lol not even hedo makes you betterwhat are you loling about? Hedo is an upgrade over Marion, not to mention he causes matchup problems, can pass the ball off the dribble (his vision, 6-10), he's clutch and doesnt rely on a first step, making his age and the five year deal reasonable, douche,

2009/2010 season is gonna be must see tv...these are the types of teams you build in NBA 2k association mode...the contenders are in an arms race atmfat_rob
For real. I just started playing 2k again and did the Association mode its pretty damn fun I just made it shorter seasons so I can get through it before I lose attention.
Thats a great stance Orlando what are you talking about...
Anyways, I guess the Heat are "odds on favorite" according to GM of Memphis to acquiring A.I.
Anthony Randolph with 42 pts in summer league tonight.... he's been balling. Tyreke Evans had 33 points 9 rebs 7 asts the other day too...
Looks like the Lakers are gonna let Lamar Odom walk, supposedly they pulled back their offer to him. So they are losing both Ariza and Odom, but they are gaining Ron Artest and prolly someone else through free agency.

I can't stop laughing at his feet:lol: lmao at his shoes
I found out about on twitter lol... twitter owns for up to the date news on everything. Whenever anything big happens you immediately know about it.
but it is up on ESPN now: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4328376
This sucks if they really pulled the offer for Odom. I love Odom:(-Halftime-
I'm ****ing pissed about that...
I was ok with Ariza because a bunch of fellow LA fans I know were telling me that he would be paid more/the same with the Lakers than he would have elsewhere, but he still left :?... I dunno if that's true, but if it is, I really don't get him. Why would he leave a championship team that he's shining on if he's not going to be paid more? I hope those dudes ^ are wrong, because I really liked Ariza as a player...
Artest is a good player, so I have no problem with losing Ariza and picking him up. But I dunno about Odom now... We can adjust pretty well, but it would be balls to lose him.
Ariza wanted like $9 mill per year I believe, and the Lakers only wanted to give him like $5 or $6 mill. So the Lakers said no and got Artest for about $6 mill instead... and Ariza goes to Houston for about $6 mill as well realizing now that he was asking for too much. I blame Ariza's agent more than anything because I'm sure Ariza wanted to stay in LA as well, and he's making that much in Houston anyways...
Odom wanted like $10 mill per year, Lakers supposedly only want to give him $9 mill per year so thats where that disagreement is coming from.
I'm not sure how much cap room the Lakers have left so I dunno who they can actually get now. I believe they are already over the luxury tax so they can't offer a free agent the same money they could've offered Odom. That's my understanding.

Orlando_Magic
Ok, yeah.... that's not cool Ariza.
I guess it really isn't fair to blame him, but still, I think he had enough of a say to stop that from happening. Why would he want to hassle that anyway....? Wouldn't he make more money going to the finals/playoffs with the Lakers next year than he would from not getting there with Houston? Like from advertising and endorsements and what not? Besides the money though, I think any respectable player would rather return as a star on a championship team instead of moving to another :?... so I don't really think he wanted to leave either. Oh well though... Artest is a damn good player so it's not that bad.
Well who is even out there to pick up at this point? If you're right, they can't get anyone as good as Odom in their current situation.... sigh.
David Lee and Paul Millsap to name a few. Glen Davis is also a free agent. But like I said, I think LA is in the luxury tax already and can't really sign any of those guys. The Lakers would prolly have to do a sign and trade to make something work.
If I were Odom I'd just take the $9 mill a year...
And since I haven't brought it up yet, I'll just say I love what the Magic are doing this offseason.
Hedo was asking for too much, and he wanted too long of a contract. So we get an upgrade in Vince Carter who's contract will come off the books in two years. Losing Hedo is a tough loss but Vince will definitely be able to step up and fill that hole for us. Vince has always been an underrated passer and he's just as good at running the pick and roll as Hedo, and he's a better and more efficient offensive player.
We lose Courtney Lee which hurts, however we do pick up a nice piece in Ryan Anderson who had almost as good of a rookie season as Lee did.
We lose Alston, but he was expendable assuming Jameer Nelson is healthy. We also lose Battie but the addition of Ryan Anderson will more than make up for that.
The addition of Brandon Bass is huge for us. We finally get toughness and someone to do the dirty work next to Dwight. We had no low post bangers outside of Dwight last year.
Otis Smith was a genius the way he played this Marcin Gortat thing. Dallas and everyone else out there thought we would not match Marcin Gortat so they let Brandon Bass leave freely. Bass signs with Orlando, and then Otis Smith shocks everyone and matches Dallas' offer for Gortat.... leaving Dallas with no one and Orlando with both Bass and Gortat. Hell of a bluff.
The Magic also picked up an $8 million trade exception when they did the sign and trade with Hedo/Toronto... so now we have the option of trading Gortat + trade exception for a $14 million player. We most likely won't trade Gortat until after the first year because he can veto trades, but when that expires I kinda expect him to be gone. Or if someone like Jameer goes down again this year, we can use the trade exception to get an $8 million replacement, so it's a nice insurance policy.
Next year's projected lineup:
PG: Jameer Nelson/Anthony Johnson/free agent
SG: Vince Carter/Mickael Pietrus/JJ Redick
SF: Rashard Lewis/Mickael Pietrus
PF: Brandon Bass/Ryan Anderson
C: Dwight Howard/Marcin Gortat
Rashard Lewis will spend more time at SF, and he will spend a lot more time posting up and using his size this year. Definite plus, and he will still cause plenty of matchup problems whether he's at SF or PF.
With Brandon Bass at PF it allows the Magic to match up better with traditional PF's, something we lacked last year when Rashard was guarding PF's in the post. Ryan Anderson also gives us a 6'10 shooter who can spread the floor and rebound. So the Magic are very versatile at Power Forward this year.
I'm also expecting to see Dwight Howard and Gortat together at the same time more, which will just be a shot blocking/rebounding nightmare for other teams. And then they still have to worry about the offense of Jameer/Vince/Rashard on the other end....
We still have the ability to play a lineup of Jameer/Vince/Pietrus/Rashard/Dwight and cause huge matchup problems for other teams just like last year.
I love how this team is built and we have a ton of versatility now, especially with our big men. We definitely improved and it'll be interesting to see how these improvements stack up to all these improvements teams like San Antonio, Boston, and Cleveland have made.
The Shaq move was made to directly counter Dwight Howard and the Magic. Shaq allows them to at least put a big body on Dwight in the post now, however, Shaq is horrible at guarding the pick and roll so that will hurt the Cavs a lot. Asking Shaq to guard a a Vince Carter/Dwight Howard pick and roll with Rashard Lewis and Pietrus waiting in the corners to shoot 3's is just asking for trouble.
I do think the Magic will have a very tough time getting past Boston this year, but I don't think it's impossible either.
That was dumb of them. Dwight is one of the best big men in the game and they try to match him with a worn out player? Shaq will get trashed on by Dwight.... and tons of centers in the league for that matter. They could have made much smarter choices...
I think the team everyone is worried about right now is Boston... I'm not looking forward to KG racking up decades of rebounds on my Lakers :(. Magic still looks strong though. Cavs, Nuggets, Houston, and a few others too... Houston has some serious potential if you ask me...
How is Pheonix doing btw? They were decent contenders last season but a lot of their team besides Nash and Shaq just didn't come through for them...
Houston isn't gonna go far without Yao Ming. And they lost Artest too. Maybe this is the year Tmac finally does something in the playoffs...
Phoenix is pretty much done for. Steve Kerr ruined that team by trading away Shawn Marion and bring in Shaq. Shaq was a failed experiment and he's gone already with nothing to show for it. And there's all this talk about Amare getting traded.
They still have a good team though... And if Ariza goes beast again during te playoffs, they will have another close shot at getting into the semis. Where they will go from there... I dunno, but I think they can still make it that far.
But then again, Ariza had Kobe dishing out assists and pushing the ball to him when he couldn't get shots off for all of the playoffs, which he might not have at Houston...
Lol at Pheonix right now... I feel hella bad for Nash though. One of the best point guards in the game and he is on a team that can't even get into the playoffs... It hurt to watch some Pheonix games last season because it's so evident how much he carries that team... Shaq would help shoulder the weight sometimes, but not nearly often enough. And the team has good players, they just don't show up to play for some reason and very few are doing what they are capable of...
houston is so screwed next year. i doubt that t mac is even there at the start of the season. we have no serious big man. our tallest players are scola and landry and they're only 6-9. yao needs to get traded ASAP. he hasn't played a full season in like 4 years
Â
ariza hopelly becomes an offensive threat but thats doubtful and brooks is way too inconsistantÂ
as of now these are pretty much our starters
Brooks/Laury
Mcgrady/Ariza
Ariza/battier
Scola/landry
.........looks like we're missing a position there... :|
