OK, so Tyreke Evans...what's good with him? What does he bring to the table [draftexpress isn't working atm]....I'm kind of upset with this pick honestly, especially with the chance of Rubio, but Petrie must have thought Rubio would bust to skip on him. idk...I want to hold off judgement of the pick until I find out what Evans does. I'm really dissapointed that he's a 2-guard though....it's not like we don't have Cisco, and K-Mart holding down the #2 spot....he must be a combo guard :?Colt45fool

ya he's going to play point. he's 6-5 but has a 7' wingspan. not the worst pick i like my freaks but they're going to regret passing on rubio. i saw an interview with one of the maloofs after the pick and he said he'd pick him over griffin. the guy running your franchise said that.

Shaq in Cleveland: Shaq will only hinder Cleveland honestly. He's slow as molasses, and the Cavs don't have any threats on the perimeter for Shaq to kick out to. Meh trade IMO. I suppose he's another option on offense, but I think they're better off with Ilgauskus honestly.

Vince in Orlando: idk man, if Vince is willing to share the ball this could be a great trade....but I can see Vince ****ing up the chemistry the Magic had. You shouldn't tamper with a team that should have been the NBA champions.

why are you making it seem like Vince is Terell Owens:| elt me guess your basing this off of his Toronto days

Tyreke Evans had been dominating the workouts, and Rubio is a huge question mark so that's why you guys ultimately decided on Evans. Evans has great size, amazing ball handling, can get to the rim at will, and is a great finisher. He's a good passer and has good vision but in that aspect he's not as good as Rubio. As long as he doesn't end up like Larry Hughes it'll most likely be a good pick. I talked about a lot the PG's here if you want to read it.

And Jrue Holiday is a good pickup at #17 by the Sixers, but like I've been saying pretty much all along, all those mock drafts that had him going from #2 through #4 were overrating him so much.

I hope Minnesota doesn't plan on playing Rubio and Flynn together in the backcourt. I really think they only drafted Rubio to trade him... but I guess we'll see.

What I said about the draft in February, including some Tyreke Evans talk

Not much changed up because Griffin, Thabeet, and Harden did end up going 1-2-3. I did bring up Tyreke Evans because I like his game a lot, and his stock rose a ton since February. Back then most mocks had him being picked somewhere in the teens and then by draft night he goes #4...

Obviously Greg Monroe decided to not enter the draft since then, but he's gotta be the early #1 choice for next year's draft at the moment. Monroe (SF/PF) and John Wall (PG) are the two top prospects for next year's draft imo.

Huge talent, but inconsistent. He can shoot the 3, handle the ball, and get to the rim.... very versatile offensively.

The only reason Cleveland got Shaq is to matchup with Dwight Howard. Only reason.

Vince is a great passer and pretty much always has been. At this point in his career I think he'll be willing to do whatever needs to be done to try and get a ring though. At least I hope so lol.

They are like complete opposites. Amare is arguably the best scoring big man in the league but his defense is horrible, and Biendrins is great rebounder/defender but with very limited offense. With the way GS plays Amare is a great fit but I'm wondering how GS is going to stop anyone with their defense. It'll be very exciting to watch them play though.

I know that picture is supposed to be of Stephen Curry but lol at Mitch Richmond and Don Nelson.

and...

Carter, who attended Daytona Beach Mainland High School and has owned a house in Isleworth, said the trade was a dream come true but also a shock. He was teaching at his basketball camp in Orlando when the news broke.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for me," he said. "When I found out I got traded I was like OK, great. Then I said, 'OK, where?' And they told me 'back home,' which is a dream come true. I am excited, proud and just ready to represent my hometown well."

Carter said he just hoped to "fit in" and "help a great team go further."

So, he plays defense, and scores like a young Larry Hughes....not bad, I suppose. I would prefer Rubio, but I guess Evans is fine....Kings also picked up Sergio Rodriguez from Portland, and Omri Caspi from Israel....anyone know anything about either player? I'm kind of shocked they took a SF, but I guess they're not sold on Donte' Greene yet, which I'm not surprised about...Kings look like this next year...

C: Spencer Hawes
PF: Jason Thompson, Jon Brockman, Kenny Thomas
SF: Andres Nocioni, Omri Casspi, Donte Greene
SG: Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia
PG: Tyreke Evans, Beno Udrih, Sergio Rodriguez

RFA's - Ike Diogu, Rashad McCatns, Cedric Simmons

And for the future...

C: Spencer Hawes
PF: Jason Thompson/Jon Brockman
SF: Omri Casspi/Donte' Greene
SG: Kevin Martin/Francisco Garcia
PG: Tyreke Evans/Sergio Rodriguez/Beno Udrih

Hopefully Casspi turns into the next Peja? Or Hedo? lol, it's possible...the pick reminds me of Peja a lot. I bet every king fan was saying W-T-F when they saw that pick...Petrie does his homework on late round foreign players though, so even though I don't know who Casspi is, I expect him to be an all-star at some point. lmao

the amare deal is being held up because the plan was to include the #7 but neither team expected curry to be there. warriors want to keep curry. so our lineup would look like:

monta/curry
morrow/curry
jackson/azubuike
randolph/maggette
amare/turiaf

slide 3-5 down and get a couple centers then we'd really have a team. the way we're set up now would be fun to watch at least but we couldn't compete with la.

Shaq isn't good for any running team. The Cavs would benefit better from Marcus Camby than Shaq at this point. Much better actually.Colt45fool

Colt, you really don't know much about basketball. No shots fired, just sayin'.

BTW, Petrie has been the Kings GM since '94....meaning he drafted Williams ['98], traded for Bibby ['01], and signed Bobby Jackson...yeah, he doesn't know anything about PGs. Colt45fool

Signing Udrih to that deal was one of the worst contracts in the history of the NBA (c) Bill Walton as soon as it was announced, and now looks even worse. If Rubio turns into a star while the Kings are still looking for a PG, he's never going to live it down.

Shaq in Cleveland: Shaq will only hinder Cleveland honestly. He's slow as molasses, and the Cavs don't have any threats on the perimeter for Shaq to kick out to. Meh trade IMO. I suppose he's another option on offense, but I think they're better off with Ilgauskus honestly.Colt45fool

Guess what percentage Mo Williams shot from beyond the arc.

Guess what percentage Delonte West shot from beyond the arc.

And the Cavs' biggest weakness in the playoffs was no one besides LeBron who could create his own shot -- that, and someone to defend D-Ho. Shaq does both, and his contract expires at the end of next year, and he can be platooned with Big Z to keep both fresh for the playoffs. It's a superb deal.

Vince in Orlando: idk man, if Vince is willing to share the ball this could be a great trade....but I can see Vince ****ing up the chemistry the Magic had. You shouldn't tamper with a team that should have been the NBA champions.

Yeah, like someone else said, you're living in the past. Vinsanity is one of the most unselfish stars in the NBA, real talk.  And the bolded part is just another wrong cliche. (And "should have been"? They lost to the better team, dude.)

Re: the draft:

DeJuan Blair was by far the biggest steal of the draft.

Nick Calathes, Ty Lawson, and Jrue Holiday were baller picks.

yayuhz Spurs got the title next season!!! Spurs vs Cavs zomg

out of ALL the teams the spurs were the ones to pick up Blair. That made me so pissed lol GM's are going to look back on this draft and see they made a big mistake not drafting him earlier.  Why didn't the Cavs choose him, that's what I want to know.  do they think having Varajao as a starter is a good thing?  I won't be surprised if they get beat by Boston or Orlando again

He's pretty decent downlow just because he can put a body on him and he's wide. But Shaq trying to guard a Vince Carter + Dwight Howard pick and roll is pretty laughable.

the amare deal is dead for now. nellie offered biedrins, wright, belinelli or azubuike for amare. i'm guessing kerr is trying to find a better offer from another team but i don't think he'll get one.

there's also a bynum for rubio rumor. man i would love to see that.

because that's a ****ty offer for amare

warriors are dumb, curry, biedrins, wright for amare and it's done

C - Amare
PF - Randolph
SF - SJax
SG - Azubuike
PG - Ellis

such a sick unstoppable offense

bench: morrow, maggette, turiaf

if anything package ellis and maggette for more shooters/depth and a defensive PG

ya i'm leaning towards amare now. not for curry but i'd imagine we could replace him with a future pick (suns don't have one next year). i'm thinking this team would be better than the phoenix team which arguably would have beat san antonio a few years back.

@ Kam:

I'm not nearly as knowledgable in basketball as I am in football.

Doesn't matter. West isn't much of a scorer as it is, and both he and Delonte West aren't nearly enough to utilize Shaq's skillset. Not to mention they both flounder in critical situations. Neither was very effective in the conference finals...good 'ole Moe shot 37% from the floor.

Besides, the Cavs had a tougher time defending Turk, the size of the Magic, and the three ball than they did either of those things. Adding Shaq doesn't stop Orlando's perimeter game, though it will frustrate Dwight more. It's great value, it's just not a move that will put Cleveland over the top.

I wouldn't say one of the worst deals....we signed him for the MLE, it wasn't THAT much money. Beno is clearly a backup PG but he looked solid when Bibby wasn't in the lineup a year or so ago, so I don't blame Sacramento for signing him. I just wish it was a shorter deal. Besides, Tyreke Evans is being pushed as the new Mike Bibby of the Kings....in Memphis when he was the PG the team lost 1 game, whereas when he was playing the SG they lost quite a few more. If you look at what Petrie seems to be doing, he seems to be rebuilding a team very similar to the Kings earlier in this decade. If Evans turns out to be a Bibby type [scoring PG], we have K-mart at the 2-guard [Peja anybody?], Casspi as the big-time defender [a la Doug Christie], Hawes is easily comparable to Vlade/Brad Miller, and then Thompson whom is right now a poor man's C-Webb [though to be fair, Thompson averaged 17/11/1 in the final month of the season. We're also looking for another C-Webb type, hopefully we draft someone next year to fill that role.] Then there's still Garcia [Bobby Jackson?]as the 6th man, and other pieces still being felt out [Brockerman, Greene]. I think this could be a team that competes in 2/3 years. Give us another lottery pick, or two, and the Kings could be a team to be reckoned with.

I'm assuming that's Mo Williams. He's a fine co-second option.

Not to mention they both flounder in critical situations. Neither was very effective in the conference finals...good 'ole Moe shot 37% from the floor

That's quite the small sample size. The simple truth was that they just didn't make shots. But it was one series. Back away from the ledge. It's basketball; it happens. Were the Magic floundering in critical situations v the Celtics? No, they just went through a shooting slump. Happens to the best of them.

The Cavs were the best team in the regular season. They only lost because the Magic were an atrocious matchup for them. Adding Shaq provides a big direct counter to that. Read some John Hollinger.

I wouldn't say one of the worst deals....we signed him for the MLE, it wasn't THAT much money. Beno is clearly a backup PG but he looked solid when Bibby wasn't in the lineup a year or so ago, so I don't blame Sacramento for signing him.

Six million for a long-term deal for a 7th man is horrible. You can find dudes like Udrih off the street, and I'm hardly exaggerating. Sunk cost, especially with the declining economy.

I think you're reaching big time with the last paragraph. I don't know much about Casspi but he sounds decent:

Omri Casspi, Maccabi Tel Aviv
Age: 20.8 | Translated Stats: .413 Win% | .534 TS% | 19.6 Usage | 11.3 Reb% | 0.03 Pass Rating

Comps: Tim Thomas (98.0); Dirk Nowitzki (97.0); Marvin Williams (96.6) Rudy Gay (96.5); Joe Johnson (96.1)

Young wings with size and the ability to shoot usually end up faring pretty well, as Casspi's comps indicate. Based on them, he looks like a steal late in the first round. Casspi's translated numbers were at replacement level last season with the chance to get better in the hurry. He should be able to contribute offensively right away, with translated 39.8 percent three-point shooting and solid ability to get to the free throw line.

I'm hearing Casspi's a really good defender a la Doug Christie as well. He's a lot like Nocioni, except a lot younger, and a lot cheaper.

Yeah, but at the time it seemed decent because Beno was supposed to be our PG for the future. He turned out to be a bust, we couldn't have forseen that. He played much better in 07 than in 08.

I might be reaching, but you can at least see the comparisons. A lot of these guys are similar to the old Kings as far as their game is concerned. K-Mart is just as good of a shooter as Peja, Hawes is a Brad Miller/Vlade clone, Casspi is the big time defender like Christie...if Evans turns out like Bibby, and JT keeps improving, I think we could be a few pieces away from contending again. We need another big to rebound/have a formidable post game.

I have no doubt in my mind that Tyreke Evans is going to get points and assists for the Kings. He's going to be able to get to the hole and finish no doubt. The question people have is will he end up like Larry Hughes (poor shooter/people wanted him to play PG when he's really a SG), because that's definitely a possibly. If he does end up like Hughes I guess that is okay, but if he CAN run the PG as well as he did the second half of the year in Memphis its an amazing pick.

And if Stephen Curry stays in GS, he's gotta be the early pick for rookie of the year. With the way they run on offense and freedom their system allows, he's gonna be getting shots all day.... and Curry is by far the best shooter in this year's draft. I would not be suprised to see him average 20+ ppg in Golden State.

Alright a couple things...

Did anyone see that phone convo between Brandon Jennings and Joe Budden:lol: Jennings is gonna be an interesting character in the league lol... and I'm sure that's what scared a lot of teams off.

Has anyone heard about the Rashard Lewis and Rihanna rumors

Is Rihanna casting spell on Magic men (via NY Daily News)

And now mediatakeout has Rihanna's walk of shame from Rashard's hotel, including pictures.

I think it's fake since Rashard is married and has a kid, but who knows. I can't be mad at him if it's true though lol.

[QUOTE="rubbersouI"]i think curry has a good chance. nellie doesn't normally play rookies but he loves guards especially curry, thinks he the next nash. and in our offense he's going to get a lot of shots.Colt45fool
if Tyreke Evans lives up to the hype, he'll be averaging 17/4/4 next season which should be enough to get consideration for ROY.

actually jonny flynn already won it.

this is what i think of these fa signings

detroit signing gordon and villanueva doesn't make sense they need to rebuild i doubt they think they can win a title with their roster. what's with teams just trying to be decent.

ariza is asking for way too much money so he's gone lakers are so much smarter than the rest of the league. they'll sign odom i'm sure. he's asking too much but that's just how it is now. our signing of maggette doesn't seem as bad compared to what's going on nowadays.

i'd like to see artest sign with la i don't want cleveland to get better.

okur and boozer staying with utah means they're way over the cap so they'll move someone. hopefully ak to gs.

I'm hoping the Magic can get a legit PF this offseason. I've heard a lot of rumors about Rasheed, Brandon Bass, and McDyess. I also hear Ron Artest too. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

extra, extra read all about it!

Artest is coming to LA

I was crushed when I heard we had lost Ariza but getting Artest was a huge upgrade :D  2 All NBA defenders in the backcourt is going to be pure domination. It's going to be like MJ and Pippen

LeBron will be back on a team that's worse than the one he has now, and will be that much further from a ship. I'll be laughing if he leaves for NY or NJ.

Wow. So everyone was saying Hedo was signing with Portland and that fell apart. Looks like he's going to Toronto but hopefully the Magic can at least get a sign and trade out of it because Toronto has to renounce some of their players to do it. Marion would be nice...

Hedo actually said he's not going to Portland... and Toronto looks like they're gonna get him now. I just said this like 2 posts earlier ;)

Hedo pulls out of talks with Portland (ESPN)
