so if a guy named Jose Chavez becomes President and was born in US, all those people will quickly think he was not born in the US and must prove he was born here.

uh...yeah ok you guys are smart.

cant believe people are still at this. plus like an other user said he does have less then 2 years left anyways, so who cares.

People couldn't fathom that a black man became President, so they concluded that he must not be an American citizen. Seriously. That's what it boils down to. Do you think a single one of these birther idiots would be crying foul if Obama was white?Theokhoth

None of them were questioning John McCain's cirtizenship, despite the fact that McCain actually wasn't born in the United States.

Exactly. the evidence McCain was not born in America was and is much stronger than any evidence (none) that Obama wasn't. Yet none of these birther lunatics seem to really care about that. The birther movement is about getting a black guy out of the oval office, period. Utterly shameful, moreso that Huckabee was trying to appeal to them.

I believe (and I'm sorry that I'll get some of the terminology wrong here) McCain actaully went to congress and specifically requested that they pre-qualify him because he acknowledged that there was the potential for a conflict there.

The Senate passed a resolution, but it didn't amount to anything real, as neither chamber of Congress actually has such authority. Nonetheless McCain is a natural born US citizen, and a US District Court judge has confirmed this. Well, to be specific he ruled that it was "highly probable" that McCain's a citizen.

I don't get why people keep pushing this, save for the fact that he won't release it and it's something to go after him on. Thing is, the guy's a total f***** dumbass who has given those inclined PLENTY to go after him on aside from the question of whether he's a secret muslim plant or a commie infiltrator. The guy's an arrogant liberal dumbass -- go after him on THAT. Who cares about where his ass was born (could be Mars for all I care)?

How does that make sense if he won a majority of the white vote?

Because majority =/= all

Why are republicans always so insistant on working on any issue that has nothing to do with the economy?

He didn't say all white people... just a group of them...

Gotcha. I misread that. Although, I would say that there are probably a good number of "birthers" that are so primarily because Obama is a relatively liberal democrat, and would probably do so regardless of his skin color. That doesn't make crazies any less crazy, but I'm not sure if all of them are just thinking exclusively about race. But, I have been wrong before.

Exactly.

Liberals tend to overlook the fact that the man had 70 percent+ approval ratings when he took office and won many previously red states. But yeah, the entire reason that people DON'T like the guy is because he's black and that's what it boils down to.

Immigration Reform, Cap and Trade, S.T.A.R Program, Ending Missile Defense doesn't = working on the economoy (Before anyone makes a judgement call on me........... these days there is less difference between Republicans and Democrats that one would think

I think it does apply, this undertone has been going on since the election. He's some kind of "foreign" outsider who isn't a citizen even with the OVERWHELMING evidence that he is. Yet these nut jobs didn't say anything when bush, Clinton, Regan were running for office but all of a sudden some guy named Obama's citizenship is at question ?

Yeah, but Bush, Clinton and Reagon didn't spend the majority of their youth overseas. I think thats the bigger issue. But again, thats my opinion and you're certainly entitled to disagree with me.

So because a kid who was born in america spends his time overseas he must be "Un-american" ?Or investigated vigorously because his parents want him to see the world :?

I'm not arguing with you. The question was "Why do some people think that" and that is the best reason I can think of. Don't kill the messenger. If Obama was born, raised and grew up in Chicago, there wouldn't even be a question. That's all I'm saying.

To be fair when you have Republican politicans saying this crap it tends to reflect on the Republican party.

You are the one infusing race in the discussion. In fact, the man is always referred to as black when in fact that is not correct, and is based purely on appearance, which is JUST as racist as judging the man unfavorably based on his skin color. For example, a lot of Dominicans LOOK African, too, but how do you think they'd feel about being called "black" just because they are dark-skinned when the Dominican people have many more genetic influences besides African?

I'm pointing out the slippery slope that you go down when you start making statements about race based on passive observations of skin color.

We are talking about the movements in general, aren't we? Although I really wouldn't say that Van Jones is all that much of a small fry politically -- the democratic party still hasn't completely severed ties with him in spite of him being absolutely proven to be a patented loon.

A lot of Dominicans are black. Whether or not you call them African is another matter, but they are black. I have more genetic influences besides Nordic but I'm white. I might have Hispanic and and Native American in my family history, but I am white. Obama is black. Yes, he has a white mother, but if you saw him without know who he is or what his background is I'm sure pretty much everyone would call him black.

I'm asking about Democratic politicians. I mentioned that Republican politicians being Birthers reflects on the Republican party. Then I asked what Democrats are Truthers. I stated that I asked so that I know who not to vote for, I figured the politician bit was fairly obvious there.

They could call him black, but they'd be wrong. If we were judging based solely on "color" what would hispanics be? Or Asian? Isn't judging people based on skin color what led to racist characterizations about those races? So why is it okay for you (or anyone) to do it to a Mulatto -- who is neither white or black, but both? Or to a Dominican?

I don't think you understand that racism works both ways.

We are talking about the movements in general, aren't we? Although I really wouldn't say that Van Jones is all that much of a small fry politically -- the democratic party still hasn't completely severed ties with him in spite of him being absolutely proven to be a patented loon.

I'm asking about Democratic politicians. I mentioned that Republican politicians being Birthers reflects on the Republican party. Then I asked what Democrats are Truthers. I stated that I asked so that I know who not to vote for, I figured the politician bit was fairly obvious there.

The base and the party are one and the same, I'd say, since we have a representative government and all that. :)

And at the time, 35 percent of democrats were truthers. Sad, no?

Who cares what one person, group or a state wants?

If our government wants someone to be in the white house to be the nations spoke person then they will do it.

Even IF a U.S president (pretty much nation in this world) got elected without being born in u.s or any rule that disqualify someone to run. Do you really think that nation would release such infomation? That news to the world would turn ugly for that nation.

Shame-usBlackley

A lot of Dominicans are black. Whether or not you call them African is another matter, but they are black. I have more genetic influences besides Nordic but I'm white. I might have Hispanic and and Native American in my family history, but I am white. Obama is black. Yes, he has a white mother, but if you saw him without know who he is or what his background is I'm sure pretty much everyone would call him black.

Obama himself identifies as black so whatever point you're attempting to make goes out the window.

BATTOSAI76

It's not like all but one of the bills supporters were republican.....oh wait....wasting time like usual, republicans.

True most of the birthers are GOP but not all GOP are birthers, you heard me wrong. And there you go assuming again, how can you be so sure that I'm a republican?

I never said u were......a significant enought # are, and it's kind of pathetic.

[QUOTE="YellowOneKinobi"][QUOTE="Sp4rtan_3"]"It is unfortunate that some people continue to fight the Civil War," - Best quote from the article. Theses birther people are nothing but ignorant, racist in my eye.Sp4rtan_3
I'm not sure the term "racist" really applies....... but you did say "in my eye" and you definitely have a right to that opinion.

It is definitely a racial/"foreigness" issue. The people who act like it has nothing to do with race are in denial.

I'd say if anyone has the right to mischaracterize their own race, it'd be the person whose race was in question. That doesn't make him any less wrong, and that doesn't excuse you (or anyone else) mischaracterizing it. I know African-Americans who call each other the N word, too, by your flimsy standards the word would be fair game then, I'm assuming?

It's irrelevant that a third of the democratic voting base is stark f****** crazy?

The 10 other states with pending bills include: Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Connecticut, Indiana, Nebraska, Tennessee and Maine.Article
That's 9 states, not 10. Nebraska is listed twice.
Also, the politicians in my state prove once again that they are stupid.

Just to throw a little fuel on the fire........ Member of House of Representatives from Georgia Cynthia McKinney (Democrat) signed on to the Truth Movement on October 24, 2004.

Just off the top of my head...

Cynthia McKinney and Mike Gravel. There are more if you'd like a list, but what's the point? Are you arguing that your politicians are less insane than their republican equivalents?
