Ummm, yeah you were "wasting time like usual, republicans." that's what you said. Also do you have numbers to support your claim?

No, I have a few events I could site, and that sentence doesn't call u a republican.

Sure sounde like it to me. Anyway events aren't any good, your making a statement based on x number of people without numbers to back it up. Btw I am a republican, and I'm not a birther, I'm not going to deny the claims made by the birthers, however I will not fully support them either.

He has a birth certificate from Hawaii saying he was born there, which the Republican governor of Hawaii has said is authentic, and there are entries in two newspapers at the time of his birth announcing his birth in Hawaii.

There is clear evidence for anyone who is actually willing to believe that Obama was born in Hawaii.

Obama himself identifies as black so whatever point you're attempting to make goes out the window.

worlock77

I'd say if anyone has the right to mischaracterize their own race, it'd be the person whose race was in question. That doesn't make him any less wrong, and that doesn't excuse you (or anyone else) mischaracterizing it. I know African-Americans who call each other the N word, too, by your flimsy standards the word would be fair game then, I'm assuming?

If you wish to completely misconstrue what I've said then I see no reason to continue this discussion.

I didn't misconstrue anything.

You are trying to win points in an argument by using Obama's personal decision regarding which race he classifies himself by as a means of rationalizing anyone else doing it. Whether the subject actually perceives a racist action to be racist or not IS irrelevant. It certainly doesn't make it any less racist.

I don't think Republicans would accept his birth as legit even if there was HD video of his mom giving birth to him on the state house steps with the Governor of Hawaii at the time announcing his birth.

People couldn't fathom that a black man became President, so they concluded that he must not be an American citizen. Seriously. That's what it boils down to. Do you think a single one of these birther idiots would be crying foul if Obama was white?

None of them were questioning John McCain's cirtizenship, despite the fact that McCain actually wasn't born in the United States.

Actually, some people did. Then, he provided the same information as Obama, but they were happy to accept it coming from McCain

I really wish there was a way to get people out of the Republican vs Democrat mindset. Both parties have a lock on SO MUCH of the electorate and I feel as though there are just too many people who show up at the voting booth and just keep mindlessly pulling that L or R lever. There is just SO MUCH corruption and self-serving behaviour on BOTH sides of the aisle. Everyone gets so caught up in defending their 'side" and attacking the other "side" that politicians just keep doing what they do best........look out for thier own.

Trusting something you find on google for proof of the matter of a law? That my friend is pathetic. Also you're throwing around words like "moronic", and terms like "not having intelligence" shows me that you have no respect for the opposition that your trying to accuse, and makes you come off as if you're ranting, not making a point. And your still not proving to me that most conservatives are birthers.

It has to be some kind of bigotry.. These people are the most conservative of the lot.. And to say that Obama is not a citizen is to pretty much say that he isn't their president... And regardless of the amount evidence they have bombarded with in their favor yet still believe opposite.. It pretty much illustrates that they have ulterior motives in not accepting whether it has to do with race, or the belief that he is a Muslim or other such thing.

So it's moronic and pathetic to find the records of a hospital in hawaii, for a certain person birth, something that has been presented publicly because of this nonsence?

Um Ok, argumentum ad hominem.

This technically isn't conservatives, but a recent poll says that 51% of Republican primary voters do not believe that Obama was born in the US.

:| What does him being bad with his job have anything to do with questioning that he isn't even a citizen.. There are plenty people who think he is bad at his job and accept he is a citizen... Every president has people that don't like him.. But your right if memory serves there was Clinton in many people saying he wasn't citizen either.. Oh thats right no one did.. Obama is the first president in decades to ever have such claim... Anyway office? So what your suggesting they are being disgenious to do anything to get him out of office.. So what your saying is they are dirt bags that are openly lieing regardless of the evidence provided just to cause confusion? Man thats a great other way of looking at it.

yeah, but why wasn't this attempted on Clinton or Carter then? Or even some of the presidential candidates? (Bidens always seemed a bit too canadian for me). I think there might be other underlying causes. 51% of primary voters thinking this seems really suspicious to me. Maybe republicans go though the thinking process; "he's black and Muslim so he must have been born in the middle east".

I can only guess, but something either shady or increadibly stupid is going on. Maybe republicans just need to learn to use google as I mentioned before, lol.

Why doesn't anybody want to acknowledge that part of the reason people suspected anything is because he spent most of his youth overseas and his name is not common in the American landscape? Bush, Reagon, Clinton, Carter........all born and RAISED here. That's a huge part of the root cause of the suspision.

I suspect you are referring to his *grandmother*, not his mother, and if that's so, that little incident was a case of slipshod quote-mining/translation.

I forget if it was his mother or granmother when Obama said she was, "A typical white women." Wow, just imagine that statement made by somebody else and about a black person.

Hello, completely irrelevant comment.

[QUOTE="00-Riddick-00"][QUOTE="JustPlainLucas"]What, are we supposed to call Doc Brown so he can make us a time machine that will let us go back in time and witness the birth of Obama? :? What does it matter? He has less than two years left anyway.PannicAtack

Yes because its impossible to forge a birth certificate.

Can you prove that the birth certificate was forged? How about the newspaper articles listing him with local births?

Well, people have been injecting racism into this conversation almost from the get-go. So, not really irrelevant.

Misinformed? Sure.

But you can't claim someone is a racist because they don't believe Obama was born in the US.

YellowOneKinobi

Personally I think it's suspicious that he alone has been targeted. If there weren't alternative reasons, I believe carter and clinton would have been targed as well.

Why doesn't anybody want to acknowledge that part of the reason people suspected anything is because he spent most of his youth overseas and his name is not common in the American landscape? Bush, Reagon, Clinton, Carter........all born and RAISED here. That's a huge part of the root cause of the suspision.

Then shouldn't that suspicion lift with some (very eashy) research? It hasn't. Why? Stupidity and racism, not to say those aren't realated.

Shame-usBlackley

If you wish to completely misconstrue what I've said then I see no reason to continue this discussion.

I didn't misconstrue anything.

You are trying to win points in an argument by using Obama's personal decision regarding which race he classifies himself by as a means of rationalizing anyone else doing it. Whether the subject actually perceives a racist action to be racist or not IS irrelevant. It certainly doesn't make it any less racist.

Calling Obama black is not racist.

If you think it is, you have a silly useless definition of racism.

I wasn't trying to explain why it's STILL an issue, someone had asked where it all started. That's what I was talking about.

It basically is with hospital records and all that. A major felony that the FBI investigates in many cases, especially high profile ones, this being one of those.

His was put under extra scrutiny, even by a specialized gov't agency, don't u think somebody would have found something?

There is a mass conspiracy to cover up the details of Obama's birth. Thank god they got done with faking the moon landing just in time for this.

AGAIN playing Devil's Advocate........... but that is one of the things that give fuel to the birther fire. Since a replacement "short form" was submitted, it leaves the door open to forgery.

That has something to with it, but so does racism/racist overtones and suspicion of "differences". To think otherwise is to deny that racism does in fact still exist.

People were speculating on why people thought he wasn't born in this country. That came up, and that wasn't hard to figure out.
