So what is Trump's plan to tackle the cost of living crisis, and how does a trade war factor into that?

Trump doesn't plan on tackling the cost of living but he's started a trade war with Colombia.

Then they're hitting each other with tariffs over this, so I imagine coffee is about to get expensive in the US.

But yeah, totally fair position for the Colombian president to want them to be treated like humans. I don't think Trump or his minions are capable of that kind of compassion, but well see.

It's especially worrying that these mass round-ups and deportations are underpinned by high-pressure number quotas. That significantly increases the risk of the US fucking up and denying people due process, or deporting the wrong people. Again, I don't think this administration cares even slightly about due process, but it's worth highlighting as the situation unfolds.

Speaking of crimes against humanity, Trump has talked about removing the Muslims from Gaza. So that's fun. Huh.

There's a reason we're seeing a carbon copy of the Russian playbook against Greenland and even Canada. Even the language used is very similar when you listen to trump state that it not being handed over would be a very unfriendly act.

Just think about that, he says it would be THEM being unfriendly to just hand the nation over.

• Trump already hinting at backtracking on leaving WHO
• Trump advocates for war crimes and crimes against humanity
• People Trump being deported returned to the US

The only positive things I have to say about this trump admin is

• Eggs gone up in price, and WILL continue to do so at an accelerated rate
• Increased global awareness of Greenland's plight for independence

Again, I'm struck by how completely weird world politics has been this year.

Like if Harris had won the election, 2025 would have been identical to 2024 or 2023. Relative normality, some improvements to the economy, some tension in the east.

But instead Trump won, and the US has vacated its seat at the world table, and is instead repeatedly threatening to absorb its allies. What a weird timeline we're in.

We used to laugh at the preppers for buying tons of guns in case the government tries to take away their rights, and now it's the complete opposite side who should be doing the same thing. That really wasn't on my bingo card for 2025.

President Petro at first said Colombia would retaliate by imposing tariffs on US goods, but the White House later announced that Colombia had agreed to accept migrants - including those arriving on US military aircraft - "without limitation or delay".

He also said he was ready to send the presidential plane to the US to transport the migrants.

In a late-night news conference, Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo announced that the two countries had "overcome the impasse" and that Colombia would accept returned citizens.

the Colombian concession seems to have averted the looming trade war, the US has said that visa restrictions on Colombian government officials would stay in place until the first planeload of deportees landed in Colombia.

Colombians arriving at US airports will also undergo greater scrutiny under the measures imposed on Sunday, the Trump administration said.

The president of Colombia even stated his farmers could produce corn they import from the US. Which in turn hurts the US economy. Some countries have already refused to trade with the US.

Seems like Trump's revenge is in full swing, and he's purging every government branch of people he can't tust.

Step two is obviously to hire loyalists for these roles. Step three is presumably "make America great again".

Problem is...he's firing all of the competent, qualified, experienced people in government. Where's he going to magically find Trump loyalists who are good replacements for those roles? How's he going to achieve step 3 when the best he's got is Dr Oz and an alcoholic Fox News host?
