Well I truely respect everyones decision in life, but like all of my friends have converted to atheism, I for one am not going to convert, but I am also not that kind of person who beleives every single thing in the bibile and reads the bible 24/7 and beleive in creationism, but I do not see the point of atheism. Can anyone tell me why is this happening? Its like the whole world is being over run with people without a belief of a afterlife.antonius05
man why do we have to do this again?.... oh well here goes.... we do this because we want to find things out for ourselves. we want to find out wat happened instead of being told wat happened. its really as simple as that im just tired of being told this what "god" did and everything i want to find out on my own terms

Everyone's getting into atheism because atheism is the only rational option.
Yah, but would you really rather beleive in dying and nothing after that then heaven and hell? ( i think i just answered my own question but w/e).antonius05I would rather believe that if I live a good life then I will go to a place where everything is like paradise... but I don't, because it's not very logical, ya know?

( i think i just answered my own question but w/e).antonius05Well, atheism and not believing in an afterlife are two entirely different things, but as an empiricist with materialist leanings, I believe that not relying gives more weight to my life, since this is all I believe that I have.
Because not havinga religion = the new cool thing to do. First NES, then Backstreet boys... Now it's Atheism!Greedo_What
The whole idea of religion is way too romantic. (not in the love definition) But considering they're usually hundreds or thousands of years old, that's not very surprising.

Atheism is the new acting ghetto, son all the kids in the suburbs living in two parent households will be athiest
Because not havinga religion = the new cool thing to do. First NES, then Backstreet boys... Now it's Atheism!Greedo_WhatSad but true. They think they are being open minded and thinking for themselves but they are really just following the crowd.
[QUOTE="ALTER_duo"][QUOTE="J-Man725"]Who's to say Atheism isn't a form of faith...J-Man725
faith in... facts?
Faith in one's beliefs...no matter what they be.
Faith doesn't have to pertain soley to religion, in my opinion.
...wow thats probably the most intelligent thing ive heard all day... no wait week even

See? My point. The other new cool thing is to label all people that have religion as bible-thumping redneck coleslaw and cottage cheese eating Americans. Not true. I don't go to church. My beliefs are my own, not that of a 70 year old who has never seen past the "bible", a book written 300-400 years after jesus lived and died.Sad but true. They think they are being open minded and thinking for themselves but they are really just following the crowd.Bubba-louiyPerhaps the crowd is going in the right direction...just because your are indivdualistic does not make you right...
Because more people are starting to rely on logic, and proveable information....?CrimzonTide
Agreed. People are beginning to trust more in research and reasons with explanations instead of just BELIEVING in something.
Yeah but still, its like all the faith in the world has been stolen....( im suspecting the hamburgler)antonius05
ahhh se you,my friend, are confused between the difference inhaving faith, and having religion.

wat exactly is your proof on this? Do you take a poll in your neighborhood or something? A lot of people don't even know what exactly atheism is really, i mean the whole point behind it. You have nothing that can prove this really unless you give me a link or something im gonna say that the following posts that say atheism is the new fad or something is just bull.

Wat i what to do is just figure things out, as ive said, and while im doing this i want to consider both sides of the playing field not just mine. Im not here to attack you but rather to defend atheism as a whole because people are always ripping on it.

Mind your own business, let others do as they please, within theconfines of municipal &federal law of course.I'm an out of practice methodist so I just consider myself agnostic.

God is no more likely to exist than the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I can therefore assume by default that there is no God. Creating a belief or the possibility for a belief is changing my natural default stance of not having a belief, which is arbitrary. It would be illogical to waste your time considering the validity of the infinite number of beliefs you could come up with, and God is just one of those infinite number of beliefs.
Stole that from some dude, but it's basically what I would have posted anyways.

I believe most american adults believe in God, its just the young upcoming crowd Im talking about. I cant prove it, its just my general observation on society these days.Doesnt make me wrong either.Bubba-louiyI missed the part in my post where I implied that, it seems. And religion creates more human sheep than anything else humans can create...

I understand that, the question here is why did it happen so fast...Ive learned to worship Christianity in my own way, because honestly I beleive the Catholic church sends more people to hell then heaven. You just got to find your way of worshipping.... thats why I think people are going atheist because other people are telling them how to worship.antonius05
i think more, and more people are going athiest because they learn to think logically. as soon as someone can provide valid evidence of a higher being i'll start bekieving (not worshipping though), but untill then i will continue to believe that when you die you just stop existing, that we're not created in a higher beings image, and that the earth is older than 6000 years old.
Im not trying to make flamewars here, I respect your decisions, its just confusing to me why it happend.... not as much as it did happen but that it happend so suddenly and dramatically.... its like everyone I know turned atheist in the past 3 months.... just happend so quick.antonius05
hey i cant explain it maybe something happened in their life that changed them im not sure but have you ever asked them wat did it?
