2. Scene pop. What normal people might call "emo" as innacurate a term as that is.
3. Most classic/progressive/hard rock groups. This includes bands like Rush, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, etc.
4. Nickelback. Actually, while I'm at it, every post-grunge group on Earth. They're a dime a dozen, generic, radio-friendly bunch and I hate every single one of them. Every last soul. I don't see how bands like Breaking Benjamin and Creed got so big when they sound exactly like each other.
5. Korn. What garbage. In fact, all nu metal is garbage. Even bands influenced by nu metal. Evanescence seems to be a pretty big one. I'm going to extent that sentiment to a majority of what is now considered "alternative metal". Bands like System of a Down. I'm also going to take the liberty to extend that even further to progressive metal bands such as Tool and Dream Theater.
6. Most "extreme metal". According to Wikipedia, that includes death and black metal. Most death metal sucks (I'm iffy on whether I hate all death metal, since I like grindcore) and all of black metal sucks.

The most death metal sucks part made me laugh only because you continue to say that you like grindcore.
Why? What I meant by that, but probably wasn't clear on, was the fact that since I like grindcore, there might be death metal I like. If I wasn't clear on that, sorry. :|Grindcore isn't a genre that lends itself to be full of amazing bands.

I think we can make an exception. So yes rap is included.
Simple Plan is quite bad.
I used to like Linkin Park until I heard Shadow of the Day. Going in a completely different direction now.
EDIT: I also don't fancy Green Day.

I like grindcore, but that doesn't mean I like every single grindcore band. I just happen to like enough grindcore to consider myself a fan... But there is a lot of crap (moreso than many other genres). But that's the same with everything.Fall Out Boy is amazing....
Nickelback is amazing (what's wrong with you guys???)
OMG, Three Days Grace is amazing (saw them with Nickelback, "Get Out Alive" is one of the best adrenaline songs)
I'd agree with Rage...

Everything you said in this post is MASSIVE FAIL. Leave now.
This is my only account. I have musical eduaction for GOOD Music not whiny emo bs.LaidToRestt
No you don't. No person with a musical education of any sort would make the baseless opinion statements you have made here and feel that they support an argument. A musical education is something you receive at the post-secondary level - it's not until then that you learn about what you need to know to make convincing arguments about a particular musician's talent or to compare the quality of compositions.
Your musical 'education' is unguided 'self-study.' And by 'self-study,' I mean you listen to it and read about bands you like. Maybe you dabble a bit on an instrument. None of this puts you in a position to argue about music with any credibility. And so, I would suggest you just drop this topic. End the discussion with more dignity than you started it.
Fall Out Boy
AFI
Lamb of God
Godsmack
KoRn (spelling is just lame itself)
Disturbed
And that's all I can think of now.

Thank you very much!
Okay. Though I don't really see how this is relative to whether the superior band is The Cure or Lamb of God.
Cerussite
It's entirely relevant. A person with a musical education is in a position to remark objectively on a performance or a composition. A person without a musical education doesn't have the skills or knowledge to do so and must rely solely on unsupported opinions.
fine i dont have musical education....... i just listen to music/play guitarLaidToRestt
Good. Now you're being honest! :D
You know, you'd be just fine to say you hate The Cure. Your opinion is every bit as valid as any other unsupported opinion here. But arguing that your favourite bands are better as opposed to simply saying you like them more is where you'll run into problems. And with that, my work is done.

I disagree. Even if you have no musical background, you're still credible as long as you can make valid points against an artist.[QUOTE="LaidToRestt"]fine i dont have musical education....... i just listen to music/play guitarpianist

But you can't make valid points against an artist when you don't even know what the difference between tonic and dominant harmony is. How can you argue about the quality of one composition compared to another when you don't even understand the most rudimentary concepts of counterpoint, rhythm, or harmony? There will come a point in the argument where you have nothing left to say but "I just think this." And in the end, that's all the argument ever was.

 Please enlighten me as to what grounds you are using to arrive at this conclusion.
Metallica and Slayer can put on this magical thing called a PERFORMANCE. Something that, from what I have seen, The Cure cannot provide.
So? Guns N' Roses can put on a performance, but they're a terrible, terrible band. Yeah, really. Stage performance doesn't make a band. It adds to a reason why you'd like them. But that doesn't sum up a reason why they're amazing. It's all about the music man,and as others have said. That's not true. You can argue about the theory behind a piece of music without ever actually knowing what exactly you're talking about. And really, no matter how much of an expert you are at all this, it really comes down to the same "I just think this" argument, except you're speaking in a more technical manner and you know what exactly you're talking about, as opposed to the average listener, who still evalutates all this, albeit, without actually knowing what most of it is.[QUOTE="Cerussite"][QUOTE="Thyeora"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="LaidToRestt"]Metallica > The Cure

You're a joke. You evidently don't have any musical education whatsoever... and so you couldn't possibly be in a position to evaluate a musician's talent or compositional ability. What you're trying to do here is akin to arguing that the Theory of Relativity is flawed. It's a subject you know NOTHING about, and so all you can do is present your opinions over and over again, hoping someone will take you seriously.
Obviously you're posting from an alternate account. I wonder what LJS did to tick you off when you were using your regular account...
Alright if a musicical arguement is what your looking for then I'll give you one.
Why Lamb of God is awesome:
1) They tastefully and intelligently utilize chromatic notes rather than sticking to the key note by note.
2) They utilize more than one meter. They do do their fair share of 4/4 but, unlike many pop bands today (and for those that don't know pop in this case refers to anything BUT classical orchestra type music). They have songs, Descending for example, that use 6/8 and other comples meters as well as dabbling in assymetric meter. I believe the breakdown in Laid Tor Rest is in 7/8. I'm not positive about that though.
3) They are NOT stupid. Mark Morton, the lead guitarist graduated from, I believe, the University of Chicago but either way, he was in the conservatory there. Also, in an interview Randy (the singer) was asked what he does to maintain his voice. He said that he doesn't do anything special but avoid straining it and said that he was no Pavarotti. I doubt most people on this forum know who Pavarotti is.
My only problem with Lamb of God:
Despite their use of chromatic notes most all of their music is in D minor/D dorian and some other occasional modal twists but still all in some variation of D. The use of more keys would be nice.
This is my only account. I have musical eduaction for GOOD Music not whiny emo bs.LaidToRestt
I find it hilarious how you back up all of your statements by saying "whiney emo crap/or bs". Seriously kid, learn to know some good music. Lamb of God can't write music, nor can they play it.You're going through a phase. In a few years you'll come to a conclusion that what you listened to now was absolute garbage. And what do you mean you have a "musical education" for good music? So you were taught in school that Lamb of God is good music? Whatever happened to them teaching you about Beethoven? Now I'm not saying I necessairly enjoy Beethoven, but he is and for awhile will be one of the most famous artists. If you want good metal, listen to;Assuck, misery index,combatwoundedveteran,(more-or-less grindcore) Siege,Pig Destroyer, ect.
