I use to download music like a fish to water, but since I've been in a band I've decided to start paying the artist for their work on creating music (which is a lot harder than most people think).[QUOTE="RexDarr"][QUOTE="Film-Guy"]
I use Napster a lot, but I still try and buy CDs:D

I know what you mean, my brother is in a band so I have started understand more about how much he struggles to earn money. Problem is there aren't many CD stores in Los Angeles. Ever since tower records closed down there is only Amoeba, which to be fair is an amazing store, and a place called CD trader. Best buy too I guess but their selection is limited. I sometimes use Amazon.com, but it doesnt have the same atmosphere as a CD store.
I hear that, I used to buy most of my albums at Tower Records since it was so close, now I have to drive to North Hollywood to buy my albums at Amoeba.[QUOTE="RexDarr"][QUOTE="Film-Guy"]

I live in Calgary and there are a ton of CD stores. A mall that I go after school had 3 CD stores but 1 closed down (went out of business, and it was the best). We also have a place called Recordland which carries EVERYTHING your looking for. If you were to find any CD, Recordland probably has it. I've bought CDs from Amazon, but I end up paying half the price of the CD for shipping. If I can I normally like to find the band and contact them about the CD, its normally cheaper and sometimes they'll throw a free shirt or something in there.Another list:D

Dethalbum II is going to rock! I pre-ordered the deluxe edition. I hope they have wicked songs like the first Dethalvbum. I havent heard any of the new songs (I'd rather hear them from the CD so its suprising).[QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="RexDarr"] I use to download music like a fish to water, but since I've been in a band I've decided to start paying the artist for their work on creating music (which is a lot harder than most people think).RexDarr

Most of the bands can be found on myspace (its getting their reply that's difficult, but if you can pull it off good on ya). I've gotten a few things from local bands but I've also gotten a few CDs from a few big bands, but normally they don't reply for a while. I've stopped downloading a while ago. CDs have some of the best recordings (Vinyls, to me, are the best). The band that I'm in is going to be working on a CD around Christmas and we're trying to get the best equiptment for recording, we want it to be SOOO crisp.[QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="AxeStrangler"] I hear that, I used to buy most of my albums at Tower Records since it was so close, now I have to drive to North Hollywood to buy my albums at Amoeba.AxeStrangler

I know a guy who works at a music store so he said that he'll lend us recording equiptment for $200 a month. BUT I also know a singer of a local band who has a recording studio in his basement and said that he'll let us record our first demo there for free. We're a heavy metal band but with a twist. We're a mix of: -Dethklok - Job for a Cowboy - Lamb of God - Machine Head - Slayer - System of a Down We've played a few concerts and have been invited to play a few more. People seem to be taking a liking to our music, so I think that if we keep it up we'll go far. I play bass and backing vocals. If you would like to join our group you can find us on Facebook, just search Black Cadence, our myspace is on there too but we don't have any songs up there (obviously lol)Horrific - Your Worst Nightmare (album of the year)
Claws - Absorbed in the Nethervoid
Gorod - Process of a New Decline
Revolting - Dreadful Pleasures

Its growing on me a bit, but I still found it a bit dissapointing overall.
I'm with Film Guy on this one. I think it has stopped growing on me though. Disappointment of 2009 though a chunk of it is very enjoyable.

I liked Unnatural selection, but Exogenesis is very overrated. Its orchestral parts are very bland and even though the 3 parts are not that long they drag a lot.

title track does it for me. MK Ultra gets me in that "Muse Urgency" type of mood which I love. Exogenesis last part is very nice. I swear sometimes they sound like they have been listening to Angels and Airwaves.

Yeah the last part of exogenesis is the best, but the first 2 sound very dull to me. Not much happens and they dont really go anywhere. To me they sound like a mix of Styx, Queen, Journey, and Toto.
Eminem - Relapse
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
Muse - The Restistance
The Black Eyed Peas - The E.N.D
Jet - Shaka Rock
Either....
"Backspacer" by Pearl Jam
or
"Merriweather Post Pavillion" by Animal Collective
Both have AMAZING album covers too.
Still haven't heard "Veckatimest" by Grizzly Bear though, and I'm really interested in that. The stuff I've heard is great.
Lamb of God - Wrath
Devildriver - Prey for Villians
CKY - Carver City
And what I heard of:
Suicide Silence - No Time To Bleed
Job For A Cowboy - Ruination
Killswitch Engage - Self-titled
Rx Bandits - Mandala
Thursday - Common Existence
Some of these I've listened to to an extent, but I tend to buy so many CD's that I don't get to them all at once...
But my favourite of the year was Coheed and Cambria's Neverender. Not neccessarily new, but all four albums performed live, and all of it sounded amazing, even with some slight imperfections.
For the rest of the year? Kill Hannah's new one, the new 69 Eyes, and Scar Symmetry off the top of my head. And that doesn't include a lot of the new ones this year I haven't heard yet...
Really good CD... yet another reason Kanye is amazing. He produced the entire album.
Jay-Z brought real hip hop back. I used to hate hip hop.
