Beggars by Thrice.

sammyjenkis898

I'm anxious to hear this. Just got into them. I'm loving everything I hear.

If you have an entire day to burn listen to all their songs..from their first ever to their most recent. The progression and evolution of their music is astounding. The Alchemy Index, Vheissu, and Beggars are 3 of the most amazing albums I've heard EVER. Hands down.

So good.

sammyjenkis898

Been listening to 'The Devil..' so much lately. I ordered Daisy and Deja last night.

Nice. Daisy is pretty different from The Devil and God though. The first time I listened to it I thought I put in the wrong CD, it didnt sound anything like Brand New. Its alot heavier.

That makes me happy.

Most of their albums tend to grow on you over time.

I did that a few days ago, actually. Well, with the exception of Beggars. I just love The Artist in the Ambulance.

Same here. I totally hated that album the first time around and couldn't stand it. Then I forced myself through it and learned to love it.

So far, this is it.

I really want to pick up Brand New's new album, Daisy. I just recently got into them.

Daisy is a lot different than their other stuff, but still good Mine is a split tie between Alexisonfire's - Old Crows, Young Cardinals and Paramore's Brand New Eyes. Brand New Eyes had a fantastic deluxe edition as well.

Same, really like the direction they're taking. They really could have easilly marketed on the poppier success of misery business but they stuck to their guns and wrote this album as a process of how they've grown and changed and did what they needed to do.

They are starting to get more popular. You should listen to their albums Lightbulb sun, Deadwing, and In Absentia.

Film-Guy

Well once I listened to The Incident I immediately proceeded to listen to their older albums... Good stuff.

I'd also like to mention Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. I'm listening to it now and it might be better than Phobia.

Did anyone hear John Frusciante's solo album The Empyrean? Its really good, his best by far next to Curtains. Also Steven Wilson's solo album insurgentes came out in wide release in january, has anyone else heard that?

It's what I expected too. It;s really hard to pick favorites because I really think they all have their awesome points, I'm gonna say my only real complaint is on brick by boring brick, I find that the verses really build up for something big then you hit the chorus, and it sounds awesome, I just feel like I was expecting something really big and agressive. Still a great song though.

Honestly I'm trying to think of a song that really stands out but then I just think of one of the others and I can't decide

I agree with you on Brick by Boring Brick to an extent. I love the end, with the chorus.

I absolutely love Misguided Ghosts. It reminds me of a City and Colour song. All I Wanted is beyond epic. Hayley really takes her vocal talents to another level.

yeah, it is a lot like dallas's style. I totally agree on all I wanted, they picked fantastic opening and ending songs. Her vocals give me the shivers because I know she's pushing it farther than she ever has which is amazing because she already puts in so much. Just overall a great album and I'm really looking forward to catching a show if I get the chance

It's a shame so many people judge them on Misery Business. They're missing out, if you ask me.

I'm seeing them on the 27th. I can't wait.

On a side note, I really hope Dallas makes a City and Colour album by the end of this year/beginning of next year. I would love to see him live.

Yeah, I saw him live before the second album came out and he puts on a good show, wade's side project opened (black lungs) It was really cool because I got to hang out with him and the rest of the guys in AoF after the show. They;'re not coming anywheres near I live but I managed to catch them on warped tour a couple years ago which was really awesome. But I've love to see a show that they're headlining

These are the albums I've heard this year and I think all of them are great. Heaven and Hell - The Devil You Know Street Sweeper Social Club - Self Titled Karnivool - Sound Awake Megadeth - Endgame Pearl Jam - Backspacer Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue I also heard Mastodon's new album but I'm definitely not a fan.

Why is this even debated Crack the Skye by Mastodon.

One song is about the drummer going out in the middle of the night because his dead sister came to him and told him to dig up her body. So he tried, jacked up on acid and scrapping at her grave with his fingernails. Then looking at the sky and thinking of his sister and how much he loved her.

THAT is deep.

09 has been pretty disappointing for me. Only two albums I'd say was fantastic would be Post-Nothing by Japandroids as well as Wavves by Wavves and thats only because I'm on a major noise-rock bent at the moment

I enjoyed The Eternal by Sonic Youth and Horehound by Dead Weather, them being the two albums I was interested in most, but they were fairly "meh" by "best album" standards.

This year I spent collecting good albums by Pavement, Sonic Youth and Steve Albini's projects, because, yes, I buy my music.

just got Kill Hannah's "wake up the sleepers", and I have to say it is my favorite album this year. so many different sounds, this album makes me want to rock out, and dance at the same time, yet has a few trackss that send me into an emotional state like some of radiohead's stuff.

Let them say what they want man, listenining to about half of those I'd definitely have to agree with you.

Who cares if they're bands some people haven't heard of? There's still some remarkable stuff in there.

To narrow it down, I'd go with:

1. The Antlers - Hospice

2. Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer

3. St. Vincent - Actor
