[QUOTE="jointed"]What about the 1996 Manchester bombing? Or the Birmingham pub bombings? You're talking bollocks.

The Manchester bombing was an Economic target, which would hurt the British government, The PIRA give warnings hours before the bombing so that an evacuation could be made. and the same for the Birmingham bombings, warnings were giving, it was because of an incompitent member that such a small warning time was giving. because if you dont know the IRA army council always give warnings before attacks, and as in every military group there is incompitent members.
I'm sorry but summary justice is nothing more than secret police gestapo fear mongering. I admire their desire for indepence but alot of their stuff is uncool. I'm not defending the british occupation or their conduct but I don't think the PIRA is any better.
Violent resistence may have been what was needed but they crossed the line with their choice of tactics.
If I saw a PIRA threating to shoot some guy for stealing liquor or telling somebody to get out of town or they would die I'd do whatever I could to stop them.
You might as well defend the german RAF group both are defunct so it doesn't matter. I'm not trying to offend you personaly but intimidation and fear are not ethical tactics. You want an insurgency target millitary depots and soldiers not production factories and commercial districts.
I can understand where the anger comes from but they are no better than the oppresors they fight.
[QUOTE="snakes_codec"][QUOTE="-Apathy-"]You're all wrong! The best snipers are the Soviets, notice how I said Soviets and not Russians, or the Australians. Look up Billy Sing. He killed 201 soldiers during the Gallipoli campaign.
The Spetsnaz probably have the toughest training. Look up Spetsnaz training. Some of it is really nasty. US SEAL training is a game of Go Fish for the Spetsnaz.
On topic,I think the SASR or the Chindits are the best special forces.
The SASR is an Australian sub-division of the SAS.
The Chindits were a guerrila oriented force who operated behind Japanese lines during WW2.

but torturing a soldier doesn't make him any more capable of firing a weapon than anyone else there good when it come to torture but when the shooting starts especially in hostage rescue situations spetsnaz are tactical inept when it comes to sieging buildings every time they take part in one it turns into a blood bath i remember one particular where Chechen rebels had sezed 52 hostages in a movie theater in this situation the Americans would send in SWAT or the British SO19 would have been able to take care of it but they sent in spetnaz and killed more than half of the hostages .
The hostages dies because of the paramedics, Spetsnaz had nothing to do with it. When they gassed the building, they used a strong paralyzing agent, and when the hostages were finally evacuated after an extremely successful mission the paramedics layed the paralyzed hostages on their backs causing them to choke on their own tongs.but seriously if they were that good then they wouldn't have had to use gas how can you call it a successful mission when you gassed the hostages to has spetsnaz ever heard of flash bangs and controlled explosions ?

What you need to understand is that the PIRA did not expect a military victory, they simply planned to hit Britains economy so that the british government would listen to there aims and an agreement could be drafted up. there was also the problem that the RUC (police service) was a prodominatly protestant organisation and failed to protect the Catholic community along with the court and justice systems, it was the PIRA that took over as the police force in those areas, with open arms to many Catholics. There justice was like any other countries, but insteade of prison sentences they used improvised methods, petty thieves and criminals would get warnings, those putting outers in danger were Knee capped leaving them immobile for a time ( short prison sentence) then there was those dealing in Drugs and high crimes which were told to leave the country (Prison sentence). The PIRA could not just throw them in jail or bring them to court as they didnt have them.
What you also have to look out for is the sources, as many British sources refer to IRA as a whole organisation and not as seperate un-related groups (including wikipedia in some parts) there was a few different forms like the CIRA, RIRA, OIRA which all had there own ideals and policies.
SAS are the best. Hands down. SBS is freakin' good too. JTF2 are beasts and I bet most people here have never heard of them. SEALS are pretty good but from what i've heard Delta is better than them. But honestly the US specops probably aren't in the top 5. GROM and spetz and the three mentioned above probably have better training. US specs have more numbers though.Ace6301
well if delta are better than SEALS then SEALS must be pretty bad, they've failed their missions loads of times
I read the topic to my husband and told him the arguments here lol'd about it. He says British forces cant hold a candle to American forces. If they could they wouldnt have lost the revolution. Yes, he is biast cause he is a member of the greatest non-special forces unit in the world, the 82nd airborne division, US Army Paratroopers.
And he says he knows times have changed but british people still talk funny and have crooked teeth.
Oh god im going to get modded for this. :(

You're probably not getting modded for it. I fail to see why that was necessary though.

Obviously paralyzing everybody minimizes casualties, and makes sure that there is no panic and the guys can work more efficiently. Think about it, the terrorists had their fingers over the triggers all the time, if they wouldn't have gassed them nobody would survive. It was a successful mission from the side of the team, it was team alfa if I remember correctly, because how can you blame the team for the stupidity of a non-involved 3rd party. It is widely known that the west has nothing on spetsnaz, those guying are in and out trained assassins who put mission first and above their own life. Have you ever seen a SEAL or SAS climb buildings with no required equipment, or jumping through class to take out the enemy behind it. Those guys know all the special spots and places on the human body, in order to silently kill or disable an enemy.I read the topic to my husband and told him the arguments here lol'd about it.
