Best State of the United States

All 50 States are unique in their own way. Some have more to offer than others. Which is the best State in the United States and why? I will begin.

My Choice: Massachusetts

Reason: State has a proud history and terrific landmarks. Its home of the best education institutions in the Country (Harvard, MIT, BC). It has the greatest sports fans and the best basketball franchise of all time. It has a solid balance of seasons, with snow in the winter for skiing and warmer weather in the summer for boating, beaching and tanning as well as amazing foliage in the fall. It has a progressive liberal mindset, decriminalized mary jane, strong business and financial centers located in Boston. It also has terrific hospitals and great beaches off of the atlantic ocean.

I'm biased since I'm from New Orleans... but I love Louisiana. It's dirty and there is a lot of crime, but I don't care. I like the culture. There is actually a culture, tradition, and likeness of the people in New Orleans that is different from anywhere else in the U.S.

I live in Houston... and it's nice... but it's lacking any real culture and identity.

Hmmm, its hard to say best as many are best at their respected areas.

I have to side with Texas though.

They have a huge economy with a large supply of jobs from film to programing, and allot of natural resources.

They also have a pretty lax firearms laws and low crime compared to the other mega economy states(California, New York, and Illinois)

And there is a pretty good variety in politics(if your blue, there is Austin)

For refrence I'm from N. Kentucky. I love my state, but economically most my state is behind the times. Louisville great though.

California

Virginia is the best state. You have mountains and beaches plus, the first settlers had settled there and it has more history compared to other states. A war of independence was won there.

definitely Cali. East coast is scorching in summer, freezing in winter, Cali is nice and temperate all year round, plus none of that nasty humidity. Allicrombie

You should have been around in the 80s. Rain up to my ankles on the flight line and 100F temps during the summer as well as all the humidity, not to mention the smog that is still there.

North Dakota. It has a balanced budget and a surplus, it's unemployment is 3% and it doesn't try and regulate the lives of it's citizens.

It would have to be greater than 100% to match even most of the lower population states. Many states have individual cities that have more people.
