Being a christian who believes in tradtional marriage doesn't mean you a hate ful bigot. I am a christian and I don't agree with homosexuality, but I hate the sin, NOT the person. I don't go around gay bashing or any of that stuff, I usally just mind my own business and if the topic comes up in a discusion then I speak my mind in a respecful way. But I DON't like gays trying to force their lifestyle on everyone and if you don't agree with it your labled a bigot and a douchebag etc. That crap is retarded.

Shmiity

There are lots of things I don't like, that doesn't mean it's ok for me to ruin it for everyone else.

If youre anti-gay marriage, youre denying people rights that you already have. Youre denying people- not me. I absolutely think Im better than you. Why can't everyone be equal? Isn't that the whole point of the United States?

That's my point. So he thinks gay marriage is bad, why does what he thinks matter? It's none of his business.

When you stop someone from doing something for no other reason than your own personal bias, then you are a bigot.

The only thing I have seen in this thread is SEANMCAD do is make a fool of himself. With him claiming that all Chick-fil-A sell are chicken nuggets that are crap left and right without really knowing what they sell sure shows his idiocy.

The fil-A part of the name is a play on the word filet and describes what they are selling, a filet of chicken breast. Sure, they sell nuggets too and they are also made from the chicken breast, the better part of the meat as well as using peanut oil to fry the filet and the nuggets in, which is a healthier oil over vegetable oil.

Here are examples of what Chick-fil-A sells:

Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich

Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Sandwich

The second sandwich is the grilled chicken sandwich on a whole grain bun at 290 calories. Not really fattening. Even the fried chicken sandwich is only 440 calories which is again, not really fattening.

As far as losing business, sure, gays or gay groups may boycott the chain, but the fact is, others, who agree with the company's beliefs will flock to them. That will make up for any lost business due to any boycott. While other fast food chains are hitting walls in terms of sales, Chick-fil-A keeps surpassing the others in total sales. Sounds like they are doing something right.

As I said in the other thread, Chick-fil-A has the right to have any beliefs they want, but the government has no right to tell a business that they have to change their beliefs in order to locate in their city. Freedom of religion and freedom of speech are in play. The mayor can say what is on his mind, but he cannot tell a business that they cannot do business in his city just because they do not match his beliefs.

The CEO of chick-fil-a is entirely within his rights to be a raging, rightwing, anti-gay bigot. On the other hand, the shareholders are also within their rights to decide that they should be staying the fvck out of social issues politics and fire his ass in order to bring in someone who will, you know, focus on running a business and making profits for the shareholders rather than using his position as a platform to rant about teh evil gay people.nocoolnamejim

Chick-fil-A isn't a traded company. The CEO and his family, who all hold the same beliefs as him, fully own the business outright.

Fair enough. If it's a Sole Proprietorship business model then he really can say/do whatever the hell he wants within the law and not be answerable to shareholders since he owns it all. But that doesn't mean that there won't be any consequences from a business or political standpoint. Current polling shows that a slim majority of people in the U.S. are now in favor of gay marriage. A larger majority are in favor of SOME form of recognition such as civil unions. From a purely economic standpoint, pissing all those people/potential customers off isn't a particularly smart thing to do. Which is why, once again, transparency is the best disinfectant. If Chick-fil-A was able to just make cute cow commercials for TV and nobody ever knew they were actively funding discrimination against gays, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. Republicans recently filibustered the Disclose Act which would require this sort of transparency. Let the free market decide if this is a smart thing to do. My guess is that, over time, businesses will realize that wading into social issues and spending millions of dollars advancing the viewpoint of some big cheese CEO at the top isn't a wise thing to do. But only if that transparency exists.

1. I was adding flare to make a point. I know they sell other chicken related items other than nuggets but isnt nuggets the largest part of their menu?

2. I am stunned at their sales, like I said its crappy food even in the world of fast food, sales figures dont matter to me. American Teen Idol used to have the highest ratings, its still a crap show I would never bother to watch.

You really are dense. Can you not read? What part of filet of chicken breast do you not understand? If you do understand all of that, then you seriously are the biggest troll in this thread.

Also, what channel does American Teen Idol show on? I haven't heard of that show before, not that I would watch it, but am curious as to what it's about.

The people of Boston are probably better off. Chick-Fil-a is ok, but greasy deep fried chicken that gets most its flavor from MSG loaded batter isn't all that good for you.

1. why is it so hard for people to understand matters of degrees. I am suggesting that MOST but not ALL of the menu is nuggets. have a few sandwhiches on a menu with 1000 mugget options doesnt make my position incorrect. That said I actually am not for sure but let me try and ask again. isnt most of the menu nuggets? yes or no please.

2. American Idol, I dont know what station its on, I watched it once and didnt like it. It might not be on anymore. On that implied note I did try Mr. Nuggets food and like I said, its the same as any other nugget.

No, Chick-fil-A's Menu is not mostly nuggets, it's the chicken sandwich, hence their motto, "We didn't invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich." They sell 7 different chicken sandwiches, nuggets in 8-12 piece (kids have 4-6 piece meals) (from the breast, not processed like McDonald's) and chicken strips (again from the breast) in 3 or 4 piece with smaller amounts for kids. Wraps, salads and breakfast biscuits are also sold. Doesn't look like a nugget store to me, or anyone else.

Since you made the claim, how about showing everyone where you get the information on them using MSG in their foods.

Fair enough, but if you want to avoid MSG, then the chargrilled chicken sandwich is neither fried or have any MSG in it.

fair enough I stand corrected. for some reason I had the impression is was vastly just nuggets and when I was in the store the one time it seemed that was the case to as I recall but I stand corrected.

Damn son. Made to look foolish twice in one thread. You might want to bow out now.

Chick fil a......too expensive for me....there are 2 in the city where I live (Texas)....I've been only a couple times.... Company's personal beliefs are their own...As long as there is no discrimination, they can say that...They don't discriminate at the one's in my city.

True. But it does raise question why such a highly praised manager is suddenly let go a day after not taking part in a group prayer. Anyway, as far as customer discrimination goes, I have never heard anything about an employee refusing service to GLBTs. And what really sucks is that because of the motives of a few COOs and CEOs, EVERYONE tied to Chick-Fil-A is being labeled as bigots now. I still want to eat at Chick-Fil-A because I've always liked the food, but now... all this hubbub is making me think I'M bigot for wanting a chicken sandwich. What worries me even more would be looks I'd get from the gay community seeing me reach into a Chick-Fil-A bag.

Hey you want the chicken....eat the chicken. What some members of the restaurant think isn't important. Society will do what society wants. As for the good report...well that's only the plaintiffs interpretation. And the courts will sort it out if it gets that far.

Boston Mayor Backtracks on Chick-Fil-A and not being welcomed in Boston.

But yesterday, Menino, under fire from civil rights advocates for his avowed suppression of free speech, backtracked, saying, I cant do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there. He whined, Yes, people have criticized me, I understand that. But I have feelings ... I have my First Amendment rights also. Im expressing them. I make mistakes all the time. Thats a Menino-ism.

Its one thing to express yourself, Mr. Mayor; its another to shut down those who disagree with you. To paraphrase Johnny Paycheck, take those feelings and shove them.Linked Article

I have a feeling other mayors will have to make similar retractions since they have come out with similar statements.

I don't think Chick-fil-a gives a crap what the Mayor of Boston thinks. They have two stores in Mass. and neither is even close to Boston proper.

To quote aziz ansari: "People who are opposed to gay marriage are opposed to it simply because they don't like gay people and wanna stick it to 'em. Let's be honest. It's nothing to do with family values or biblical principles. If someone told me they were planning a new law to stop high school jocks from owning property I'd say F*ck yeah that law sounds awesome. Quit acting like it doesn't purely come from a place of hate." Boom.

Alot of people are now going to the very store that some of the people don't like now due to all the attention. Gay people are dumb, they want to go kiss in a store making themselves look stupid. They also got the south wanting to support this food chain now. Good job gays you flamed but are putting this company on the map with christians everyplace. They very people you should be trying to win over you just turned off with this stupid stunt. Seems like the gay plan is to make a ass (lol) of the protesters to draw attention to themselves. People look and say hey look at the gays acting stupid again LOL and go about their biz.

Sure they got their 5mins of fame but did nothing here but prove to the christians that the immoral homo's have no shame.

A lot of Christians don't approve of the anti-gay rhetoric going on in other segments (particularly the younger members). If nothing else, things like this spur conversation between the different factions and promote the sharing of viewpoints. That, in turn, leads to individuals making more informed decisions (given time).

Wait, I thought you are already not in favour of gays.

Why do you feel the need to state your disappointment once more? Did you manage to build up hope for us and our cause sometime between our convo a couple days ago till now? Memory issues perhaps?

Or here is a more plausible story: you're an african american and plenty of times you've expressed how you dont like the gay rights movement being compared to the civil rights movement, of which the black community was a big part of. Based on that, its safe to assume that you're pissed off at gays in general. But because you dont want to be overtly homophobic, you pose as a possible ally to gays, but allas! those gays just lose your support with their stupid stunts, eh? And of course the standards for which gay people have to aim are based on how the black people fought for their rights back in the day. Sounds to me your identity (full to the brim with a persecution complex) just screams for attention, because your ethnic background just cant be diminished by the fight for equality of the homosexuals. A diminishing that exists only in your head.

"Guilty as charged," Cathy said. "We are very much supportive of the familythe biblical definition of the family unit.

U support polygamy, necrophilia and selling women as wives.

Sick.

You as usual miss the whole point. Never had a problem with people being being gay but the way they do things. I talked about this happening in the military and why I steer clear of them due to they drama they in general bring. This is just the latest example of good intentions gone wrong. However I don't like how they do things so that must mean I hate gay people in your one track mind. You want to demonize anybody that does not agree with you knock yourself out talking to you is like talking to a wall. Your as biased as the people you fight against, there are no shades of gray with people like you. I have no doubt you will take what I say out of context and go put your own spin on my post. You are a perfect example of why I don't get involved with hard liner wack jobs no matter what their cause it just so happens that your gay Can't be any more clear so I give up talking to wack jobs because in their mind their way is the only way.

I just dont buy it that you once had no problem at all and now you just steer clear of them due to the drama... and yet you comment on almost every gay rights related thread in the same manner. You're doing a good job at avoiding drama, dont you... For someone who professes to dislike drama, you sure do invest a lot of time whining in those threads.

Like I told you last time its very convenient for you to assume that I treat everyone who disagrees with me the same way. The problem is, you're just not one of the people who deserve my respect. My advice to you is to simply deal with it in stead of making your persecution complex even more obvious.

The bottomline is that the truthfulness of your good intentions just doesnt show.

A lot of Christians don't approve of the anti-gay rhetoric going on in other segments (particularly the younger members). If nothing else, things like this spur conversation between the different factions and promote the sharing of viewpoints. That, in turn, leads to individuals making more informed decisions (given time).

Any head way gays were making with young christian people just went out the window with this stunt. Christians in general don't like the displays of public affection or most regular people. Now their parents the old hard liners will say look at that the gays are acting up do you want to be a part of that??

Any decent kid will answer no and look at gays in a negative light. They will then bring out the bible and pray and that young person will now be conditioned to stay away from the evil gay people. As for the biased people the gays just gave them a place to spend their money to support their views. This is a perfect example of gays shooting themselves in the foot with their good intentions.

I've told you before: I do not care what you think (or irrational people think) it takes for someone to be accepted. The purpose of that "stunt" is not a better image anyway. You must be dense to not realise this. Or you simply hold a conventionally "high" standard for such causes so you can easily reject them as "inneffective". Does it piss you off that perhaps homosexuals take a more ballsy approach to it than your ideal fight for rights you so eagerly project as the right one?

Any decent kid will do that? Yeah if their parents are idiots and/or if their environment is such to harbor such reactions. People kiss in public every day. I dont see how something like that even in a coordinated fashion suddenly becomes deplorable.

Good intentions? I'm pretty sure its been established you dont even know what the intentions are. The public kissing day was to actually cause a stir. Did you not... realise that?

Your "logic" so far is pretty funny. Keep posting, by all means.
