[QUOTE="achilles614"]]I didn't have her class today, but was talking with some friends on the issue. Apparently you don't have to pledge but you do have to stand up (for some reason) and signing the student code of conduct in the beginning of the year basically yields most of your rights (freedom of speech for example).Vandalvideo
You're a minor, you can't sign legally binding contracts to begin with.

Generally true, but not always. The infancy doctrine has some exceptions. Random examples: cases of emancipation, ratification, necessity, misrepresentation or tortious damage.

I've always been forced to do it, at least until last year. I'm once again forced to do it this year. I never really found it necessary.

I only read the first 2 pages (50 posts per page) (this thread is huge), and all the people saying it's not worth to do something about it, and just stand up and do the pledge because it would make things easier.....you're all sheep. Imagine if the marines who you keep going on about thought like that. What if they just decided, "ya know what, just giving up and doing what the enemy says would be a lot easier, so let's do that"?

Doing the pledge against your will would be a slap in the face to all the people who died so you could choose whether or not you want to.

If you [OP] haven't done so already, I'd say complain. Your teacher is crazy.
