You kinda need the same for football too... Suddenly not everyone can play it anywhere...

horgen123

For soccer, assuming you're going to enforce your own rules, all you need is a ball, goal boundries (which can be two rocks) and people to play. Football, you have gear/equipment so you don't die and field goal posts which are much harder to simulate than a soccer goal. The bottom line is cost. Soccer costs nothing beyond the ball.

And a little creativity you can get American football down to the same costs... Or is it simply so hard to follow the rules without a judge in American football?

I certainly wouldn't agree that Woods = golf. What is he, tenth-from-last on the money list this year? If you want to talk about people who were good in the past, Nicklaus achieved far more than Woods.

All those sports, and no hockey? That one is easy, anyway, because there's one person that holds virtually all offensive records in that sport.

As far as the basics, yeah I'd say it's harder to enforce football without the refs but it can still be done.

So would you separate hockey into a best offensive player and a best goalie or the best offensive player is just best in general?

We can separate them. Best goalie of all time, I'd say the all-time-wins leader Patrick Roy. He was also instrumental in changing the game (by popularizing the butterfly style). Defenseman are more difficult, though, because what do you base that on? Most scoring (which is an offensive attribute)? Or do you do plus-minus? It's tough to find an attribute with which to determine defensive prowess. I'm not sure that they track steals and/or forcing turnovers (though they might).

...and a strongman that got dq'ed for roids

Oh please.. Don't bother. EVERY STRONGMAN and EVERY POWERLIFTER and EVERY BODYBUILDER takes steroids. The only difference is, Mariusz took one pill too much, enough to get caught on the test. Doesn't change the fact that Mariusz Pudzianowski holds a dozen world records in strength and won the Met-rx World's Strongest Man competetion five times, while having served time in jail, having a damaged calf, and retiring and a very early age. Pudzian could've easily won 7 times, no idea why he quit something he was #1 at, to something he is a "regular professional" at. He also has the highest performance metric of any Strongman, only Savickas Zydrunas comes close, and he's "only" won WSM twice. Jon Pall Sigmarsson and Magnus Ver Magnusson are the only ones that come close to Pudzians WSM titles (with 4 each, compared to his 5) but have no where near the amount of records, performance metric etc...

Oh and did I forget to tell you Pudzian did all that while still having a sixpack and looking ripped?

All of the aforementioned strongmen are fat and look horrible, but are some of the strongest men in the world... Just not quite as strong as the guy above ;)

I think that it is generally agreed upon that soccer (also known in some places as "football" for some inexplicable reason) isn't actually a real sport.

To be fair Football sounds more logical with "Soccer" compared to american "Football" anyway... their both s***.

Okay not EVERY BODYBUILDER/POWERLIFTER/STRONGMAN takes roids. Jesus that assumption pisses me off.

Look at the top 30 greatest strongmen of all time. ALL of them take roids. Maybe the GREATEST NATURAL STRONGMAN of all time is like #31... Way behind the likes of Mariusz Pudzianowski, Jon Pall Sigmarsson, Magnus Ver Magnusson, Benedikt Magnusson, Zydrunas Savickas, Paul Anderson, Bill Kazmaier, Geoff Capes, Svend Karlsen, etc.. Strongman juice all year round but they stop their cycles JUST BEFORE the strongmen compeitions they join so that they don't "get caught", but there's no secret that they all take it up the.. theigh :P

Saying a strongman doesn't take roids is like saying a marathon runner doesn't drink water.

It's only the most played sport because anyone can play it, anywhere. Not because it's good.Pirate700
Yeah sure, simplicity is ONE of the reasons why football is the most popular sport, but come on.. Not good? At all? Well okay, it's a matter of preference indeed so we can't argue there, i for one find American football excruciatingly boring, along with baseball. Hockey is fun though, but that one's considered a Canadian sport i think...

Boxing = Mike TysonMozelleple112
Ah, what? Mike Tyson. He doesn't even deserve to be included on top ten list. Sure, he was good, had a heavy and precise punch but he fought mostly bums and washed up boxers. He lost when it counted, to Lewis and Holyfield. His trainer dying had a lot to do with it, things went downhill from there. I think that people say he's the greatest because of aggresive fighting **** he's one of the recent good boxers and one of the most memorable. But that doesn't make him the greatest, not by a long shot.

Ali on the other hand, he fought in the golden era of boxing. Foreman, Frazier, Shavers, Norton, Cooper... These were all great boxers defeated by Ali (some more than once). He also never lost by KO and has won the heavyweight title three times, and that was a lot harder back then so Holyfield's four aren't exactly a match. He took part in several historic bouts, like The Thrilla in Manilla, The Fight of the Century and The Rumble in the Jungle.

If there was to be a discussion about who's the greatest boxer of all times, it should be about Ali, Sugar Ray and Louis. Tyson doesn't belong here.

[QUOTE="Mozelleple112"]Boxing = Mike TysonMozelleple112

Ah, what? Mike Tyson. He doesn't even deserve to be included on top ten list. Sure, he was good, had a heavy and precise punch but he fought mostly bums and washed up boxers. He lost when it counted, to Lewis and Holyfield. After his trainer died had a lot to do with it, things went downhill from there. I think that people say he's the greatest because he is the most recent good boxer and one of the memorable because of his aggresive fighting **** He had talent but he's not the greatest, not by a long shot.

See this is why I didn't want to put a boxer king.

lol :D
