I don't understand this whole situation with the store. Obviously the CEO made a mistake by saying he didn't support gay marriage. But I have worked at chick fil a for two years. There were 3 coworkers of mine that were gay Chick Fil A doesn't have a problem hiring gay people. I worked with them at the store itself! Yes, a fast food resturant shouldn't have a stance on gay marraige at all. It's bad for business. But honestly, the stores are very clean, and the food is good. That should be all that matters. Especially since there are homosexuals who work for the company.

People still have the right to boycott it if they want though. I'm not totally sure what your point is.

It's not like it's the best food ever but I'd take Chick-Fil-A over most fast food places.

It's mediocre at best and is absurdly overpriced.

He didn't make a mistake by saying the company doesn't support gay marriage. And about the boycott, no they don't have a right to do that if they are planning on doing it on the property of the business without purchasing a product there. A business can tell you to get off their property if you aren't there to engage in commerce with the business. However, if they are standing on the sidewalk or other public property then they can do it.

A boycott is just refusing to buy anything from them. Going into chick-fil-as and annoying them is an entirely different matter.

There are none, I believe, in the capital region. I haven't eaten there, either. Probably never will.

People aren't boycotting just because of what the CEO said but because Chick-Fil-A donates to organizations that are actively against same sex marriage. Which IMO is worthy of a boycott.

It shouldn be all that matters. If a restaurant is giving money to a cause you disagree with then it perfectly reasonable to not want to give them your business.

Why would people be standing inside a building if they're boycotting it? Or even on the sidewalk?

Are you confusing "boycott" with "protest"?

Pfft, think a little harder here. Your HIRING MANAGER doesn't have a problem with gay people. The CEO doesn't approve or deny every application personally. He doesn't know that your manager hires gay people or doesn't.

I'll copy and paste what I said on the other thread:

You're confusing the issue. People (me included, even though I love their food), boycott Chick Fil-A not because they don't support homosexuality (I don't give a damn what other people think), but because they actually donate to organizations that actively try to get legislation passed that would limit the civil liberties of gays. Thus, when you buy that delicious sandwhich, it comes at a price; more than likely some of your money is going to opress people.

There are no Chick Fil A chains in my state. It doesn't exist here. However I think people are blowing this whole thing out of proportion, the CEO never said he hated gay people, and they have a right to use their money to fund what they want.

I am not sure as to what bills or legislation they try to fund though, so can't comment on that, but the statement did not seem homophobic to me.

Ironically it's funny how the atheist community here on OT is yelling bigot, but yet I can gurantee you if Chick Fil A was funding atheist groups and bills going against religion they would all be singing a different tune and be praising and defending they guy.

Sounds like a new inquisition to me (on far lesser terms). If I don't agree with gay marriage my business should be boycotted and shut down. Really? So a man can't give his opinion?

The thing is, he was asked about HIS opinion. He didn't make an announcement by holding a press conference at a GLBT rally! Someone asked him.

I commend him for standing up for his beliefs.

They have church. Public school is for education, not indoctrination. If you're not happy with that, go to one of the numerous private christian schools. As a wise man once said, "Don't pray in my school, and I won't think in your church".

No, the legislation says that public schools can't sponsor religious activities, which is consistent with Supreme Court precedent.

Christians can still pray in public, and even in schools.

The school just can't organize/mandate/endorse any prayer. See the difference?

Seriously folks. It's just another fast-food joint. Only difference is the crazy prices, they're closed on Sundays and their owners hate gay people.
