[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]An opinion by a mayor would be that they disagree with the CEOs opinion. And it is just the CEO I believe.....look how many people would be out of work if the business was hurt. Does that seem like it's helping society? Why is it ONLY one group that matters? The ramifications are far beyond gay people not marrying.Slow_Show
The "what about the jobs?" argument doesn't hold water:
1) Assuming the owners of CFA have more than a couple of brain-cells to rub together, they'd stop supporting anti-gay causes well before any boycott significantly affected CFA's financials.
2) The economy is so complex and so intertwined that any issue is naturally going to impact the job market somehow. Case in point, legalizing gay marraige would be huge boon to the various service/hospitality industries associated with weddings.
3) CFA ain't exactly the only fast-food restaurant out there, and while I've never had it myself I can't imagine it's so good that it's customers will refuse to eat anywhere in the event it did go out of business. The demand will just shift to KFC/McDonalds/Some upstart that fills the void, and KFC/McDonalds/the upstart will have to hire new employees in order to fill that demand. As unfortunate as it would be, it would only be a temporary disruption for most CFA employees (and, as pointed out above, would only occur if CFA is so stupid as to run their corporation into the ground over this).
And yet unemployment is high and you want to increase it. With thinking like that...you should be a politician.
