If Satan doesn't do what God wants, why does God send souls to Hell? God could make a place for the souls he doesn't want in Heaven that is outside of Satan's jurisdiction, yet sends them to Satan. If Satan is doing things God doesn't approve of, why does he send souls under his control into Satan's possesion?

It's not that God "sends souls under his control into Satan's possession" but all are because of our sin nature Satan's possession from the beginning. However, it is by God's grace that we can break free from this slavery to sin and can instead become sons of God.

This.

Satan in no way "owns" Hell, it was designed as his eternal punishment because he disobeyed God.

I love to talk to Jesus Christ about my anus problems due to anal sex. I'm in Hell and thats where Satan told me to go at least.

He said JC would know since he is affiliated with the Catholic Church.

Should I believe him?

If the Christian God thinks he cannot make souls to live in humans on Earth without ultimately torturing some in Hell for eternity, then why is having humanity worth it? Wouldn't the benevolent choice be to not make humanity?

Yes, there is indeed a need for the presence of churches because of Satan's earthly dominion. A light in the darkness, so to speak. And yes, I know that's not what you meant. :P

Think of it as weeding out the disloyal from the loyal. Best way to know how faithful your followers are is to test them with the Devil and his temptations and torments.

That depends upon the definition of benevolent. This question is akin to the abortion debate. That is, if a parent knows that his child will be retarded should the parent abort the child or allow for life? In a similar manner, should God in knowing that men will fall into sin simply "abort" the creation or should he allow for life? Personally speaking, in both occasions I believe the latter is the more benevolent choice.

hmm. so god made a tree of fruit that would eternally bind us to hell if adam or eve ate from it? point is moot though because jesus died for our sins so it's as if hell doesn't exist.

Did God get "pregnant" with the creation of humanity or something? How was it not under his control to not start making it? You can't abort a project you never started.

Christianity: Satan doesn't exist. There is in fact a god of death, possibly named Lucifer who does as God commands, but there isn't a satan.

Assuming Satan is a literal thing: Read Dante Alighieri's description of the Ninth Circle of Hell. Satan doesn't "do" anything. It is a punishment as much for him as anyone sent there.

First, hell is not satan's domain. It was created for him and the angels that followed him against God and His angels. Second, God doesn't send anybody to hell. People go of their own free will. God gives them a choice. Give your heart to Jesus Christ, and Heaven is your eternal home. Reject Him, and you make hell your eternal home. You gotta understand that satan is already doomed to hell. Also, God has forseen that a lot of people have chosen hell as their home. This is why people have a hard time perceiving that predestination and personal choice aren't mutually exclusive. God knew us before we were born, and he knew what we would choose, but we have to be free to make the choices of where we want to go. This is why God hardened Pharoah's heart when he had decided to let God's people go. God used Pharoah to show the children of Israel that He would take care of them. Pharoah served false gods, so his fate had already been sealed. hope this helps.

I have no idea. I was neither there, nor have I read the original Greek manuscript detailing that passage. I don't doubt however, that the word used for "Satan" was one that could be translated in different ways, and didn't necessarily refer to "the Devil" as known to Medieval Europe. Satan and Hell's presence in the New Testament is scant, which is odd since so many people these days believe the myth of Satan with such tenacity.

God doesn't hate Satan. He punishes him out of Satan's own sins. @someone else Satan doesn't rule over hell, he is being punished in it, just as every evil soul.

Why does God need these other beings? If he thinks to have other beings, he must torture some of them, then why make them? Why can't he be satisfied with himself and torutring no one?

Listen, God wants to be worshipped. He wants to be loved. He wants a people that will choose Him over all else. He does everything He can to try and get people to see that He loves them, but some people just don't want to see that.

if god hates satan, why not destroy him? isn't god all powerful? didn't god create hell? If i was god and there was some evil demon tempting and tormenting my followers, i would just destroy him with a snap of the fingers. Good fairy tale to scare the living crap out of kids though, i'll give the christians that....

Think of it as weeding out the disloyal from the loyal. Best way to know how faithful your followers are is to test them with the Devil and his temptations and torments.

So you think Satan is the ruler of Hell?

No. Satan does not rule Hell. He hasn't even been there. His domain is the world we live in and he is the "god of this World". The only reason he's in power is because God wants to find out who will be loyal to him regardless of what they're tempted with or tormented with. This will go on till the return of Christ where Satan and his followers will be defeated. Then there is this 1000 year kingdom (the millenial kingdom) where the world will know true peace under Jesus' rule. After that period, Satan will once again be sent out into the world. This is to prove that even after we experience true peace, people will still want to rebel Divine rule. This final rebellion will be very short. God will destroy all the rebellious people and then Judgement begins. Heaven will move to the Earth and God will rule Earth along with Jesus.
