[QUOTE="kuraimen"] I just quoted a source where the term is used as I intended :|musicalmac
A source that stated there were many different "Church" institutions, not one, singular "Church" entity.
Do people with HIV still have sex?AussieePet
Yes. Some more responsibly than others...

Well then if you need that I rephrase my statement I was talking about Christian institutions in general...

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Your opinions you mean?LordQuorthon

It's a fact until proven otherwise. That is how logic works and that is why faith has nothing to do with logic. That doesn't make faith inherently good or bad, it just happens to walk an entirely different path that is not related to logic.

What really amazes me about believers is that they are almost physically unable to be content with their faith. They have to use broken logic to go to the Internet and "prove" non-believers that their illogical beliefs are true. I say that's just doubt... And when it comes to faith, doubt is understandable; just keep it to yourself and let other people be.

It's not a fact that something does or not exist due to opinion. Science answers how the natural world developed and works. A supernatural being is not of the natural world. So stating that because we humans cannot find at this time more out than we are familiar with does not actually say anything to the logicality of what may or may not exist. You cannot take the limitations of humans and assume we know everything.

There are slightly different strains of HIV. If you already have one, getting infected with another one will make the disease far less manageable.

You know, I would have taken the old Hegelian "God exists because men created it in their minds" over all that nonsense.

Right, I understand that. You can't do that, every institution is different, very, very different. Doing so is just an irrisponsible and casual way to generalize something you don't subscribe to. It's short-sighted, naive, and foolish. Trying to generalize Christian sects as the "Church" is like trying to generalize countires on the Earth as, the "Country".

No. It depends on whether he exists or not and, until he shows his face on TV and tells us all about how great it was to pork his sister or we see him rocking arenas around the world with his mad guitar skills, it is a fact that he doesn't exist.

Your opinions you mean? I can't take that as proof dude. I mean I can think you're an overweight 40 year old virgin in mom's basement. I have no proof any of that is true. But since I have no proof it isn't....using your logic.....I'm dead on.

Also, AIDS is an immune deficiency. In fact, that's all there is to it. You don't technically die of AIDS, you die because AIDS makes your immune system weak and something as relatively simple as a mild case of pneuomonia can get you killed. Most STDs can be cured rather easily, but having AIDS and any other STD (or any other disease for that matter) is not exactly a great scenario.

There are so many christian institutions like that that I don't see generalizing as completely inaccurate. Although I also mentioned the Theology of Liberation which is also a christian institution as a counter example so I didn't think it would get misunderstood. I use that term all the time while colloquially speaking and people normally understand what I mean. That doesn't mean I think all christians or all chiristian institutions are bad but at least the biggest and most vocal ones are IMO.

There's no one to blame but the people in this situation. All the people in Youtube comments calling for this to be outlawed, what are you trying to outlaw? Freedom of speech, religion? Think about what you say.

You know there is something wrong when people would rather listen to a priest than a doctor who actually knows what he is talking about.

He's not mad he is just deluded and been brainwashed in to believing theres a man with a beard who lives in the clouds since he was a little boy. He believes what hs parents have told him to believe no doubt and as his parents have never dared question it and give it some real thought he has not either because if he did his parents would probably disown him or something less but equally as harsh.

I haven't discussed any personal beliefs here. Straw man of the year goes you President_Logan. He made a statement. He called it fact. And I want to see the evidence of said fact. Without evidence/proof.....nothing is fact. Period.

This makes less sense than everything else combined thus far.

You could not be more naive. Or dishonest. It's just too hard to tell at this point. Your opinion is based not upon education and understanding, but on subjective personal experiences, making your posts a worthless waste of page space. This is not me calling you a worthless poster, I'm not in the business of assigning blame or name-calling. I am, however, of the belief that honesty is the best policy. And your beliefs on this subject are so off target that even the thought of injecting yourself into the conversation is a waste of not only our time, but yours, as well.

I have difficulty tolerating irrisponsible posting on issues that have shaped history, culture, politics, and just about every other fascet of life as we know it.

Actually is not that much based on personal experiences, I'm looking more into the history of institutionalized religion specifically christianity in this case. You gotta admit that doesn't put religion in a good light. But I guess we would have to agree to disagree.

I've pretty much had that band in my sig since I started posting in OT. And I've had serious discussions during that time. Facts say no once again to labavo.
