How is it not?:? It makes a mockery of someone who people view as a messiah.CannedWorms
How is it a mockery?
How is drawing Mohammad disrespectful? CannedWorms
"The Qur'an does not explicitly forbid images of Muhammad, but there are a few hadith (supplemental traditions) which have explicitly prohibited Muslims from creating the visual depictions of figures under any circumstances. Most contemporary Sunni Muslims believe that visual depictions of the prophets generally should be prohibited, and they are particularly averse to visual representations of Muhammad. The key concern is that the use of images can encourage idolatry, where the image becomes more important than what it represents. Other Muslims have taken a more relaxed view. Most Shi'a scholars accept respectful depictions and use illustrations of Muhammad in books and architectural decoration, as have Sunnis at various points in the past. However, many Muslims who take a stricter view of the supplemental traditions, will sometimes challenge any depiction of Muhammad, including those created and published by non-Muslims."

[QUOTE="Animatronic64"]A mockery? Okay, maybe Raptor Jesus is a mockery, but Buddy Christ sure as hell isn't. CannedWorms

 Do you not think it's disrespectful to Christians to see the man they worship be depicted as someone who winks while grinning? They may not kill people to show their annoyance, but they would definitely find it disrespectful.

What, are you trying to say that Jesus isn't capable of winking and grinning?

This is hilarious.. Buddy Jesus is him pointing, winking and smiling.. The Mohammad drawings predominately were ones of a terrorists or other such things that was clearly meant to offend.. Not him being dressed up as the Fonz saying "Heyyyy!".

This sort of religious hatred (from the other side), ironically, was part of the reason 9/11 happened.

You're right, I apologize. What I meant to say is shame on the extremists who want to do the same thing as Muslim extremists. Which I don't understand why because neither the Qur'an nor Islam teaches hate or killing.

In terms of society, it's foolish. But in terms of Christianity it seems extreme. How anyone could argue Jesus would support the ignorant persecution of another religion is beyond me.

Are you honestly saying that them burning a book is the same as what the terrorists did back on 9/11 by killing people and destroying 2 buildings plus a part of the pentagon. Is that what you are comparing? Book burning to the murder of thousands?

I don't see any persecution happening either, the only thing that's suffering from this act is the tree in which the paper came from, and the person's wallet who bought the book... :?

Edit: Again, not extreme.

The two are not comparable, killing people and burning paper are nothing alike. Many people don't have positive veiws of Islam for the simple reason that all that comes out of it is violence. I think burning the Koran is more a test for the so-called "peaceful Muslims" and non-extrmeists. If they will resort to violence acts based on this, well then those that are burning the book are proving their point.

Tolerance and religion have always been hard to intertwine. Let's look at the Middle East and other countries that have Sharia Law and let's see how they "respect" practical things like woman's rights.

It's an act that'll solve nothing and flare up tempers. But, it's an act which they're entitled to, no matter how buck-toothed and slacked-jawed one has to be to think up such a thing.
