I find this to be true almost 100% of the time.

Walking around town, I'll see many ugly people wearing tool and metallica t-shirts.

I've yet to see somebody even remotely good looking wear a tool t-shirt. Ever. I'm pretty sure you have to smoke only the worst weed, have only ugly friends, drop out of community college and apply at guitar center to "get" this band. Seriously.

On the other hand, when I'm seeing some cool band play, I notice I'm surrounded by only the most attractive people my town has to offer. No tool fans in sight. Nearly every coffeeshop barista is prettier than 90 percent of the human population, and most of the time, they're hip to some new sounds.

GS, answer my questions:

Does bad music make people unattractive?

OR

Do ugly people just flock to bad music?

Would you hit on a guy/girl that was into Motley Crue?

Regardless of reality, should ugly people listen to good music just in case it helps them even a little?

Discuss.

Depends on the person's perception of what good music is. What's good to one person, may be totally bad to another. Also on how you view good looking people, what may be an ugly person to one, may be beautiful to another.

why does this matter
what you look like has nothing to do with music
i find a lot of girls that like rock music hot
and some girls that like rap are either hot or ugly in my book
boy now that i think about it
this is stupid........

1. That's some "interesting" logic, you're shallow... :|

2.

I find this to be true almost 100% of the time.

Walking around town, I'll see many ugly people wearing tool and metallica t-shirts.

I've yet to see somebody even remotely good looking wear a tool t-shirt. Ever. I'm pretty sure you have to have a different taste and diferent personality than me to "get" this band. Seriously.

On the other hand, when I'm seeing some band I like play, I notice I'm surrounded by only the most attractive people my town has to offer. No tool fans in sight. Nearly every coffeeshop barista is prettier than 90 percent of the human population, and most of the time, they like the same music I do.

GS, answer my questions:

Does music I don't like make people unattractive?

OR

Do ugly people just flock to music I don't like?

Would you hit on a guy/girl that was into Motley Crue?

Regardless of reality, should ugly people listen to music I like just in case it helps them even a little?

Fixed. ;)

Edit: I don't even like tool or metallica, but dude, come on...

This was taken at a metallica concert. Greenshirt bro might pass as an ok looking dood if it wasn't for his willingness to throw a "metal gang sign" and the the expression he has on his face that basically says "I'm so shocked I'm in the front row at metallica yall." All of these people's weekends probably consist of playing secret games of beer pong in their parents basement and sneaking outside to "have a crucial smokedown, bro."

I happen to like Mötley Crüe and Metallica...does that make me unatractive aswell? It's bollocks to say "good music is for good looking people" when good music is what you make it to be..

So now looks have nothing to do with how you actually look, but with whether or not you "throw signs", and the kinds of signs you throw?

Interesting. I take it if someone's taste in music is different from yours it also affects how attractive they are regardless (again) of how they actually look? No wonder you claim 90% of the people you see on the street are ugly...

Do you know what the google images results for "female metallica fan" are?

Just a bunch of dudes with long hair. No actual females for pages.

As much as I'd love to judge metallica ladiez, there just arn't any.

What does that have to do with anything? :|

No, I'm not really the headbanger type, nor do I usually hang out with metalheads. The only things that identify me as a "metalhead" are my music taste, my long hair and my black clothes because black happens to be my favorite color, but I don't consider myself a metalhead, I don't label myself, I'm just me.

And I don't think Sonata Arctica has an outstanding guitarist, you can see similar skills pretty much everywhere in metal, just like almost all the metal I listen to, I like Sonata Arctica for their extremely melodic arrangements, I'm not into the whole "brutal" stuff, though I do appreciate growling whenever it's used.

Just because you're not wearing a Tool shirt doesn't mean you don't like the band, it just means that you're not insecure about your appearances. I don't think it's so much about the music itself, but rather the idea that Metallica or Tool is tough, and by wearing one of their shirts people will somehow forget how ugly you are and think "Hey man, this guy's tough. He's ugly as sin, but I wouldn't want to mess with him. He's cool."

Lets tie this all together here.

If you think what is played on the radio is techno, you've probably never heard what is on the radio or actual techno. If you've never heard either, that means that you've probably never actually been around any of the good looking girls around you because, as you stated "they all listen to techno." If you can't hang out with pretty girls, it might have something to do with you listening to metallica. So, which came first, your inability to hang out with pretty girls, or listening to metallica? This will answer one of the questions I asked in my original post: Do uglies listen to metallica or does metallica make you an uglie?

I can and do hang out with pretty girls. Most girls where I live aren't shallow enough to dislike someone because they aren't good looking or listen to Metallica.

I can and do hang out with pretty girls. Most girls where I live aren't shallow enough to dislike someone because they aren't good looking or listen to Metallica.

I'd like to know where you live. Also, what do you have to take to get there? :P

Well, when I say most girls I probably mean some of the girls.

Argh, ok, now that the awkwardness has gone away...

My main point here is: WTF does being ugly or not have to do with music??? I would understand having an "underground" taste in music would make you unattractive to the "cool" mainstream kids, but that has nothing to do with looks, and in any case, odds are any underground music will be of much better quality and musicianship than anything "hip" kids listen to...

Also, the only people who wear metal t-shirts to feel "tough" and confident are angsty 13 year olds, most non-teenager metalheads will just enjoy the music and won't care about appearances. Besides, most teenage kids wanting to be "tough" will listen to stuff like Korn and Linkin Park and think it's the most badass, "hardcore" music ever conceived, so metal doesn't even have to do with this in most cases...
