I don't. I tried, and while I'm very open-minded, I (so far) just can't believe in anything besides eternal death.

It affects each and everything I do. I try to live life to the fullest while still securing my future. Of course I'm not yet where I want to be, but if I'm happy then the rest is just secondary, right?

What about you guys? Any life advice is welcome, we never stop learning.

Well, I used to be a firm believer, but now I'm not so sure. I mean, the idea of an afterlife certainly seems like it could've just been manufactured by people to cope with the hopelessness of the dark concept that once we die, it's game over. I can't help but still hope there is something after, though.

That's a bar on Omega right? Some guy tried to poison me there once!

Nah I don't believe in an afterlife. I believe that, when you die, your body's resources just rejoin the rest of the gunk here and, eventually, get used to make more people, animals, plants whatever. The only thing that lives on is your impact on the people you leave behind.

Jsut my opinion.

I tend to look at it this way: either there is an afterlife, or there isn't. If there is, no problem; if there isn't, then we won't be around to know that there isn't.

I'm content with being able to provide a good life for my family, and securing enough wealth so they'll be able to live comfortably when I'm gone.

The after-life really means nothing to me, at the moment.

so thats an incredibly short and not nearly informative emough take on the possibility of existence after death via quantum physics.

I tend to look at it this way as well. It doesn't affect my life whatsoever, because I have no power over whether there is an afterlife or not. I prefer to focus on things I can control within the moment.

To be honest I haven't even gave thought to the concept of an afterlife for over a year now.

I don't care. I can never experience an afterlife until I'm DEAD. Nobody actually knows what the afterlife is like.

Every religious scripture, "out of body" experience, "near death" experience, all accounts of an afterlife are always from OTHER PEOPLE.

freetoex

Nope. Sometime's I'd like to be able to belief for the comfort it would bring but, for the most part, my belief makes sense to me. It also provides a bunch of fun arguments when people come door knocking and trying to convince me of something or other. Love debating with those guys :D

I do believe that when you die, you don't go to heaven and it's the end of yourself. However, I do believe in some kind of reincarnation.

Yes I do believe in it and yes it does greatly influence my life. Rather than living my life for the sake of the moment, earthly possessions, or emotional giddiness, I live for the sake of eternity and the eternity of others. Rather than fearing my own death, I seek to live in such a way that others might find the Giver of Life and author of all things good.

I believe in something. What that is, and how it affects my life, I can't really say. I know in my heart that there's more to everything than any of us could ever understand or comprehend, and when I'm mean't to know (if I am mean't to know at all), I will. I know God isn't what our society has come to believe and understand, but that's only cause we've spent thousands of years trying to comprehend the Will and personality of a being that is literally beyond anything we CAN understand.

I don't believe in the afterlife. I see no reason to. It does affect my life. If there was a heaven where God demanded you to accept Jesus to get in, I would probably be more willing to evangelize. Then again, I'm really shy, so perhaps not.

I find that to be an interesting thought. I say this in part because of my own theological beliefs. Basically, I'm under the theological belief that God is going to save whomever he wishes to save and thus my evangelism efforts only work if God wishes for them to work. In and of themselves, my efforts are worthless. Why do I still evangelize? It is commanded in Scripture and how can I not speak about the one I love? "For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard" (Acts 4:20).

believing in an afterlife is just the way of putting your mind at ease because it's impossible to think there will be nothing and you will cease to exist because you see things all the time from the day you are born and there was never nothing.

it would be fun though.

Everyone dies. If you die, and there is an afterlife, good for you, if there isn't one... you will be dead so you won't care.

No, I don't believe that anything happens after death. I don't believe in any sort of afterlife. I haven't for a while. I don't believe in any higher beings or powers, and I don't believe in a universal purpose or meaning of life. A lot of people either call me stupid or depressing for this, but I'm actually quite content with it. The idea of an afterlife scares me, to be honest, so the way that I think is more 'comforting' to me.

Well, the atoms of my body don't go away when I die, so I guess that is an "afterlife" of sorts.

I think notions of an afterlife in a religious/spiritual sense are just metaphors for the interchangeability of matter and energy coupled with the indestructibility of energy.

The ancients had similar thoughts and theories as we do, but perhaps they lacked the language to express these ideas. Instead of speaking through equations for example, they used analogy.

My initial response is "I Dont know, will never know, so I dont really think about it"

however, part of me thinks that A.) eternal punishment is too great a punishment; sorry, but not even Hitler or the greatest of baby murderers deserve such a harsh deal, and B.) eternal heaven might be eternally boring.

Can't we just be happy in this life and do our best here, instead of trying to live a life we dont want so we get on God's good side (if it even exists)?

Nope. I believe that there is part of the human body that most likely continues on after death (an energy that pervades despite the death of the physical body) but I do not believe that either our consciousness or "self" continues on after death. Consciousness is the result of our brain chemistry and its interaction with the physical world (i.e. through the senses).

I am a slight proponent of the idea of reincarnation... but not in the sense that is commonly understood. This isn't a process where a "soul" leaves one physical body and gets born in another based on its deeds in life... but merely that "energy" being reintegrated back into a new physical form, whether wholly or partially I couldn't tell you.

Yeah. That's the same way I view reincarnation, though some would probably argue how did that energy get reintegrated into a new body without divine interventon....

My opinion on that matter is completely complex and would have me typing a long explanation that would probably get overlooked. I've came up with multiple theories though....

I don't. because: 1)Humans always tried to cover their weaknesses.By inventing, making, destroying, changing. But somethings are still unknown such as afterlife. I think that some are trying to cover one of humanity's fears:being destroyed! 2)If you don't have a good life in the world that %100 exists, whats the guarantee that you'll have a good life in the world that might not exist?! If you don't have a good life in the world that %100 exists, whats the guarantee that you'll have a good life in the world that might not exist?! according to those sentences,we should live our life here and don't think of these things too much! ;-) We will only live once! All of us,so try to enjoy life in this world. If there was another one,try to enjoy that one too. :-D

I most certainly do, becuase I like magical things. You see I believe that what I am is not my body alone, and by the power of magic I'll continue to live for eternity. Dunno about the hows or whys of it tho.

Yes, just as you'd 'continue to exist' if I eliminated one of your dimensions by cutting you into a thin sliver
