The point is we do not know the full story, yea Zimmerman did act like an idiot. But did that empower him, Zimmerman's side of the story is he did not confront Martin, and it seems that lethal force was a near last resort.

everyone wants to know what martin was doing. Well what was zimmerman doing? Was he patroling the neighborhood keeping in touch with police to make it feel like he is somehow solving crime? There is enough evidence to support that as he made it very clear that the recent amount of break ins in his neighborhood upset him Convinient that he had his gun on him no? What does he just carry it at all times? Sounds to me like he went out seeking people he thought might be robbing other peoples homes and alerted the authorities the second he saw anything that looked anything like it.
Im willing to bet anything he doesn't drive around talking to the police confronting people acting like a cop if he doesn't have a gun. Thats just how I see it. Maybe it would have happened similarly if he didn't have a gun.. But Im sure situations not exactly like this, happen ALL the time. people putting themselves in dumb scenarios and get in way over their head because its so easy to get a gun and they can go around with that power in their pocket.
Zimmerman stated that he was on his way to Target when he originally saw Martin walking between the buildings and looking in windows. With the number of burglaries, which you acknowledge to have happened, someone looking in windows is suspicious and would warrant stopping and calling the cops, which is exactly what he did. There was even one point that Martin started to approach Zimmerman's vehicle and just stared at him.
Now, after Trayvon ran, and it was testified that he lost Zimmerman, he had the ability to go into where he was visiting, yet didn't. That does not mean that Zimmerman followed him with the intent of killing Martin. If it was, he could have shot him when he approached the vehicle and stared at Zimmerman, yet he wasn't. There is no evidence that this "cop wannabe" had his weapon drawn like a cop could when unsure of where a suspect is that may be dangerous as no testimony from the last person to talk to Trayvon that Zimmerman had his pistol out.Â
