If you answer yes, you're just jealous because either you can't afford it. Or because you're one of those metalheads that doesn't change their shirt for like a week.

-FlyLo-
Um... no, if you can't afford American Eagle or Ambercrombie you are most likely dirt cheap, or dirt poor. And I doubt a Dirt poor person would have regulat access to the net. And if you have to ask me why I hate it. It's basically because everyone wears it, the colors are almost always bright and that doesn't fit my personality since I'm not that guy who likes to act as if I'm hyped on Prozac all the time, with a huge smile or a complacent look on my face. Also, the clothes are ugly and every thing is the same just in different colors, with some number or the name of the brand everywhere. I get my clothes fro Hot-Topic, old navy, or off the net. And no I'm not a metal head. I'm a punk/hip-hopping/Alternative guy.

And also, those band tees aren't cheap, they cost just about as much as an Abercrombie shirt.

This doesn't make any sense since I know as many people who don't wear the clothes form the stores mentioned who are as stuck-up or even more so. Clothes do not make a person stuck-up. Using the logic of the TC I should be able to come to the conclusion that people who wear Marc Ecko, FuBu, and other urban hiphop-centric clothes are all gangbangers or drug-dealers.

Wearing Abercrombie, Aero, or AE will get you laughed at these days. Not because you seem "stuck up", just that it's completely out of style now. The whole popped coller look is as stale as the fanny pack these days.

Possibly, but I'll never tell  But seriously, if you think someones stuck up by the way they dress. Then you're the one with issues, not them.

I can't stand stuck up people, but I do wear a lot of American Eagle clothing. It has no originality, but it floats my boat and keeps me warm :P. Im not one of those people who lets clothing go to their heads.

I don't care about what clothes a person wears unless they have a popped collar. I wear brand name clothes, like Hurley and Billabong. I'd probably have a couple Abercrombie shirts or something if there was one close to me, but I'm not going to drive 45 minutes to get clothing.

[QUOTE="authorityissues"]So, do you dislike people that wear prep brand name clothes like A & F and Aero and American Eagle, and Hollister, etc.? Do you hate them because they wear those clothes? Are the people who wear those clothes 'stuck-up?' Snooty? Jerks? Because if you dislike people who wear that type of clothing, I guess that makes you stuck-up too, in your own way. I happen to know tons of people who wear clothes like that and many of them are very nice. They aren't 'stuck-up' like the myths would have you believe. So I guess being "Anti-" is just as stuck-up as wearing the clothes makes you.

why the heck would you hate someone by the way they dress?thats just sad imo, dont take it personally

I judge people as much by their clothing as i do by the color of their skin...so that means neither is important to me hahaha...i just dislike someone if they are jerks regardless of what they wear.

I don't "hate them" but I do hate how in my area they think if they have a couple of AE or Polo shirts/polos they think ther'ye rich and they talk down on people that don't have those brands, but all it really is, is a tread or fad....everyone looks the same at my school now lol but I'm cool with them as long as they don't start that crap with me.....

I don't know if people who wear these brands are stuck up but I always notice when someone wears that general style. It's not my taste but if I happened to find an article of clothing at any of those stores that I generally really liked, I'd be okay to wear it. Of course I'd have to actually go in those stores first. I'll wh*re myself for a few 'brands' or whatnot, but those aren't any of them. I don't want to pay to be a walking billboard for anything I don't totally love. And I don't care how many people think it's hot, I really don't like seeing people in overpriced jeans ripped to shreds, with flipflops, in November. And said jeans are usually purchased at Abercrombie.

I never liked A&F. I'm more of an AE guy. It's not overpriced, and the clothes are comfortable. I'd rather wear that than some band t-shirt. I guess I love being a walking billboard.

To all of the people saying it's overpriced crap and isn't original:

Have any of you ever been inside a higher end clothing store, ever? I mean seriously? If you think A&F and HCO are expensive, how about going to an Express, Guess, Armani, D & G, Buckle, MetroPark or any of those places. Sorry to say, but just because a store costs more than Target doesn't mean it's overpriced; Abercrombie is mildly priced, and Hollister is even less expensive than that.

You can not like the clothes, but they aren't overpriced.

Can't say I really care either way. I mostly wear plain color t-shirts from walmart since I don't see the point in wasting lots of money on clothes but people are free to buy whatever clothes look good on them and make them happy. A lot of my friends back home wore A&E and Hollister clothes and they where great people. It just depends on what's the style where you live. In my part of Cali that kind of clothing is the norm.

Maybe not in your opinion. And you mentioned higher end clothing stores that many people don't shop in in the first place. And sometimes those who do shop there do so just for the name. To me those are a whole other story because they can be SO overpriced I'd never consider shopping there for that reason alone. I won't pay tons of money for something just for the name. And I consider $70 for a woman's tank top to be overpriced, so Abercrombie isn't a "mildly priced" store to me.

The only reason I would have anything against A&E or A&F is because they don't make clothing that fits the overweight! But seriously, not all people that wear them are stuck up. Not everyone that wears them, gets spray on tans and pops the collar. They wear them because they are clothes. I only buy the shirts, and those are for picture days

Well I wear Hollister and American Eagle, but A&F is too expensive for my taste. And I don't wear those clothes to "fit in" as some have said. Ishop at those storesbecause they actually have clothes that fit me. And if people want to judge me based solely on the clothes I wear, then they are the stuck up snobs, not me.

it's usually a sign they have some sense of fashion, unlike the people who hate them with a passion. And no, most of them aren't as stuck up as you think.mohfrontline
American Eagle/Abercrombie haven never been in "fashion" they recycle old fads, seriously are predistressed clothes still in style? Then why are they selling them? and I don't hate the people that wear them however I do get a little disappointed considering the fact that the clothes that come out of those stores are very cheaply made and have no originality, the cuts on all the men's clothes is also abysmal, t-shirts tent out on anybody who isn't a 250 pound fat ass linebacker, shorts are cut so wide that you are forced to sag in order to achieve proper length etc...

The only time I dislike it is when they imply that they are better or classier than someone else just because they have a logo across the front of their shirt. I don't have a problem with the brands themselves and have some clothing from them myself.

Totally agree with you, TC. It is infact stuck up to hate someone for wearing a particular style of clothing. I don't see why people would "pity" these "walking bilboards", how is it any different to any other clothing; such as band tshirts? I wear expensive clothing, and I'm not stuck up.

I wear AE, guess, french connection uk, A&F, etc, because they tend to make nicely priced (not too expensive) clothing that looks stylish and I like the look of, and I'm not the least bit stuck up. The amusing thing is, the only people who have given me crap for wearing what I personally like the look of, was a bleeding copy-pasta hot topic gawf (who lulzily enough told me to stop confirming ...the irony was lost on it), and a guy wearing an effen wolf t-shirt.

I tend to find the only people who hate people for wearing so called "preppie" brands, are hardcore conformists (like gawfs or scene kids), and really ought to look in a mirror to see which group truely dresses identically.

Do you need me to point out the irony of your last sentence, or can you figure it out for yourself?

HINT: It's likely best not to tell someone that they need to use proper words and grammar, whilst using deplorable grammar yourself.

Edit 2: This is bothering me, "gawfs" are not goths, the goths were an east german tribe who attempted to take over rome in the 3rd and 4th centurys, were a main subject (the Queen of the goths was heavily featured, as was the roman/goth war) in the incredible work of Shakespeare entitled "Titus", and later became Christians....

Gawfs are idiots who shop at hot topic, listen to marilyn manson whilst skipping over the much better bands (good EBM bands like project pitchfork for instance), and claiming to not conform...whilst heavily conforming.

Agreed. I usually wear baggy clothes, but today for the first time I shopped at Aéropostale. I have to admit most of these t-shirts were REALLY tight, but i found some decent XL shirts that fit me well.
