I think we just witnessed a new L33t word: "brah"...
Anyways, Science I believe is an ongoing research. While there are things and theories which we might not know and prove right now since our capabilities limit us. There might be a time when we can solve them.
Oh and "brah"...
[QUOTE="Teenaged"]Well it seems he left brah. I wonder why? Dunno Brah, guess they're just more receptive on the streets of Hawaii than in OT.Maybe brah couldnt take the pressure...[QUOTE="jimmyjammer69"] You're not closed minded, are you Brah?jimmyjammer69

True. To say "Because God can" is so much more exciting! Lmao jk :P
Science is interesting at least, though I prefer psychology and philosophy. Who needs science when you believe in an extreme form of metaphysical nihilism?

Actually, you are right. The excitement and romance always comes from trying to uncover it. And after finding the answer, it ends up usually as common knowledge (or a subject of debate).
Therefore... "boring".
But, at least it can be fact and true.
to believe in anything but science is just pure ignorance.kaangonultas
And that is why an open mind is really what people should have. But sadly, it would seem that only a few try to do so.
See this is interesting because the reason i made this is because i wa sconfused about how many people dont trust the scientist when it comes to globel warming. I know this isnt entially accurate but judgeing from this and the topic on if globel warming is man made or natural, most of you trust science but not when it comes to bigger issues such as Co2 imitions causing globel warming.

Wolls
Try watching Al Gore's documentary: "An Inconvinient Truth". It might help.
I think the problem is that there's no unified body of consent called Science. Putting your faith in the scientific method means more that you trust that way of reaching the truth, but not necessarily trusting all people claiming to be scientists. Every day we hear scientists on the radio and watch them on TV, and it's clear that wearing a white coat doesn't make you invulnerable to corruption or infallible. Globally, media are pretty selective about which side they represent more, and maybe some of us think that this is one issue that's unfairly represented.See this is interesting because the reason i made this is because i wa sconfused about how many people dont trust the scientist when it comes to globel warming. Spot on. Some try to manipulate information so it benefits them without realizing or even caring for the possible outcomes. (The documentary actually mentioned something like that if I remember correctly)
And thus, the confusion starts.
Yes, if it wasn't for Science I would more than likely be dead right now. That doesn't mean I'm not skeptical towards some science though.
I guess what I'm trying to say is although I will always question scientific stuff, but if my life was at stake I would gladly put in the hands of science.

Then where did nothing come from? I hate this point. People will easily believe that God came from nothing or has always existed, but they wont accept that for the universe. Perhaps the Universe has simply "always existed." Geeeeeeeeeeez :lol:Quantum Theory has absolutely nothing to do with what Newton proposed. Newton's proposal was for static large objects, their mass and how gravity affected them. Einsteins theory was concerning the mass of moving objects and how time was affected by gravity and that sort of thing. There was actually a few people, including Einstein, that had a hand in today's Quantum theory. Quantum Theory deals with forces and powers that occur at the atomic level. All the theories are still taught and have real world proofs and examples. Though Quantum theory isn't compatible with General Realtivity which is why the entire physics world is currently interested in a TOE or Theory of Everything. No, i don't completely trust science because it is filled with half-truths. Scientific theories are reinterpreted all the time, each time they discover something old theories are replaced with new ones, take quantum theory for example, it's a new version of the same thing what Newton proposed......but is it the whole truth? Nope- because a few years from now more new stuff will be added to it. Still, good to know humans are progressing in terms of gaining knowledge.

lol wut? Yes they can.. If you did a little reading, you'd realize how much scientists know about the creation of this solar system and its Earth. In fact, there are books that literally flesh out thousands of details about it's creation. I'm serious, try the library.
No they don't trust me. Astronomers have no idea how the planets came into being. Personally I don't think you should trust anything until you validate it yourself. I mean if you just take the word of a scientist it's not that different from trusting scripture right? No they don't trust me. Astronomers have no idea how the planets came into being. I don't have to directly validate every scientific theory myself because it's not just some guy saying stuff that sounds vaguely logical and 'sciency' aka pseudoscience. True science uses the scientific method, and its observations and theories are tested so thoroughly that bad ones are almost certainly weeded out. Where a religious practitioner would never try to seek out falacy in their teachings, scientists try to weed out the faults in current scientific knowledge. Sometimes current explainations can't completely account for our observations ex. particle and wave models of light before the particle-wave model was formed. And science sometimes leads to incorrect conclusion, however due to its high accuracy I can have believe that it is usually right, while accepting that in certain areas (some physics) we just have a few partial theories, and don't yet have and perhaps never will have, a perfect one. When I say science I mean pure sciences, by the way; not social sciences which require a higher level of skepticism.
I can't see gravity, so how do I know it really exists? I don't trust science at all.
DigitalExile
Mmmppppptthhhh.... *bursts into helpless laughter* I'm noot even going to comment on this thread. Science can be trusted, and don't give me that "If it's real how come it keeps being wrong" crap. The mechanisms of the universe themselves are perfect; it's just human thinking that's flawed, which is why we still have a couple holes in all our theories.
