The Bible says "Excepts a man be born again, he shall not see the Kingdom of God". How is one born again? By accepting Jesus Christ into their heart and repenting of their sins.
(Romans 10:8-10) - "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; {9} That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. {10} For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."Crushmaster

for us being born again means going to that confirmation thingy (no idea how you call it or if you even got it) at the age of 14 I think, basicly a kind of second babtism, which I attended btw, sins are forgiven on a basis of the preacher where he/she says at the end of the preaching at sunday that all your sins are forgiven

you can't really prove your version of protestatism is better then mine can you?

also there can be quite some difrences in the translations of your bible and the one we here use..

Jiggles, do you consider yourself to be a good person?

Kind of an awkward question, but I'll go along with it.

Going by my own definition of what a good person is, yes, I feel that I'm a good person. I am very helpful to people in need, I give realistic and positive advice to those requiring it, I do a lot of community service, and I wish for all of humanity to benefit from the actions that I myself do.

Am I perfect, though? Absolutely not. I have a problem when it comes to accepting fundamentalism and I tend to procrastinate from time to time, but at least I admit my own problems and try to correct them.

OK, now, next question - have you ever told a lie?

Yes I have.

So what does that make you?

A normal person, but reading the response you gave to the other post and to save time, I'd be a liar.

Correct. Now, next question - have you ever stolen anything?

Besides my girlfriend's heart, I haven't stolen any form of physical matter (a candy bar, etc).

A preacher cannot forgive sins - only God can. Look:
(Psalms 51:2-4) - "Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. {3} For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. {4} Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest."
A person who you haven't sinned against cannot forgive you for something else you've done. Even if you believed a preacher could literally "forgive sins", they would only be able to forgive sins you'd committed against them.
But these verses make it clear that, when you sin against someone, you are also sinning against God.

Well then, according to God's standard, the Ten Commandments, you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous adulterer at heart.
Based on these answers, what do you think your eternal destiny is going to be? Heaven or hell?

But this is assuming that what you believe is correct.

God is a forgiving God - that is why He provided a way for us to be saved. If we accept Jesus Christ into our heart and repented of our sins, we will be saved from eternal damnation.

I doubt God would judge me purely on the fact that I lied, acted male a few times and swore out loud. It would be quite arrogant of him to simply ignore everything else I did in my life that was good.

"Well, he adopted an orphan, gave away $50,000 to charity every year and saved a young girl's life who nearly drowned in a lake... but there was also that time he got a stiff one when a supermodel walked by. CONDEMN HIS SOUL TO HELL!"

the preacher doesn't forgive you the sins, I might worded myself quite bad sorry for the misunderstanding, but he ask God to forgive the sins of those present in the church when he grants absolution (so it's called I think) the whole thing is based on John 20: 20-24

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

(Jesus) said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you."

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit

Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.

Yes, God is all-forgiving. When we are saved, all our sins are washed away.
In terms of hell, it is exactly what the Bible says it to be - a lake of fire; a place of eternal torment.

Crushmaster , I got to go now. So here is the last thing I am going to say,

If I assume that you have the correct belief in God , then I will go to hell. There is no way around that.

But the thread is not asking us that. It is asking for our own personal opinion on the matter.

Now I do not believe in hell or God , so the question is not really all that important to me. But if there was a God , I would like to think that he is more understanding then what you believe.

God cannot let sin into His presence. That is why He provided a way for our sins to cleansed - through His son, Jesus Christ.
If we accept Jesus Christ into our heart and repent of our sins, are sins are covered and we are saved from hell.
God then owns us; we are His, and forever His.:)

i dont think atheist is the right word here though, based on your description, its more like just a person that doesnt believe in anything,

you arent talking about someone who is completely pushing away god, still, its hard to get out of heaven
