Good lord no, ask the people who went to the hills and had their last rites read to them in the year 1000 how that went.btaylor2404I would but everyone who did that in the year 1000 is DEAD, thus proving how apocalyptic it was!

There's more to it than that... The Mayans made a doomsday prophecy. The reason there's a stir about 2012 is because the Mayans have predicted other events in the past that have actually been quite accurate. It's not because the calandar ends...RotaryRX7
History Channel. :| Use Google...tons of false information out there.RotaryRX7

BY THE WAY. I like your user icon wiifan99.
I dont understand where people get the assumption that because the Mayan calender ends on that year, so does the world.

I agree: Perhaps it only ends on 2012, because they may have been attacked rather vicously, and the guys who were making the calander were killed.
Just because it ends on that year does not necissarily mean its the end. I don't know why people don't think of that.
i dont think so...i mean, eventually we'll probably just destroy ourselfs in a battle for power.
thats how i see the human race disappearing.

humans are a paranoid race.
[QUOTE="St_JimmyX"]Yeah, their records even indicate that the calender has repeated itself many times, and that we're just entering a new calender age...I dont understand where people get the assumption that because the Mayan calender ends on that year, so does the world.

tahts all it is. its a astromical cycle that is about to complete itself and start over. don't know what it called I can't remember. as for the doomsday thing , A guy( can't remember his name either) came to the conclusion that he calaender ending must meen that hte world is ending:roll:
The History/Discovery channel is banking on the world ending in 2012, and when it doesn't, they still made a killing in the ratings due to hype/sensationalism, so it's a win-win situation for them either way (Capitalist pricks). It's like milking bogus Y2K fear for maximum profit all over again.
