saw someone post this on facebook

a

what do you think about it?

i think it's a stupid idea. wasn't it already decided that not buying gas on a certain day doesn't cause them to lose money because you will still have to buy gas the next day?

Yea that's pretty stupid. "don't buy it 'this' day, but it 'this' day instead"... You bought the gas, the day doesn't matter all that much. And ^ you'll, at most, hurt the gas stations income, not the oil company's.

This is so pointless. You're still buying gas the day before or after so sales would be higher than normal. It will have no impact what so ever.

How is it going to take over $3 billion away if driving habits don't change? Shifting the day you go the gas station will just make it more difficult for people to pump their gas.

Kind of pointless. If someone really wanted to prove a point they'd buy an electric car or take the bus or ride a bike.

The only way to put a dent in the oil industry is by having cars that didn't run on f***ing gas, and I'm wondering right now why the hell I even bothered typing the obvious.

Even if this made sense under the law of supply and demand gasoline prices haven't been reflecting supply and demand for years now.

If anyone believes this will work, they are ignorant to how gas prices are set.

The US is already using like 10% less gas i think than about 10 years ago thanks to high prices and more fuel efficient cars. So the oil companies easily fix that by jacking up prices. Any time anyone in the middle east even sneezes the oil and gas industry has to raise prices like a rocket and then drop like a feather after maybe a few weeks.

That's a stupid idea. That simply defers payment until a day or two later, thereby not removing any money from the oil companies. If you really want the idea to work, have a "Don't drive on X day". That reduces consumption, and consequently, profit.

I think it would be better to just not drive anywhere because if you still use gas you're just going to replenish it the next day or soon after anyways. You're just delaying when you give them your money.

The gas stations already purchase the gas. It would be hurting them more than the oil companies if I'm not mistaken. It would take more than a single day to persuade gas companies to drop their prices..

I'm not driving anyways. I've decided to ride a bike instead of giving my money to oil and gas companies that are gouging with their prices. I've been considering on buying an E-bike Conversion Kit to use if I want to cruise around. At a possible speed of 50 MPH, I'll be able to travel long distances in a short amount of time. Invest in a solar panel charger and I'll never need to worry about a dying battery on the trip home from where ever I'm at...

This Do you think there's pipelines running under every gas station to some "main pump"? Gas station buys gas, and just wont order gas for a day longer.

There will be no dent in the oil industry if everyone didnt fill up on April 15th. Loss revenue would be just made up in the few days prior and after.

almost as bad as TC's theory.. consumption or volume of sale does not have a direct causation to profit. unless you assume margins to be static where volume between cases is not .......

^^^ This. If we did a 3-5 day protest, I feel like there would be more of an impact because that puts schedules back a half of a week... but 24 hours is not much.

how about we protest the painful monetary policy? compared to other commodities oil is at an historic low, just maybe this is an inflation thing.... good thing for politicians energy and food are not counted in the core
