Why are people like "if this was happening to America, you would think differently." Maybe we won't start a god damned war in the first place, then arm our children with weapons in defense for it. You are comparing apples to oranges, your arguments don't make sense.

if you honestly think the hiroshima bomb was justifyable then all terrorist acts are justifiable... even 9/11. .RiseAgainst12
This is so far from true it hurts. Our attack was not a terrorist act, it was our way of ending the war without any more bloodshed. So basically what you just said is that the US performed a terrorist act by saving lives.

[QUOTE="tediously_brief"]I think i was justified. Nukes kill people just the same as conventional weapons kill people. Would it have been better if we fire bombed them? Toriko42
It would have been better if America went in like men and finished the fight properly. Germany was already screwed by Russia, all America did in Europe was give a nice distraction, they could have handled Japan with some help from the allies.

Time for you to brush up on some history. The Japanese were going to fight to the death, nothing would have stopped them. If we had "gone in like men," there would have been 10X as much bloodshed as dropping the bombs.

I dont know. Maybe one day The united states of america will get Nuked by terrorists somewhere in its territory or something, you never know, and not only hundreds of thousands but perhaps a few millions will die and others will agonize of cancer for months just to die afterwards as well. If it does eventually occur americans will comprehend the real meaning of a nuclear attack on civilians.

There are lots of countries with Nuclear Weapons Now, EVEN NORTH KOREA, so anything is possible.

Flawed analogy. Japan started the war with us. We didn't attack until attacked. The bombs ended the war with less casualties than continuing a land war would have done. Both cities were of military importan. It's not like we hit a beach resort.:|

I voted yes but not because it saved lives. That's BS. The real reason that I think we dropped the bomb on Hiroshima was to flex our muscles and show the world that we were the super power, and to not f around with us. -Sun_Tzu-

No, that's bs. All you showed the world was that war crimes are what ever western countries want them to be.

why do americans have this image that the japenese would fight to the death even in the face of defeat? not all japanese followed this fanatically way of thinking.. the russians were ready to go to war so really japan would have had no choice but surrender.. they weren't stupid. and you all should know there was a few japanese high ranking officers that surrendered to the americans to save there soldiers, but the americans had them executed under false claims of war crimes (yes some were guilty but not all). The real reason the bomb was dropped was so america could flex it's muscles and take top seat of power in the world through fear of using a nuke.

Think about this.

Why are we killing ourselves?

Not us Americans... Us as a human race.

Why is there so much hate and division in this world?

Why must we kill each-other?

Why war?

Why genocide?

Why killing at all?

Will we, the human race, ever get over this?

What is wrong with striving for world peace?

The same reason other animals fight with eachother. Fighting is all completely natural.

If the US invaded Japan instead of nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki,it would have resulted in MILLIONS more casualties than the bombings combined, wouldn't surprise me if the death toll surpassed that of the holocaust.
