Endgame by Megadeth. Seeing them and Slayer and Testament this year only solidified the fact.metallica_fan42
Did Megadeth outshow Metallica?
I don't know what people see in Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold and A Thousand Suns by Linkin Park. Two of the worst albums this year in my opinion. And although My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West was good, it's definitely not his best I think. And definitely not album of the year material, in my eyes at least.

Technically, only because when I saw Megadeth, they were doing a 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace, which is arguably one of the best thrash albums ever. Plus, Slayer was also doing a 20th anniversary of Reign in Blood, which ******* rocked. If Metallica did a show that showcased Master of Puppets or Ride The Lightning, then it would be a hard question to answer. It's between Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killyjoys, for me. raven_squadKanye's album was pretty good. I thought it was his best work since Late Registration.

As much as I love MCR, I wasn't that impressed with Danger Days.
It's not my favorite of theirs, but I like it a lot more then The Black Parade.[QUOTE="KH-mixerX"][QUOTE="raven_squad"]It's between Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killyjoys, for me. raven_squad

Danger Days seems like a more "poppy" album than the rest of their work. Plus most of the songs kind of bend together in my opinion. There are some gems though such as "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back." I love that song.

Graduation is better than both of them in my opinion.

Couldn't tell since i haven't heard any of those albums, however, this isn't about Album of the Year, is about what did you enjoy the most this year, doesn't matter if it is Lady Gaga or Ensiferum.
One of the best ever recorded. I'm in fact going through a major band obsession thanks to this album. It's Marrow of the Spirit by Agalloch by the way. Not that it matters though. Nobody's going to check it out
RobboElRobbo
I just heard Ghost of the Midwinter Fires, i liked it, good stuff, i'm going to check more of this.

At least thought is put into their music and they are talented...Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Cat Power wtf really?? If youre gonna diss someone elses taste in music, don't listen to s*** yourself.
pantyraid2113
if their singer still sounds like a 13 year old girl then how can you say they are good?
He doesn't sound like a 13 year old girl at all. Just because he sings in a higher pitch does not mean it makes him a bad singer, its unique. Would you say that Geddy Lee sounds like a girl too and that Rush sucks then? And how could "rappers" who talk about the same bull**** over and over again be good? i'm sorry, I like unique music that has meaning to it. I like bands that put out music because they like to, not to make a quick buck. But I understand that you are just immature and unoriginal, liking the same thing everyone else does.
Of course, I actually hate the artists I just named, the only reason I listen is because everyone else does how did you know?
Epic orchestra + choir music, can accompany and amp me up while I game. I highly recommend it for anyone who's into movie soundtracks or epic music from huge medieval battle and stuff like that.

:o Great stuff too.
It really surprised me. I hadn't heard much from Agalloch in the past and I didn't expect that out of them. I'm not sure it makes my top twenty, being heard just a week ago, and not having time to settle in, but...man, it's very very good.By FAR.

I love all of them apart from bulletproof heart and part of summertime. I really like planetary (Go!) and save yourself, ill hold them back. Na na na isnt my favourite but i never get bored of it. They said they didnt know if they could continue as a band, they never accepted the "emo" label, and they said they enjoyed making the music and stuff alot more. which is great.
No idea where they go from here though.
Slash, Coheed and Cambria Year of the Black Rainbow, Iron Maiden The Final Frontier
Hell I even liked Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys

As usual I didn't hear many albums this year, but this is a really great record:
White Magic by ceo (AKA Eric Berglund), his solo debut album.

*Pic of The Betrayed*
Definatly this for me :)
gashead101
They STILL haven't freaking released that album here in the States....
Anyways, I forgot an ablum when I posted earlier:
Mind-blowingly good debut album right here. This band is definitely one to watch out for. Best metal band to debut in quite some time IMO.
If you haven't checked it out yet, listen to this and this.
My favorite album this year was probably, "Beach House- Teen Dream"
Nothing better than space pop and space rock done right.
mexicangordo
This. To this day I still can't get over how so little can please me so very, very much.
Honorable mention goes to:
Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
Emeralds - Does It Look Like I'm Here?
Matthew Dear - Black City
How to Dress Well - Love Remains
Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt
Caribou - Swim

I discovered so many amazing albums this year. But my favorite is a 2003 album by Dream Theater called "Train of Thought". That album is an under appreciated MASTERPIECE!

Yep, so it's a personal choice, that's why i don't have any right to criticized the choice of other people by calling them bad albums, even if they were bad by my standards but it was good for them.
Sigh No More by Mumford and Sons
I actually got the 3 disc version with their live show and a documentary following the band. I just wish i hadn't just missed them playing live in October :(
Wolls
AMEN! Saw them last month in Philly at the Electric Factory. They are so freaking awesome!

"Marrow of the Spirit" by Agalloch
RobboElRobbo
YES
lol yeah that record is amazing, i still like the mantle better though.
Old albums I discovered:
Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
Calvin Harris - I Created Disco
Deltron - 3030
Kano - Home Sweet Home
Kid Cudi - both his old ones
Thrice - The Alchemy Index

New Albums:
Bonobo - Black Sands
Eminem - Recovery (sick of it now, but I liked it for quite a while)
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (disappointing, but still good)
Jack Johnson - To the Sea
Jimmy Eat World -Invented(their best album ever IMO)
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More
Noisia - Split the Atom
Shad - TSOL
