BBC reports

I graduated 1 and a half year ago and I have been since struggling to get a job, in vain.

A recent UN report stated that by 2020, the place will be utterly inhabitable. I tell you this, its pretty much inhabitable as it is now and looking how things are going in the region, the future is pretty grim.

Sucks that those terrorists who keep firing rockets into Israel have to ruin it for the rest of the innocent civilian population.

Situation won't improve until Hamas is removed from power. They will do anything to save face in front of Israel and to not appear weak while asking for help of any kind. Even if this is to Gazans' detriment.

maybe the ones throwing rocks at 10 ton unstoppable tanks aren't the terrorists.

tell me just how it is you belive the palestinians are to blame for having to LIVE IN A CAGE.

would you like it if RUSSIANS came and settled into your city and falsely claimed it was thiers for thousands of years and started terrorizing and murdering everyone and making them and you to live in cages that were once their peaceful homes?

how is that fair??

Don't fool yourself into thinking they just throw rocks. Rockets, even just recently, have been attempted and successfully fired on Israeli civilians.

The idiots ruin it for the innocent, unfortunately.

If that is his solution to problems then I'd say he's not very bright. And I'm not going to get all upset over his lack of intelligence.

Well it obviously wasnt a proper response, but LJS seems to think that the guy in this story lives in the West where he can simply get a degree and a job

This is sad news, however was suicide really nesseccary? He killed himself because he could not get a job? That does not make sense. But I feel bad for his family.

This does not change anything, Hamas and Hezbolla needs to stop killing civilians. This is why the wall was built, to stop rocket attacks on civilian areas.

I can bet you that if the Palestinians helped to stop Hamas and other terrorist groups, Israel would not be so strict on security and they would be closer to peace.

tbh , even in the west life is not easy for alot of people, its not Gaza , but I think youre aware that life can be tough. hell , this guy did the same thing and was much older (there are enough videos for you to understand whats going on more or less) www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-4255369,00.html like I said before, it seems like its becoming a more legitimate form of protest , including in richer countries.

The point was that a degree and a job are a hell of a lot easier to come by in a more developed country than one surrounded by conflict and poverty.

That's an illogical statement. Jobs still exist whether they require a degree or not. I'd imagine it's more depressing to spend all that money on a degree and end up at McDonald's. So I don't feel sympathy for someone that used such an extreme response to what may have been a temporary situation. Life sucks in some way for everyone....you make the best of it.....

It's not illogical, it's basic logic. In a place where employment is already extremely high and 80% of the population survives on food aid, I don't think it's fair to say that people are afforded the same opportunities compared to a much larger economy.

that depends on the country, Egypt for instance has free education , including university education. the main problem is there is not enough jobs and too many young people (essentially an opposite of the age problem in most of the west) only one example of course, but it shows its not a total black and white picture

A person out of work and struggling is just that....no matter what plot of land they are on. An American or Brit that has no job or a low paying job and can't properly provide for their family is not going to be comforted by..hey that dude in Gaza doesn't have a job. My problems are all gone now. And if you don't understand the personal part of the equation than of course you're going to think comparisons matter. But they don't. Now when it's your family in trouble. PERIOD.

This is the point I was getting at. Never said that poverty or suffering doesn't exist in more developed places, but that's really a small part of the situation if there's no infrastructure to help those living in poor conditions.

really kind of flabbergasted by some of the responses on here...

seriously you guys living in the West need to realize fast and understand that your 'poverty' line is at least two exponential points (or more) higher then most of the rest of the world. Apparently in Milwaukee being under the 'poverty' line is owning 2 cars, multiple TV's, computers and other electronics. poverty in most of the rest of the world means literally having to live in a shack with no hope of finding a job to support your family and possibly your children.

and no this is not a Darwin award, fvck you for thinking that. It's a cry of desperation, not stupidity. It is a desperate situation over there for many people. Many of them can't simply wait around for white man's burden to kick in or Hamas to roll over and die.

We always lament when people commit suicide. Think about it, situation is so bad that your willing to set yourself alight, to try to bring dire attention to a problem within the society. Without trying to directly physically harm anyone else.So rather then lament that someone put themselves through enormous pain and death to get a message across. what they'll get in response is laughs and darwin award jokes?

fvck you...

really kind of flabbergasted by some of the responses on here...

seriously you guys living in the West need to realize fast and understand that your 'poverty' line is at least two exponential points (or more) higher then most of the rest of the world.

Without trying to directly physically harm anyone else.So rather then lament that someone put themselves through enormous pain and death to get a message across. what they'll get in response is laughs and darwin award jokes?

fvck you...

The direction this topic took left me...with nothing to say. That is a good post.

I agree Saudi, some of the responses in this thread are appalling but there are people that struggle in The West as well. My country, Northern Ireland for example, went through a conflict and we're still recovering from it. Many people here are unemployed and don't have much either. This of course is accompanied with mental health problems, for which NI has the highest rate of mental health problems in the UK. So try not to separate struggles - we all struggle, just in different ways, nor fall into the trap thinking that The West is rich - that's very very misleading considering my own country is very much behind in the times in comparison with the rest of The West in regards to infrastructure, services, legislation, social attitudes etc.

[QUOTE="BossPerson"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"][QUOTE="Ravensmash"] It's not illogical, it's basic logic. In a place where employment is already extremely high and 80% of the population survives on food aid, I don't think it's fair to say that people are afforded the same opportunities compared to a much larger economy.

PERIOD.

So who has better life prospects, your average Gazan or your average Brit?

Are you under the assumption that every Brit has an easy life?
