I was unaware Nintendo manufactured any such periphreal as I have never seen that in stores or any gameshop. Looks third party to me. The only "gun" periphreal I know of made by nintendo is the zapper, which doesn't really look like a gun.

This is 100% the parents fault, 0% nintendos in my opinion.

The matter is an innocent 3-years old girl will never see the light again:(

Just because her stepfather was a psychopath and her mother was an utter idiot....oh god...what can I say?

So can any idiot can get their hands on a gun in America, do they not even have a small common sense test?

The parents should be charged with manslaughter for leaving a loaded handgun right under a 3 year olds nose, I realise they are most likely mortified but this is one of those rare cases where I can say they deserve to be.

I wonder if the manufacturers of the gun shell or Nintendo themselves with get any backlash? seems likely the press would harass them about it, they aren't usually gifted in the commonsense department either.

On the news this morning, they said that charges have yet to be filed. The wording in this particular article is just weird, so +1 to everyone who said that.

That is tragic . . . but you don't leave a loaded gun lying on a table in a house with a three year-old. Very sad, and very avoidable death. :(

When I first read the title I was thinking "How stupid can that girl be?" but I didn't realise how young she was. :[ That's horrible.

Well the parents have already suffered the worse kind of punishment, I don't think going to jail will help anyone.

While one can question the design on the Wii remote, the real fault is that they left a loaded firearm on the livingroom table, most likely with the safety off, where children can grab it as they can mistake it for a toy such as in this case.

What the hell was she playing? A three year old should not be playing shooting games, most of which are rated 12+. Also, couldn't the father just put the safety on? If not, couldn't he have slept with the gun on the nightstand? While the father is a complete moron he definitely shouldn't have bought the girl that game she was playing.

i thought all toy guns were required by law to have a orange or red tip on it? also, epic parental fail leaving a loaded handgun in reach of a 3 year old, thats just stupid and it probobly would have happened regardless of the wii.

That's ridiculous. Do you know how many perfectly responsible gun owners or collectors there are? Do you really think they're all going to give up their constitutional right to own a legally bought gun? Doubt it. Examples like this are the exception, not the rule. A lot of people are really stupid regarding guns but most are capable of owning them.

What a sad story :( That must be horrible, to lose a child like that. I can't believe the father would leave his gun on a table while they had a similar gaming gun replica. That's just idiotic. But as we all know, there will be a select group that will attack Nintendo :? *sigh*

Its not these people that givegunowners a bad name imo.. Irresponsibility is something that happens with every group out there.. Its the recent slew of morons who like to bring guns as a form of protext to elected offiical meetings.. And other such thing.. Things like gang members, and this do not represent the gun owners out there..

There was a prowler outside and he leaves the gun on a low table without the safety on.

Nice... He forgot to prep his handgrenade and RPG-7 launcher for that prowler.

Seriusly, then atleast put it in a drawer on safety next to where you are.

So people shouldn't be allowed to defend themselves? How does a 90 lb woman overpower a 250-300 lb man? How does said woman feel safe and secure in knowing that if she has a taser, he has to get within arms length in order for he to subdue him?

Guns were originally designed for that, but people don't buy weapons commercially to use them to kill people. They're easier to trace for example. Guns are also a fun hobby for lots of people. Why do you think clubs and shooting ranges exist? Although I sort of agree that guns don't really serve any practical purpose apart from defense, but then again a lot of things don't serve any purpose.
