The accents are awesome. The quality of the movies would be abysmal were it not for their accents.

Not like that, no. I'd be whiny at the appropriate times and I wouldn't be *****ing about the one guy that's constantly saved my ass (Dumbledore).
Yep. Read all of them. Including "Quidditch Through the Ages" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
As for all the angst, I kind of felt that Harry Potter is one of the few series where the angst is justified. I mean, by book five, the media is out to get him, people around him are dying, and he's still being kept in the dark. I'd certainly be cranky.

The fate of the world is on his shoulders, his mind is being torn inside out because the most evil sorcerer in the world has access to it, his friends and family are either dying or dead, and half the world hates him. I think it would be expected of a fully competent 40 year old to be ticked off, and we're talking about a teenager here! Thats what I like about Harry, he really is believeable in that sense, and in the end he does understand Dumbledore's wisdom, and how everything works out.[QUOTE="enterawesome"] Rowling's writing is flawless, in my opinion. WAY too much "ly" adverbs (he said critically). It's just very annoying after a while (he said irritatedly). They are very nice stories though, and I still like them (he said appreciatively).
Ach! I never would have noticed that until now, so now everytime I read them it will bother me! Thanks a lot! (he said angrily)i like...the accents, does that count?jrsygrl0601

I guess you guys would love my accent too, I'm English :shock:Nope, only english wizard accents.I cheated.... I listened to the 5th book on audio and read the last two. However I did recently started reading the series from the beginning.

(he said angrily) i have just realized this too. o well good thing im done reading the books.(runs away hastily)Yes I do. They are extremely fun books to read, and I often find myself just picking out a random HP book and flipping to a random chapter, and just reading for the fun of it. Rowling's writing is flawless, in my opinion. The movies are also very good, especially the new one.enterawesome
Errr, no, not really >_>
If you want near-flawless writing, read Hemingway. :)

yea. She uses "darkly" way too much. I just read the 6th Harry Potter again after I saw the movie and she uses the adverb darkly at least twice in every chapter[QUOTE="enterawesome"]Yes I do. lol if you want run on sentences read Hawthorne (The Scarlet Letter an' sich) he actually makes sentences so long he actually has to divide them into two paragraphs.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]

Which one is that? The reason I included "near" is because nobody is a "perfect" writer.

Excellent books, excellent movies. I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (not because of the movie-- this is my first time rereading through the series since I finished the final book-- I've been rereading through the series for a few months now).
the second time you read them in order it's soooo much better. and you can make all the connections between earlier and later books which are cool to findExcellent books, excellent movies. :O like what? i tried finding plot holes but i couldn't, there were some 'logical' mistakes which isn't that big of a deal.Recently finished the books....entertaining but she made some mistakes along the way.

Much of what bothered me I'd have to think about again and my brain is tired. But I do recall that one bothering me. Plus, in DH after he knew using Voldemort's name was a trace...he used it anyway to further the plot of course but that is lazy writing.Recently finished the books....entertaining but she made some mistakes along the way.

Okay I'm genuinely interested in your plot holes because I'm particular about things and like to know when things don't match up, but I just have to say that "Mad Dog" made me laugh! Too funny.

Me too! I'm guessing you've read Beedle the Bard as well. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, and happily at that. :)
Sadly, no. I should, though.[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"][QUOTE="hamstergeddon"] lol if you want run on sentences read Hawthorne (The Scarlet Letter an' sich) he actually makes sentences so long he actually has to divide them into two paragraphs. hamstergeddon

I know. That book made me die totally and completely on the inside. I'm actually reading it right now for my summer assignment. wtf is with the intro being like 50 pgs long. Also it is extremely boring. There are a handful of flaws. One time, I found that she misspelled "Weasley." Also, the series has several Deus Ex Machinas, Voldemort is a genre blind idiot, the other bad guy in book four constructed a needlessly complicated plan...
But really, I don't care. They're very entertaining, imaginative, and endearing.
The movies aren't so good, though. Half-Blood Prince is okay as a movie, but the others are kinda just... okay.
I think the biggest problem with the series is the fandom. Some awful works of fanfiction (the infamous "My Immortal"), and the insanity of the shippers... ohhh, the shippers...
I'm on book five right now.
