Coming from someone who has worked with Werner Herzog, that's quite an achievement.Christian Bale has gone on record for Batman Begins saying that it was by far the hardest project of his career.

i am shock to hear this ledger seems to been the best joker ever. i still have no idea hoe will this effect the movie. will they have to delay the movie or is it finish?TheShadowLord07
its finished....
but he wont go to the premiere!!!!
If it is a drug OD, it is hard to be sympathetic. I don't want to point any fingers, but this has me thinking...
Christian Bale has gone on record for Batman Begins saying that it was by far the hardest project of his career. He said that it was incredibly tough to work for Christopher Nolan and that he demands a ton. He also said that many days were 18 hour shoots. I'm wondering if Heath Ledger began taking drugs/pills/whatever because of the ridiculously grueling schedule that Christopher Nolan demanded. It is ultimately the responsibility of the individual for his drug use. Ledger is ultimately the one to blame, but if Nolan is as demanding as reported, I'm sure this didn't help at all. Not everyone can work well under tremendous amounts of stress. Notice how there was no mention of Ledger having a drug issue ever before the filming of The Dark Knight...

Good point!
For all those that hold no sympathy for him...most of those who get into drugs are in over their heads before they know it, and are then addicted.
He is responsible for initially taking drugs (if that is indeed the case), but should he ultimately have had to pay for it with his life? People make mistakes all the time. Addiction and abuse are not a matter of willpower, nor a weakness of character. There are many factors, including those we don't even know about Heath's personal life.
How can you all hold him in such judgement? The guy's dead, and it's sad and unfortunate any way you cut it.
Oh wow. That's pretty shocking if its true, he wasnt very old.
I dont mean to be rude or anything, but was The Dark Knight completed?
HillyBilly
lol that was the first thing that popped to my head
R.I.P, Mr. Ledger... see you in The Dark Knight.........
for those who already branded him a drug OD....please, show some respect. the investigation is still underway.....we don't need unconstructive crap like this. :?
Either these kids haven't experienced it in their lives, or are too young to understand. I remember when I was young and cocky....I would've been quick to blame him, too.For all those that hold no sympathy for him...most of those who get into drugs are in over their heads before they know it, and are then addicted.

Then I grew up and made mistakes, too.

Good point!
I was just watching CNN, they say he was working alot and was deprived of lots of sleep. He took sleeping pills to help him sleep every second he got, he tried to sleep...very scary, and sad.
just done a few quick searches there and its been confirmed,
i read into the gritty details and it saddens me, only 28 and committed suicide
just when i was starting to get into his work too, this sucks.....
maccer101
he didnt commit suicide, atleast not from the articles i read, it said he was having extreme insomnia and overdosed on sleep pills, on accident

oh sorry, i think i read it a bit too fast, i went back to it and it said "there was no obvious indication the Australian-born actor Ledger committed suicide NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said"
I've never been so shocked about a celebrity death since John Ritter.
What's pissing me off is that there are people already talking about recasting the Joker or worrying about TDK getting delayed. The movie's not getting delayed, it's not even coming out for another six months. The man just died and all these people can think about is a movie getting delayed? KCJ5061
Especially since it'd only be for sentimental reasons. The movie's done.

Ahh you forget post production my friend. There is a good chance they are still making edits to the film.

Sad enough, my step dad worked in Hollywood and I forgot about that. :(
Well, I meant that the basic filming part was done.
