They're honest. Most people have some form of bias whether it is obvert or subconcious. There are very few people that are truly objective. Most people don't tolerate overt racism, but hidden forms of bias exist everywhere. I feel safer knowing that people at least acknowlege that as opposed to stick their heads in the sand and tell everyone how open minded they are.
Well....some people are that open minded.;)
It's possible, but unlikely. I think humans tend to lean toward familiarity and shared values. We are dividers by nature - it's how we organize thing. We perceive differences. Now certainly there is a difference between being racist and being biased. I think most people aren't racist - in the sense that they aren't members of the KKK or view other groups as being less than human. But I think people do have some subtle or subconscious biases about different groups. It may be as simple as being uncomfortable around a group of youths of a different race to disliking certain forms of culture that seem different to you.
