I don't know how he did it, but Obama manage to get healthcare pushed through the house. Senate will probably pass it too. There was a time I was worried about the future of healthcare reform, I thought it would fail again.

The Supreme Court can't call something unconstitiutional unless it is a law. If you want to challenge the constituionality of the bill, wait for it to pass and then challenge itat a district court.

There's also nothing in the constiution that says they can run a post office service or a public school system, The constitution was meant to establish a basic framework for government and protect certain rights, not to ban the implementation of anything not directly created in it.

Moderate Republicans, a.k.a. soon-to-be-Blue Dogs. One Republican voted against party lines in the House, possibly one more will in the Senate. I don't know about the House Guy, but Olympia Snow is way closer to a Blue Dog than a Democrat, and the Republican Party has made it clear that dissenters are not very welcome. I don't know that they'd out Snow because doing so would probably cede the state to a Blue Dog, but just about every other moderate is getting pushed out of the Republican Party systematically.

The only part I'm oppossed to is the part that apparently says you must go get healthcare or you will be fined. But hey....Healthcare! I haven't been to the doctors in half a decade due to not being able to afford it.

They also passed universal minimum coverage so everyone can at least see a doctor occasionally and not just go to the emergency room when something goes horribly wrong, and there's a public option in the House plan so that works out well. There's also some exception to the mandate if you're making a miniscule income.

It looks like the fine is an additional income tax and if you fall within a certain category you can apply for a hardship waiver.

Though of course many won't fall in that certain category and yet still won't be able to afford the payment or fine. I have to worry about those who will be utterly screwed or ruined because they can barely pay the bills and one more bill will ruin them.
