They don't hate America itself, or most of its people. Its just that being the world's most powerful military power is not a popular job, and it guaranteed to bring criticism of almost every aspect of the US government.

It's irrational, but people generally just don't like authority and to see power in others.

The USA being the most powerful and influential country in the world over recent years (even in stuff like The Olympics), has meant that a lot of contempt has being heading their way.

That coupled with bandwagon behaviour probably explains why the USA is so disliked.

no, its rational, if you can't see the crimes the US goverment has commited then you are blind. there is a reason, and its not because of the "hur hur usa usa usa we the best" attitude that most Americans seem to have.

Outside the US, a lot of people have the idea that US citizens are arrogant and think they own the whole world.

Maybe US people should start by calling themselves US citizens instead of "Americans" as if just the US are America. America is a continent, where the US is located, but a lot more countries are also "America".

2. Yes we do. We don't have the same culture as other countries.

Duuuude, I know :), but why are US people the ones that call themselves by their continent rather than by their country?

Canadians are also Americans, Mexicans are also Americans, Peruvian are also Americans, and sooooo on.

Do you imagine all American (from America, not from US  ) calling themselves Americans? It would be a mess.

I haven't heard French people calling themselves just European, either, nor Japanese calling themselves just Asian.

People can hate the USA if they want; this can be based on their own moral/political opinions.

I just believe the reasons that I stated to be the main reason why the USA is so widely disliked.

I'll also make an opinion

1. Many of todays technology has been made by the American hands

2. Um go take US history...or retake it.

3. At times, we make mistakes to choose a leader without knowing the outcome. During our reign, We've had many great leaders that are remembered today.

4. WE Don't care.

It's not neccessarily YOU, it's your government that does its best to poke its fat nose in areas it doesn't belong and inevitably there's conflict and dislike that starts to exist.

1. Even though we've been a leader in technology. The very Video Games you play are an American invention. Our school system sucks though, thats a valid complaint, though there are alternatives if you wish to take advantage and can afford them.

2. How is it stolen from other countries. My family is Irish, they brought over their culture from Ireland, same with my Italian side. Thats a ridiculous argument considering we've been a country for less than 250 years, and mass immigration didn't start till the mid 1850's. On top of the fact that American is a nationality, not an ethnicity.

3. The Government has its flaws, but to say its the worst ever? Have you ever heard of a dictatorship?.

4. Move. I used to think like you (oddly enough, wanted to move to Canada also) and then started realizing I love where I live.

Thats a ridiculous reason to hate a country, especially when America is well, The United States of America. What do we call ourselves?

Its also ridiculous to criticize an entire group of people based on the actions of a government, especially when most of the people disapprove on almost EVERY level.

About the EU, no European use that name, since nationalities are too strong and different. You must also have in mind that all European countries have thousand-year-old individual history. The US are a different thing.

It could be ridiculous but people actually has the idea that US citizens are way too much arrogant. Why? We can discuss that.

However, I don't think there could be reasons for hating an entire country, I'm just telling what I see.

......you want to move to canada? ok..i have family in Canada ( Toronto ) ...and i visit them at least every 6 to 7 months.....Canada is ABSOLUTELY no different then america. Sure some rules are switched around like pedestrians have to yield to cars, public restrooms dont supply efficient toliet paper, etc.....But let me tell you something. EVERYTHING else is exactally the same....especially toronto....I can assure you.

Oh and about the having no culture? ok so what about canada? Same thing as in the united states. United states and Canada both are filled with diversity. Different cultures from different parts of the world.

Yes, it could be like that in a lot of time away from now. At the moment, the difference is that no European says to another European "I'm European", and that's not the case of US citizens, since they say "I'm American" even to a Canadian.

I guess it's cool to bad mouth the U.S. It's human nature to blindly criticize and talk **** They want attention. Why pay attention? They are all talking out of their asses anyway. It's a domino effect, one jerk talks **** then the **** is passed around from one ignorant as well as arrogant jerk to another.

Liberal Democracy died in the Middle East when the US and Britain assassinated Mossadeq, all because he wanted to nationalise Iranian oil. And yes he was a genuinely democratically elected of Iran. They then installed the puppet, brutal regime of the Iranian Shah... that didn't go quite to plan.... in fact hardly ever does it go to plan.

As much as I love my country, the USA, there is much to be critizise, and much to be the reason why others hate us.

Does anyone remember 9-11? (Do not DARE call it a conspiracy). Did you know that much of the world felt sorry for us when that plane destroyed the empire state building, including the arabs and the poorest of people. What happened? Bush did what any puppet of war does, go atttack a country that has no reason to be attacked and buy off the oil from Saudi arabia, who's kingdom is swimming in money.

One answer should sum this all up, the rich, as they keep themselves rich and let the rest starve, those are the biggest monsters to live on this very planet.

We don't hate you. Every country has (insert I-word for fear of moderation), although many Americans don't do their country any favours on XBL for example. I can't open my mouth on there without a comment about my accent (I'm Northern Irish) and then being told how much the UK sucks, followed by the usual pot of gold get me a leprechaun response if they actually realise I'm not English.
In fairness though I'm sure you hear as much from the rest of the British population on there, I'm just somewhat of an isolated case as I've got abuse from both :?

Interesting choice of words. Heard that on GB once from someone. Hmmm

Though I hope he's not implying 911 was a conspiracy by the US. Besides the fact that he has the wrong building.

Because your government has made some seriously arrogant and self-centered choices that have had equally serious negative impacts on the rest of the world. Thats why.

You are right, we invaded Iraq because a terrorist bad mouthed Bush's mother, not an attempt to halt terrorism. How self centered.

Edit : I remember you from another thread, you are just an ignorant American hater, you don't even deserve a quote from me.

Hah, nice one smart guy, I wasn't talking about Iraq, althought that is in my opinion, another bad choice.

Ignorant America hater? You know nothing about me, I have plenty of family living in America and I do care for them and theirs... Why am I ignorant? Because i disagree with your point of view?

Sorry budy, but I guess American history books at school don't really tell you much about the other not-so-smart diplomatic maneuvers that your government has made in the past 50 years. Incidents like Irangate and incidents of funding genocide in central America kiiiind of just soured the milk.

Ps: Don't even deserve a quote from you? Hahahahahhahah... nice one internet tough guy.

Jealousy of what exactly?

Shhh! Don't let them break their illusion... all us non Americans live in caves, whilst eating mud and fling faeces at each other on the weekend as entertainment.
