I think we are hated so much becuase we provide weapons to countries that other nations consider hostile.

Example:

South Korea - North Korea hates us.

Israel - Most of the middle east hates us.

And we get involved in other nations affairs to much. Such as the Russian-Georgian war. Personally I dont care if Russia steamrolls over Tblisi nor do I care if Georgia steamrolls over South Ossetia. There problems are their own. Let them sort it out.

Also the typical ignorance (just listen to Xbox Live)

I'm not from USA, and i don't hate USA.

I like USA because they stand for freedom and i consider them a ally to my country.

But i dislike some of the people who lives in USA, and the reason why I don't like them is that they tend to think a little to good about them-self and their country.

For example I've been hanging around this forum for about a month or two and i have already seen several threads that consists of US citizens expressing their love for their country, and i don't mind that but it is the way they are doing it (its one thread about this on the first page when I'm writing this), one guy wrote in his thread that USA was the greatest nation in the world because of that USA invented democracy and that USA has the best political system in the world, and for me that sounds like real bull sh*t because i know that both those statements are false.

But since this is just a small % of USAs population I don't hate the US (but they tend to make allot of noise so it can seem like all USA citizens are like that and that may be a reason that people hate them, and allso the political leaders of USA tend to use the saying "god bless America the greatest nation in the whole world" or something like that that may be their opinion but for me that seems to be like taunting other nations).

Sorry for bad grammar and stuff but English is not my native language and I'm not that old.

IMO, the U.S. chooses their foreign conflicts poorly. Not by level of need, but by how much they will profit from heling out in other countries.

Why aren't there U.S. soldiers in Africa???

Arrogant nation with quite a few idiots and a horrible government. I don't mind most of the people there, but I would NEVER move from Canada to America, ever. There are quite a few people there that seem to have the idea that they're the center of the world and that all other countries mean nothing to them. I could go on and on, but you get my point for the most part.

Hating United States of America is no misunderstanding. U.S. has done many stupid things to make themselves hated. They involve themselves in other countries businesses and they think they can keep peace all around the world and please it. No, they can't. For instance, U.S. threatened Russia to back off of Georgia or there will be war..but I didn't see Russia telling America to back off of Iraq..DID YOU? No, you didn't. U.S. goes into neutral and foreign countries thinking they can do what they want, using their oil, docks, bases and resources. Starting wars to keep peace? This is plain dumb, they need to keep their hands to themselves and their allies.

Of course, but they could be a little more diplomatic. However I'm not going to blame them for the Muslim countries' anti-semitism, but you have to be a little empathetic and think "How would I feel if a completely different culture was encroaching on my part of the world?". I really don't care if Israel is "the promised land", that has no bearing for me.

Ja, Hitler did extremely stupid things and made some bad mistakes. But what he led and invented became pretty powerful, and that my friend it still exist. Good doesn't always triump over evil, especially if it is mixed (good but also evil). Someday, it will triumph, and there will be a better government.

I've never really disliked American's until i started talking on internet forums a lot (most of which have a majority of americans) and seeing all the hate towards Canadian's everytime a thread about Canada came up, hell I bet there's people in here who have bad mouthed Canadian's before for no reason but they'll sit here and argue about anyone else bad mouthing USA. I know it's probably just a vocal minority, but when you see it so much from so many different people it just gets hard to ignore. The sad part is most of the people i know up here in Canada never talk bad about the USA because we're so alike, maybe it's just because I live right on the border of Canada/USA but when i go over to America the people i meet would of never even guessed i was from Canada.. like we watch pretty much all the same TV as you guys do, eat the same food, listen to the same music, etc...

Anyways, this is really only how I feel and might not be why "people hate the U.S." but it gives you an idea of how someone from another country feels about a portion of american citizens, im not so much mad at you for what you do, but for how ignorant some of you are about the rest of the world.

This excellent article written by Harry Browne perfectly sums up why the people around the world harbors such animosity toward the U.S.

Why Do They Hate Us So Much?

by Harry Browne

May 30, 2005

American Presidents since William McKinley have played fast and loose with the lives of people living in foreign countries.

Hitting just the highlights:

McKinley betrayed the people of the Philippines, who fought alongside American troops against Spain in 1898 — only to have the Americans turn against them and occupy the Philippines for 47 years.

Woodrow Wilson helped Britain and France redraw the European boundary lines in a way that guaranteed a century of wars and resentments — and that continued to trigger conflict in places like Bosnia and Kosovo as recently as the 1990s. And Wilson cooperated when the British reneged on their pledge of freedom and independence to the Arabs in exchange for their support of the Allies in World War I.

It Goes on . . .

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s American Presidents practiced gunboat diplomacy with the nations of Latin America — invading countries like Nicaragua and Honduras — as well as sending troops to China and Turkey.

Franklin Roosevelt — with the same "vision" as Woodrow Wilson, and with no more knowledge of history or foreign affairs than Wilson had — sacrificed the freedoms and independence of people in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Albania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and China — to satisfy his own ambition to be the world leader who would guarantee peace.

Harry Truman supported dictators in Asia and Africa, and by calling that policy the Truman Doctrine people around the world knew it was the United States that was supporting some of the worst elements of the world — and Truman sent American troops to die defending the autocratic Syngman Rhee regime in Korea.

. . . and on . . .

Dwight Eisenhower approved the CIA coup that overthrew the democratic government in Iran, replacing it with the dreadful Shah of Iran, and Eisenhower continued the Truman Doctrine — standing by dictators in Latin America and Asia, stationing American troops in dozens of foreign countries, and reminding people everywhere that America had become an imperial power.

John F. Kennedy invaded Cuba, sent troops to aid in the suppression of a pro-freedom rebellion in the Congo, supported a brutal dictator in South Vietnam before assassinating him, aided oppression in Laos and Cambodia, and extended American military bases to more and more foreign countries.

Lyndon Johnson played games with the truth in order to draw America into a terrible war in Vietnam — one that caused the deaths of millions of Vietnamese but still left Vietnam in the hands of the Communists.

Richard Nixon secretly bombed Cambodia, only to have his secrets revealed to the world — and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger became known worldwide for practicing "realpolitik," a policy of using human beings around the world as bargaining chips in his tête-à-têtes with dictators.

. . . and on . . .

Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter didn't (to the best of my knowledge) instigate any major new intrusions on the rest of the world, but they enthusiastically continued to shovel American taxpayer money to foreign dictators and continued to station American troops in what had come to be more than a hundred foreign countries.

Ronald Reagan sent Marines to Lebanon to butt into a civil war there, invaded Grenada, bombed Libya, meddled in Central America, planted American missiles in Europe (putting European civilians in danger), and stood by brutal dictators in El Salvador, Guatemala, and other Latin America countries.

George H. W. Bush invaded Panama and Iraq — and put in place the sanctions and air raids that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women, and children.

. . . and on

Bill Clinton maintained the Iraqi sanctions and air raids, sent American troops to intervene in civil wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, used American force to install a dictator in Haiti — all the while continuing the support of foreign dictators with the money of American taxpayers, and continuing to station American troops around the world as though they were the legions of the Roman Empire.

George W. Bush has invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, killing tens of thousands of civilians; threatened Iran and Syria; overthrew the government of Haiti and installed a brutal dictatorship; praised and supported dictators in Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and many other countries; and demanded that everyone in the world support America or risk being bombed and invaded — all the while proclaiming that he wants to bring freedom and democracy (American way) to everyone in the world.

Now We Know

So why do billions of people around the world hate America so much?

Obviously, it's because of our freedom, our prosperity, and our democracy.

How do I know? Because George Bush told me so.

What other reason could foreigners have for resenting America?

These are in my opinion and my opinion only.

1: We are stupid.

2: We don't have our own culture, it's all stolen from other countries.

3: Worst government evar.

4: I just don't like it here.

*wants to move to Canada*

ReaperV7

......you want to move to canada? ok..i have family in Canada ( Toronto ) ...and i visit them at least every 6 to 7 months.....Canada is ABSOLUTELY no different then america. Sure some rules are switched around like pedestrians have to yield to cars, public restrooms dont supply efficient toliet paper, etc.....But let me tell you something. EVERYTHING else is exactally the same....especially toronto....I can assure you.

Oh and about the having no culture? ok so what about canada? Same thing as in the united states. United states and Canada both are filled with diversity. Different cultures from different parts of the world.

dude I didn't think i would ever have to point this out but Toronto is not the best example for an american-canadian comparison, its like trying to compare france to boston, aint in anyway shape or form going to work. go to montreal or quebec and you will see something you will like as it is finally getting back on its feet

Nothing is ever good enough for a crybaby. With them it's either spoilage or envy. They don't appreciate anything. They see what they want to see and they believe what they want to believe. Namely the fantasies that they have created.

You mean Tony Blair, the ex-PM of the UK? Wasnt he replaced by Brown last year?
How is Brown going anyway, I havent heard any news on him since he was elected..

As for your second point, people really need to watch this video by CNNNN:

Probably worth skipping 1:30-3:30, the rest I find entertaining though

[QUOTE="Burnsmiesta"]We don't hate you. Every country has (insert I-word for fear of moderation), although many Americans don't do their country any favours on XBL for example. I can't open my mouth on there without a comment about my accent (I'm Northern Irish) and then being told how much the UK sucks, followed by the usual pot of gold get me a leprechaun response if they actually realise I'm not english.
In fairness though I'm sure you hear as much from the British on there, I'm just somewhat of an isolated case as I've got abuse from both :?
dday2121

Honestly, don't listen to anyone if they trash your accent. Most of them are kids who run around making fun of people that are different than them. On the other hand, a couple weeks ago, people from Ireland were badmouthing me to the max, calling me poor because I lived in America. How does he know how much I make? He was apparantly a drug dealer who made millions of dollars a month from it. After talking to that guy, I never let anything over the internet get to me ever again haha.

LMAO, exactly, just the usual "I'm on XBL, you don't know who I am" hard man. If hes a drug dealer I highly doubt he'd be playing his Xbox all day

im Irish and i love Americans and think their confidence is hilarious. you will have some annoying ones like any country. they all have confidence in everything they do and have a great sense of teamwork. they are similar to Australians except a bit more patriotic, and from my experience thats the general opinion in Dublin at least

Ireland has laws on free speech. But funding the IRA 70 or 80 years ago was a just cause for Irish-Americans

Ninja-Hippo

Funding the IRA, a group who have slaughtered countless men women and children in the pursuit of a movement the northern irish people dont even want, are being put in the same sentence as "just cause". :|

they were fighting for our freedom, similar to the american fighting for their freedom, and the black and tans had been doing thing just as bad, i don't agree with them post 1916 and lots of N. Irish people would like to be part of the republic

IMO, the U.S. chooses their foreign conflicts poorly. Not by level of need, but by how much they will profit from heling out in other countries.

Why aren't there U.S. soldiers in Africa???

Nisstyre_56

...There is a VERY specific reason as to why the American people don't like having soldiers in Africa

they fear what they don't understand. then again... they don't care to understand the United States. there are some countries who have the mindset that anything else not like them is evil and corrupt.

then again... who knows?

Hating and bashing America usually seems like a way to avoid discussing the problems in one's own country and the rest of the world. it is easier to point a finger at a superpower like America for all the troubles in the world and believe it than it is to look at the bigger picture.
