Well, that made me curious, does Christians believe Muslims won't go to heaven?

II_Seraphim_II

Most of them do, yeah. The CWU certainly do. :P

lol, my a kid in my highschool said something I found kind of funny and your post reminded me of it:

Teacher: "What's Hell?"

Student: "Hell is where all religious people go after they die"

Teacher (obviously perplexed): "Why do you say that?"

Student: "People with strong and differing religious beliefs all forced to live in the same area? At least the atheists have a chance of getting along"

"Hell is other people."

I forgot who said that.

Whether you believe in religions or not, what gives you the right to critisize?

Theokhoth

The fact that he has the freedom to do so?

If you think he shouldn't be allowed to criticise a religion, tell me why.

Criticising a religion is fine. . .as long as it's like criticising a book. You go over the main points, how it's all lined up, etc, and then lay down the good/bad/ugly with a final grade.

Criticism as in going "lol religion is teh sux" is just a waste of time.

 I think you may have just disproved the existence of God.

There are topics which are prohibited from being discussed other than religions. What I'm seeing is not critisizing. It's baseless and pointless bashing.

You implied in that post that he had no right to criticise. You seem unable to back that up... and whether people actually do criticise is irrelevant.

I don't hate anyone who I argue with about religion. I'm fairly certain nobody else does either in these forums. I think you are getting bent out of shape for nothing. I respect quite a few of the religious debaters on these forums because they are good at debating and I would hardly stand a chance against them on some topics as I'm not well versed on those topics. If you want to see hateful bashing you should try the SW forum.

You discriminate against people who discriminate. That fails under your own definition of intellectual grounds; making you a part of the discrimination. If intellectual grounds are consistent, they should not violate their own definitions. If they aren't consistent, there's really no reason to call them "grounds."

It was justa throwaway comment not to be taken seriously.

Next time, use a damn smiley. :x

Depends on your definition of "attack". Saying "x religion is stupid/sheep/terrorists etc." is a direct attack on the belief. Questioning and challenging it, however, isn't. If you easily take offence to any and all contradictory views on your religion then you're bound to think that it is "under attack". As already said, religion is a state of mind, not a genetic predisposition. I'll gladly discuss with someone their views on psychology as much as I'll discuss religious beliefs (really they're the same, but oh well).

It's been stated already, but religion is a belief and a choice, whereas sexual preference and race are not. I don't really think its ok to attack someone because of their religion, that would be wrong, but questioning what a person believes is alright.

Every posts that bashed religions here was written by someone who was influenced by the media.

So you're sayign that anti-religious people can't think for themselves while religious indivduals are the true thinkers? That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. You've complaiend before about people categorizing religious people and you seem to be doing it more and more with non religious people.

No, he's saying that is what gamingqueen is saying. Which is an easy assertion for him to make, since that is a pretty direct consequence of her absurd generalization.

I didn't say anything of the sort. It was in reference to what she said. I am well aware that some of the most brilliant minds in history have been religious.

In a certain region, OF COURSE! heh needs explaining more than that? Bigotry and prejudice at its best. Or what do you call it when you have a user who's martian and tries to explain for a group of people about what it means to be a martian and those people keep on insulting all martians? You have a martian with you, why not listen to what he says and believe your crappy tv?

Why does it annoy people so muchwhen others believe in a religion? Usually, when one complains from something so much, it means that person is annoyed. People complain when something annoying or bad happens to them and not because a group of people believe in something. Is beliving in something a crime? Just because your rotten media portrays something as uncool and ******** all the time doesn't mean it's true. Who knwos, maybe those network channels will show an athiest family as dirty and retarded and people will start bashing athiests because of that? Every posts that bashed religions here was written by someone who was influenced by the media.

Hypothetically, let's assume that people on here are attacking religion. It is easier to try to convince someone that one idea is wrong, other than one idea is right. If I were to say "I think that platypuses are the best animals on the planet", it would be easier for people to gather a wealth of other animals which they think is cooler (for clarification, no animal is better than the platypus) and try to convince me otherwise than if I was to just work off the limited amount of information on this one (awesome) critter. And in terms of the media portraying certain religions as "bad"; that is just simply a fad. Trust me it'll pass. The media will run one story after another into the ground with groundless scaremongering. My brother-in-law works in a hospital and a local newspaper told them that because they sell more papers when a scam is on the front page "If you don't give us a story, we'll make one up". Good news doesn't sell. "Devote Christian Keeps Opinions To Self" will sell next to nothing compared with "Devote Christian Claims Obama Anti-Christ". I agree that a lot of people are easily influenced by what the media feed them, but luckily these are the same people who have incredibly short attention spans.

Sorry I did not choose to not believe in God due to the media. I chose to question His existence because of the lack of evidence. As stated before the vast majority of religious threads in these forums are made by religious people who are trying to prove the point that their religion is the truth. It is not about a martian trying to explain martianhood. How is martianhood even a belief? It's like an African-American comign in and explaining what his choldhood was like and what life in Africa was like and people debatign about it not really being like that. It's a silly anology.

People bash evolution in here as well. Is it ok for certain religious people to question evolution while it is not ok for non-religious to question religion? Many of these types of threads are debates, this is what a debate consists of.

Did I just spy a reference to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly?

:P

Hmm... Well, it can also transform into an army of Christopher Walken cyborgs that shoot laser beams and butterfly wings from their ears.

[QUOTE="Theokhoth"]

In recent years it's been shown that religion might not be as much of a choice as we thought.

DUN DUN DUN!:o

Religion has become the new homosexuality, it seems.

Locke562

Technically I did not "choose" my religion. I believe it's true and do not choose my beliefs simply because I want them to be true.mindstorm
What is it then? Indoctrination?

Nope, I believe my religion to be true just as I believe I my room wall to be white. I can't force myself to believe anything else. I need no convincing nor "indoctrination" to believe otherwise. Of course, I admit my eyes could deceive me, but I have yet to find any solid proof that my wall is not white/Christianity is not true.
