yes, another game across the pond. the number of people in the uk and europe that like the national football league is growing. This isnt just true because theres games going over there, but because theres always a bunch of british people on football forums now.

Yet, theres many british people who wont even give it a chance that post here. Maybe they secretely like the sport.

Im wondering what you think about the sport growing in your turf.

by the way... for the people who hate the sport, its the saints vs the chargers. so "dont" get tickets.

I don't see why it has to happen in our country. We stick with our football(soccer) and Rugby.

You should add "American" to "football" in order to make it "American football" because "football" is what we call soccer.

I like the fact I can legally murder someone on the field as such things are banned in Rugby. But I'm going to say it once and once only. Get your game off our Island so we can enjoy "soccer" as you lot call it or else I will be forced to put painful painful measures into place.

What "happens", however, is all those damn commercial breaks. I'd rather watch a good ol' 45 minute Xs 2 match.

the commercials are annoying, ill give you that.

But theres more to football than just the NFL. once the NFL really gets popular in the UK maybe you guys will have college/hs teams and such like we do. Maybe we can have football in the olympics, that would be awesome.

I'd much rather watch some guy faking being hurt after taking a dive.

Don't get me wrong, I love soccer (football, whatever), but that is the most annoying thing in all of sports.

Get up, play like a man and stop faking an injury.

Lets all laugh at the weak armor padded players who fight it out and actually scream in pain when hit. The moment they stop wearing all that padded armor and get the helmets off I might actually being enjoying it. But until then get off my island.

i had the giants/browns monday night game on my tivo. i basically scanned through all the replys, standing around, commericals, blathering commentary etc... and only watches the actual plays. was able to get through the entire game in ~ 35-40 minutes. thats the way to watch it :D

People would die without helmits, people would get seriously injured and careers would be shortened by God knows how many years without the pads you speak of.

Football is just too tough on the body to do without pads. Players are too strong, too fast, too big, and take huge hits to survive without anything.

I live in the UK. And I can tell you for definite, I know nobody, that's right nobody, who is remotely interested in American Football. It isn't going to become a sport we care about, people only attended that game to see what NFL games were like. I'd imagine the same will happen this year, but that doesn't mean we will adopt it as our own.

It just isn't some amazing growing interest. I'd imagine you'd find no more English people interested in NFL than American people interested in English football (or Soccer or whatever)

You gotta look at football like a chess match, but replace the peices with huge men who love smashing each other into the ground.

I actually think its one of those things were people watch it and dont talk about it. If you go on team forums you always find a few british people wishing they played the games at normal times and there were more games over there.

There is major league soccer here in US. It's no where near as popular of course, but it's here.

upset that football is getting popular are we?

Football players are bigger and get far worse injuries.

the sport will eventually take over your island :)

Samwel_X

Rugby players are just as big... there is far more damage done, people's careers are eneded regularly.

no they arent. if you take the pads off of football players, youll have a fatality in every game. Theres different kinds of hits going on in football as opposed to rugby. If you have a guy thats close to 300 lbs in the best shape of his life running at you at sprinter speeds directly at your rib cage, the absolute toughest rugby player would be in the ER so fast that your head would spin. Pads or no pads.

You should add "American" to "football" in order to make it "American football" because "football" is what we call soccer.Hexagon_777

Selling out one game doesn't make it the new national sport you know...

not yet.

the best thing about the sport growing in the uk at a fast rate is that so many of you just dont WANT it to be there. I dont see why it would matter. If you dont like it, then dont watch it. but the thing is, so many of you are and the ones that dont cant handle that other people do. Why?

Lets all laugh at the weak armor padded players who fight it out and actually scream in pain when hit. The moment they stop wearing all that padded armor and get the helmets off I might actually being enjoying it. But until then get off my island.

People would die without helmits, people would get seriously injured and careers would be shortened by God knows how many years without the pads you speak of.

Football is just too tough on the body to do without pads. Players are too strong, too fast, too big, and take huge hits to survive without anything.

thats actually a faulty argument. because without the pads the game would be different. people wouldn't hit as hard because they risk injuring themselves in the process. it'd be a different game

I actually think its one of those things were people watch it and dont talk about it. If you go on team forums you always find a few british people wishing they played the games at normal times and there were more games over there.

And from that you conclude that the sport will eventually take over the UK? Additionally, all your evidence concerns itself with the UK. What about the rest of the EU? No sport has dethroned football there.

You just nailed it, you will not feel invincible without pads hence why you will not charge at someone with a great amount of force. But still, in Rugby, our players get injured easily still.

[QUOTE="jointed"]No thanks...it's one of the most anti-climactic sports out there.Chutebox

yeah? I guess all those fourth quarter comebacks never happened

What "happens", however, is all those damn commercial breaks. I'd rather watch a good ol' 45 minute Xs 2 match.

i had the giants/browns monday night game on my tivo. i basically scanned through all the replys, standing around, commericals, blathering commentary etc... and only watches the actual plays. was able to get through the entire game in ~ 35-40 minutes. thats the way to watch it :D

You gotta look at football like a chess match, but replace the peices with huge men who love smashing each other into the ground.

oh i get it. i just do not need to listen to two and an half hours of innane commentary and watch 50 commercials for coors lite in the process. filter out the crap, keep the good stuff

I thought that too, but when watching a game the station had a problem and there was no commentary. I actually missed it lol. I think if people actually understood each position, how much effort, timing, thinking, energy goes into every single play they would understand why it is so loved in the US.

I mean, quarterbacks go through so much crap each and every play. There's a reason why people call it the toughest position in all sports. I'm glad I understand why and I can appreciate what they go through.
