I hope the UK enjoys its NFL game coming up.(Soccer/Rugby vs Footabll omgz!)

yes, another game across the pond. the number of people in the uk and europe that like the national football league is growing. This isnt just true because theres games going over there, but because theres always a bunch of british people on football forums now.

Yet, theres many british people who wont even give it a chance that post here. Maybe they secretely like the sport.

Im wondering what you think about the sport growing in your turf.

by the way... for the people who hate the sport, its the saints vs the chargers. so "dont" get tickets.

I don't see why it wouldn't grow, it has everything people look for in a sport.

the commercials are annoying, ill give you that.

But theres more to football than just the NFL. once the NFL really gets popular in the UK maybe you guys will have college/hs teams and such like we do. Maybe we can have football in the olympics, that would be awesome.

Don't get me wrong, I love soccer (football, whatever), but that is the most annoying thing in all of sports.

i had the giants/browns monday night game on my tivo. i basically scanned through all the replys, standing around, commericals, blathering commentary etc... and only watches the actual plays. was able to get through the entire game in ~ 35-40 minutes. thats the way to watch it :D

Football is just too tough on the body to do without pads. Players are too strong, too fast, too big, and take huge hits to survive without anything.

It isn't going to become a sport we care about, people only attended that game to see what NFL games were like. I'd imagine the same will happen this year, but that doesn't mean we will adopt it as our own.

It just isn't some amazing growing interest. I'd imagine you'd find no more English people interested in NFL than American people interested in English football (or Soccer or whatever)

You gotta look at football like a chess match, but replace the peices with huge men who love smashing each other into the ground.

I actually think its one of those things were people watch it and dont talk about it. If you go on team forums you always find a few british people wishing they played the games at normal times and there were more games over there.

There is major league soccer here in US. It's no where near as popular of course, but it's here.

no they arent. if you take the pads off of football players, youll have a fatality in every game. Theres different kinds of hits going on in football as opposed to rugby. If you have a guy thats close to 300 lbs in the best shape of his life running at you at sprinter speeds directly at your rib cage, the absolute toughest rugby player would be in the ER so fast that your head would spin. Pads or no pads.

You just nailed it, you will not feel invincible without pads hence why you will not charge at someone with a great amount of force. But still, in Rugby, our players get injured easily still.

I thought that too, but when watching a game the station had a problem and there was no commentary. I actually missed it lol. I think if people actually understood each position, how much effort, timing, thinking, energy goes into every single play they would understand why it is so loved in the US.

I mean, quarterbacks go through so much crap each and every play. There's a reason why people call it the toughest position in all sports. I'm glad I understand why and I can appreciate what they go through.
