Proof isn't really important with any belief, religious, scientific, whether the opinion is called a fact or a theory...absolute truth does not exist...at all...DejaVu72

Except that people were trying to claim a historical basis, which there is none. I'm more than aware that in the realm of make believe, anything goes.

Meh, I thought the film had its moments scattered here and there (for example - scene with Jesus and the Devil at the begging), however, as far as I am concerned, I could not really enjoy the unrealistic and melodramtic tone of the film, with the whipping scene being prime example of that point.

Well whether or not it's 'a moment in history' is debatable. We can call it a significant event in Christian beliefs regardless of whether or not it or the man known as Jesus lived.

The Passion of the Christ, though a dramatic movie, is perhaps the best romanticised version of the Jesus passion story. However, it still vilifies the Jews (I'm sure Mel had no problem with that) as some sort of enemy in Christianity and it over-emphasizes the suffering of Jesus.

What Jesus went through was hardly notable. Torquemada, the Hammer of Heretics, would have looked down on it at an amateur attempt to cause pain and suffering.

heh, it is a bit ironic that there have been individuals that have suffered more in the name of jesus during torture than Jesus himself.

Eh..the movie was way over dramatised...not to mention Gibson hates Jews, so he gets no support from me.

...and I must say it is a superb film...it is a film I am stunned with and willnot forget in a while.

I just couldnt stop watching it, it was so captivating.

wow, just wow, I dont know what to say...one of the best films I have ever seen.

props to Mel Gibson though, thats for sure.

Tell me your thoughts on the movie if you have seen it.

I can't say that its really good. Its more of a movie to watch and be... serious about. I had to watch it in 8th grade. I don't want to watch it again. Sadly one of my friends said it was so boring. I don't understand how you can watch it and not have it effect you.

I agree, it does have an effect after you watch it.

What does "fapped" mean...really I don't know if you thought it was funny, ridiculous, or serious.

It can be true yes...but after watching Jesus get beat down like that its really hard to think otherwise...but what you claim is true no doubt about it.

I really enjoyed the movie. As a Muslim, I hold the belief that Jesus (pbuh) was not crucified nor the Son of God. I do however hold him in high respect as a prophet of God. With that said, I felt the movie did a good job in artistically portraying some of the emotion that is attached to the passion story in Christian theology. A great piece of work that acts as a doorway towards better understanding of my Christian brothers and sisters. Mel Gibson is the man.

Havn't seen it but I want to sometime. To those saying Jesus did not exist, I find that idea that his existance must have been fictional very peculiar. There is stacks of historical evidence for his existance. Saying, "ooh its the internet=no proof" is silly, what do you expect, for someone to come to your house and bring all the aceient records to you? There's as much evidence for the existance of Jesus (of the man, not of a son of god) as there is for the existance of the battle of Hastings. Do you think that never happened?
