I belive in animal rights.

So do I, doesnt mean I cant eat them.

Out of curiousity, why do you eat meat?

Because it tastes good:|

Well, yeah and it's needed for the body. But you can replace meat with other non animal based stuff and isn't it cruel the stuff we do to animals?

don't you think 14 is a little too young to become a vegetarian. i mean you're still growing and need a lot of proteins and stuff and about animal rights those animals were raised to be slaughter, changing your diet will not make them better off by any means.

Uh-oh.

What?

Time to break out the My Chemical Romance?

Just messing mate, I know a couple of my mates who turned veggie. But from what you said (eggs and stuff) are you on about going vegan? As that's infinite more difficult.

No I still drink milk for protien and stuff.I never relly liked eggs.

So, you're willing to drink the milk from dairy cows that live in captivity, but you're unwilling to eat the eggs of chickens that live the same way?

My thoughts exactly. Sounds like hypocrisy but it makes me wonder... Even though he's not doing it perfectly, is he maybe better then us for trying to protect the animals from those horrible lives they have in the food factories (farms)?

I object to the food industry big time, but I don't have the cojones to become a vegan, or vegitarian. I'l just say that animal cruelty is a problem for the future, but for now it's hard to make a significant difference.

It's always hard to make a significant difference but you have to start sometime. Personally, right now I don't care enough about animals when it concers food but I do see how it's potentially wrong. Still, I'm undecided about the subject.

For every piece of meat you dont eat, i will eat twice. There, i have undone everything you could hope to do, and have ensured the same amount of animals are slaughtered and eaten, making your contribution non-exsistent. So you might as well eat meat.

Good for you.

I read this Bible verse one time that said "Better a meal of vegetables served with love than a meal of meat served with hatred." So eating meat is technically not wrong, but today we have the unnecessarily brutal slaughterhouses and growing farms and stuff so it's good to hear that a few less animals will die now.

I hope you put a lot of research into how to have a complete diet without meat. I've encountered vegetarians that weren't health at all because they didn't know the right things to supplement meat with.

You'll have to substitute something for the meat, especially as I get the impression that you're a bit of a picky eater. Soy products are your best bet, although I guarantee you WILL get sick of them as they all have the same aftertaste no matter how the actual product is flavoured. Nutritionally speaking they're a decent meat replacement, though.

Cheese also works, but keep in mind it's pretty high in fat relative to the protein it offers.

That leaves you with the fun stuff - beans and grains. Beans are good protein as are various whole grains like barley and (to a lesser extent) oats. There are also enriched whole wheat pastas you can buy that have an awful lot of protein in them.

I eat all that stuff myself, but I don't cut out meat as it's a rather large option in the sea of food choices. Cut it out and you're not left with a whole lot of variety. Eating can also become more expensive, and eating out an enormous pain.

In the words of Flava Flav "Ignorance is at an all time high."

I haven't eaten meat in years and I feel better than I ever did as a meat eater. I get plenty of protien, my "manhood" is very much still around, and I never have problems taking a dump. Plus, ladies dig it. Try laying the "I care deeply about animals" rap on the next female you see. It works. Being veg rules.

Meat is really easy to replace in your diet. All beans in general are way good for you. Try making some black beans and rice. Burritos are also a killer veg food. Stick anything in them. Veggie burgers, veggie chicken ect are usually pretty good too. Bocca and morningstar stuff is the most common but kind of expensive sometimes. Try a GFS or something like that and you can get a pack of 10 burgers for the price of a 4 pack of bocca. Tofu is really good too if you can cook it right, otherwise it tastes like a sponge. I like to cook it up with some peppers and cajun seasoning and put it in a salad.

If you're dealing with parents, prepare to man up and take care of yourself. Learn to make your own food, get a job and buy your veggie stuff, ect. This will not only earn you respect from your parents but prepare you for real life.

Go for it kid.

But didn't God reject Cain's offering of vegetables because it was crap and instead favoured Abel because he offered meat? I mean if God can't live without meat...

Im only 14 and my parents never let me do anything. When I was 12.I could not even ride my bike to my friends house that was about 3 houses away and when I could go to his house My parents made me call him to come bring me to his house......Now you see.

Then do what you want, your parents will notice when you start to mature and change accordingly.

No they want. They yell and send me to my room.

That right there is probably the most legitimate reason I've seen for becoming vegetarian, although if I started a sentence with "I care about animals..." I'd probably choke on my own words. I've known people who did the same thing for a girl, although they always gave it up after the relationship ended.

I eat far less meat than most people but I can't last more than a few days without having to eat a strip or chunk of dead animal. It just tastes too damn good to pass up, although I will concede that most people eat too much of it.

Cutting it out entirely seems like a waste as well, since all you gain from eliminating meat entirely is the ability to call yourself a vegetarian (which in an of itself seems like a pretty weak reward). Any health gains are just as easily replicated by cutting back on meat and paying more attention to your diet. You're just forced to do so as a vegetarian for fear of missing nutrients.

I have a moral problem with it...

Go MLK on them then and start some nonviolent protesting.
