I agree! :P
BTW, my opinion is going off of what my friend from the UK has told me. kingyotoX
Yeah ok, considered that the UK is one of the least socialist countries in Europe...your friend must know what he's talking about

Say wha?
the rest didn't go through, but for the record it said "Shenmue_Jehuty loves Socialism!"
Yep, life in Canada is a nightmare. I hear they live in igloos and fight with stray dogs for food while waiting years at a time for healthcare.
It's totally true. I heard it from some guy.

The worst thing about Canada's healthcare are the senile over 70 age bracket who go to the hospital each day over any minor ache or pain or anything on them, and waste the time of doctors and delay the treatment of people who are legitimately sick/hurt.
I recall a story about a woman who went to the hospital to get a spot checked out. That spot? Ink. She had bumped into a pen or something. Ridiculous.
There could be some barriers to prevent such ridiculous things from happening, like taking record of incredibly minor admissions per patient, and those with a history of such and who are showing evidence of the same type of minor illness/symptom/etc. are forced to wait longer, or something. If it wasn't "free", people wouldn't be going in for every minor scratch or whatever.

I do think we have a decent system here in the Netherlands. There is no socialized healthcare, instead everyone is obligated to have health insurance. There are some basic things that the insurance has to cover as well, so hospitals/doctors can be certain that the people they get in are insured and that they will get paid for it after they treat them.
Most insurances also have an own-risk, which means that the insurance company will only insure you for costs above the own-risk amount (usually somewhere around 100-200 Euros I think). The amount you have to pay yourself is so low that it shouldn't be much of a problem, but it will prevent people going to the doctor for ridiculous things.

That is a smart idea. It would prevent people from going to the hospital to see if their kid's cold is a serious trachea/lung disease.
I wish my country would do something like that.

No, but I heard men beat bear's skulls in with sticks for self defense! Canada FTW!
im not a fan of obama but that won't happen. I dont think he is that extreme and plus everyone forgets congress has to approve every law made. chances of too many of his more socialist policies getting approved in my opinion is slim to none metaldude05
You do realize that the Democrats have the majority of Congress now, correct? Both Senate and House? With a Democratic President, there's nothing to stop him.
I hate republicans. They Think they know whats best for the country but only want to limit US's freedom. I mean I loved it when almost all the republicans threw a fit after some stupid rumor that Obama was Muslim. Ok for one whats wrong with being Muslim? their are some bad pnes out their but i could same that their is bad Chirstians out their.but not all of them are bad:roll:
If you ask me its the Republicans turning ae country into waste. I find Most of them prejudice and against the Constitution it self.
JangoWuzHere
Well aren't you hypocitical? You generalize all Republicans as being dangerous to America and limiting US freedoms, when you're accusing them of thinking all Muslims are bad? As polarizing as I can be with politics, not all Republicans are gun-toting, uneducated, racist rednecks, just like not all Democrats are snobby, elitist, socialistic liberals. Have some common sense.

Just because there's a unified government doesn't mean that all of his proposed legislation will be passed. There are different sects of Democrats that can oppose him and both divided and unified government have gridlocks. They pass the important stuff and usually bicker about the rest.
Yep, socialist wastelands, that's Europe and Canada for you. Life here in Ireland is awful, we still live in stone cottages, and use animals to plow our potato farms, we don't even have electricity, or cities (I'm using undersea cables to steal America's electricity to power this laptop), all thanks to those evil socialists in Dublin.
Now to be serious. I think Canadians and Europeans (like me) take offense at their countries being called "wastelands", conisdering their countries outdo yours in areas like healthcare and education (the actually important areas, not how big your guns are. Also, do you even know what a socialist is? Because it's not a very accurate word to describe neither Canada nor Europe.
[QUOTE="kingdre"]Well, he did say he was gonna bring change.
Anyway, you could try living somewhere in Asia. A lot of good places there... yessir.

Just Japan imo most of the countries are not on par with US living standards.....
Japan, Malaysia, (some parts) the Philippines, Singapore, to name a few, are all pretty decent.

Yep, Australia is just awful as well, with our Socialist ways. I mean, we have free health care for all! Socialist is too soft for reds like us, I'd call us filthy Communists. And our economy's struggling so badly under the weight of out Commie policies, that we're forced to call simple tents on the beach our home.
Clearly, only America has true Capitalism :(.
Oh man, I can't even be bothered arguing against nonsense like that...

You're all forgetting the second richest country in Asia, which is South Korea.
