communism requires a huge government to do the things it advocates. without the police state, its not possible. H8sMikeMooreFalse. In a communist state, there is no state except the local apparatus.

False.
What communist country is flourishing then? What communist country is a haven of love, compassion and social evolution? All communist countries so far have been little more than places of social control and stunted social growth. Financially a few communist countries may be doing well (china), but if you ask the people of that nation how well they are cared for I doubt youre gonna get anything warm and fuzzy out of them.
Communism is a failed idea, at this point at least. I highly doubt that this will ever change unless they can figure out how to turn humans in to worker bee automatons...

As far as vast communist dictatorships, you are correct, for the most part. However, socialism is still very strong in Northern and Western Europe, as well as many countries in South America.

That's just the thing: There is not nor has there ever been a Communist country in existence. There's been countries that have been called Communist, but they were not actual Communist states by design; they were police states. The 'Communism' was simply propaganda tacked on to persuade the public that the government had their best interest in mind.[QUOTE="jer_1"][QUOTE="Engrish_Major"][QUOTE="maheo30"]Communism has failed everywhere it has been.

America WAS generating 3/4 of the worlds wealth, which subsequently spread across the globe. Much of this deteriorated because of foolish investments, damaging laws, and because of many actions being taken by some of the largest companies in the world. I'm not a staunch supporter of any corporation mind you, I feel little but animosity against most. The original intent of America was true freedom and liberty, this is what I stand behind (our constitution). That original intent was what allowed America to succeed where so many had failed.

Yes it does. Unrestrained capitalism has caused a massive downturn of the western economies that embraced it.

But having all this freedom just leads to big corporations and business using that freedom to exploit the poor.

its not about socialism.
in communism theres no economic competition, which fuels video game development. Theres no way that a communist government is going to have people dedicate so much time to something like a video game. In capitalism, peoples desires dictate whats best it allows people to have everything they want and then some. which is super schweet

Monopolies, low wages and benefits, safety hazards, ethical practice, environmental stewardship, all of these things and others have to be enforced by the government. These practices have been evolving since the industrial revolution in order to protect the people. Read "Wealth of Nations" or "The Jungle".

So... what the deveolpers of video games dont enjoy what they do enough to make progress and make fun games, if they didnt then no one would buy them even in a communistic society. Miyamoto wouldnt stop making mario and kojima wouldnt stop making metal gear and the progress of fun games would not be stinted. The government is not going to tell people what to do.\, in a pure communistic society it wouldnt do that, it would go against what it stands for so I dont see what the problem is. They would still be able to spend as much time as they wanted to on the game

exactly SHOULD lie with the people, but usually dosent... politicians are more or less interested in controlling these days. if society dosent agree with a corporation, then when their profits are low then they HAVE to change in order to survive
corporations are BETTER than governments.

they might make a video game of some sort. but im saying you're not going to get lets say: Gears of War and you certainly will not get anything unique or interesting. Thats liek assuming a normal everyday person is going to make a game of that calibur. the reason a game like gears of war is so good is because they said to themselves "we HAVE to be better, we HAVE to make a ton of money"
you cant "buy" in a communist society.

then i feel bad for you. Thats possibly why america is so messed up right now. Governments rarely ever help anyone outside of military presence

Really? I went to a public school, which set me up for a successful lifestyle. I drive on public roads, which are some of the best in the world. The fire dept seems to be doing its job as well... there are many more examples of 'socialist' programs which help us each and every day.

not always. corporations aren't stupid. it's not uncommon to see trusts form in that all of them are screwing you instead of just one.

private schools on average do better than public
the reason most european schools (for example finalnd) are better than our schools is because they have competitive education
roads? come to pa and tell me that
I win. Try again?
