Good for you, but you should try some exercise, I know it's a pain but it's good in the long run.

I didn't say they were terrible people but I'm pointing out that by being morbidly obese they are affecting society in a negative way. They are making other people suffer for reasons already stated and that is incredibly selfish on their part.
hillelslovak
Everyone is making someone suffer in some way. You make people suffer with high gas prices win you drive a inefficent car, you make people people in certain countries suffer when you support coca cola, you are making people suffer when you buy certain products. It's unfortunate, but it happens with everyone. You arn't absent of guilt.
It sounds like you're way too sensitive and taking things that people say way too seriously. Making blanket assumptions about other people's assumptions is kind of stupid, no?Perhaps. There were numerous people outright laughing and telling the OP to stop being happy because they were a bad person. So no, not really.
[QUOTE="LadyUnderverse"]The idea is commendable. How some might choose to go about it however is not always commendable. That does not work to take away from the initial idea being commendable.MrGeezer
No, the idea is nothing more than people looking out for their own self-interests. How hard it is is irrelevant.
It's no different than someone wasting his life studying law because he thinks it's expected of him. If he truly WANTS to be a lawyer, then all he's doing is what he wants to do. And since when has doing what you want to do been something to be proud of? And if he DOESN'T want to be a lawyer and is only doing it because he thinks it's expected of him, then he's a fool for wasting his life on something that makes him miserable.
I don't think that being healthy OR unhealthy is something that warrants pride or shame. Do it if you want to, don't do it if you don't want to.
That's just your personal values then. Values differ from person to person. I can easily argue, with my values being what they are, why being healthy is commendable, where being fat is not. Simple as that. If you are looking for an objective standard, my guess is you will find none, but there is a general consensus though, that being society. I'll go with what I live in and contribute to for now.No cause I do both[QUOTE="Toriko42"][QUOTE="Pixel-Pirate"]
Do you also have an irrational hatred toward smokers and drinkers as well?

Stunning irony. Smoking is incredibly unhealthy, probably just as much as being obese. It also puts a drain on the healthcare system when I have to pay for some guys iron lung because he just HAD to have another puff. Smoking also has adverse effects to those around you.
Drinking puts a damper on society when a person is killed because of a drunk driver, or I have to pay for someones liver damage.
Drinking, smoking and over eating crappy food are all terrible, but you seem to be making the argument of "Hey, it's genetics, don't even try to lose the unhealthy weight." It's an irresponsible argument that promotes poor health and the excuses that follow.I form the opinion based on what I see them eating, drinking, etc. Nothing angers me more then a fat person who orders a salad then douses it in ranch dressing for example or a fat person who goes to Subway for some 'healthy eating' then gets a turkey bacon club with ranch[QUOTE="Toriko42"][QUOTE="Pixel-Pirate"]
I'm glad you went and asked them exactly how their life works, their medical and genetic background, asked if they have been exercising (you don't become skinny in a day.) and then formed your opinion.

Perhaps but they're draining more than the average person would and in all honestly being morbidly overweight is not an easy task to get to so they already are lazy in that sense. I believe this argument was started by you saying as to how obese people are affecting us in a negative way and I have shown how they do so this argument is done. I bid you adieu.

I'd probably be proud I lived my life the way I wanted instead of by societies preconceived arbitrary notion of what I must live by, how I must look, and how I must feel.
But hey, fat people are just subhumans, right, who cares?
They aren't subhumans, but there is a reason society finds average weight more attractive compared to obese people.Average weight = better chance of being healthy and in shape.
Obese = obviously not in shape and probably not healthy. may have a eating disorder
To my knownledge back in the 1920s, being "chubby" was attractive because if you were chubby you had to have some money.

Because health entirely matters on the outside. There are 600 pound people with working livers and lungs.
I really don't have much more to say on this. If someone wants to insult others due to their appearance, I can't stop them. But hey, can't change someones opinion, can I?

When did I ever say that exercise and a responsible diet would magically shed the pounds? It takes hard work and patience. I used to be 70-80 lbs overweight, and I have bad genetics. I didn't ***** and moan about my situation and sit around. I started a healthy diet and put in the work that was needed to lose the weight. I'm now in excellent health. That is something that most people aren't willing to do because they're just plain weak. You.Are.Wrong[QUOTE="Pixel-Pirate"]I wonder how many people who look down on the overweight for not being "healthy" also routinely drink and smoke.LadyUnderverseGood question. So, you're arguing that obese people are in good health? Are you out of your mind? When there is loads upon loads of fat on the outside, there's loads and loads of fat on the inside too. And liver damage is extremely high in obese people. Again, it's impossible to determine if that person is having a net negative effect on society without a very thorough examination of every aspect of their lives. If in order for a fat person to lose weight they have to give up the potential to benefit society more in some other way, then that's not a very good trade off, is it? Let's remember that simply losing weight does NOT equal good health. There are thin people in HORRIBLE health, but who look healthy to the naked eye. There are people who are technically "fat", and yet are otherwise in very good health.
A lot of fat people DO exercise and eat healthy. They're just not going to do that all ****ing day long, because they have other important stuff to do. There are indeed "fat" people living a healthy lifestyle who have stabilized at a constant weight. They can exercise every day and eat healthy, they are STILL going to get treated like lazy worthless bums because they are overweight. Meanwhile, a thin dude walks into KFC and orders a bucket of chicken, and nobody thinks twice. They'll say, "well, HE'S allowed to have fried chicken since he's not fat", without giving any concern about ANY other aspect of that man's health.
And yes, some people just have a harder time losing weight. These people will have to exercise more in order to get at the weight where society thinks they should be, and sometimes that is just not feasibly unless they are willing to sacrifice more important things such as excelling in their careers or spending more time with their familes.
One of the things I hate about society's anti-fat attitude is that it is so extremely superficial. It's almost not even about bettering ourselves, it's about fitting an image of what people should look like. Apparently, for a lot of the anti-fat people here, actual HEALTH is a secondary concern.

Hey obvious american, you are really going to wish you actually exercised and got ur fat @ss off the xbox when you have a long term illness. you cant live a sedentary lifestyle and expect the outcome to be great. Firstly, McDonalds sucks. I love burgers and fries, but at least get them from a decent place.
Secondly, I am just like you but I probably weigh barely 140-150lbs. I'm 6'2" (190cm) or taller and pretty skinny, though I am unfit.
