Nah.

I used to think that baseball would be too boring too watch, but then I started watching the Tigers games a little bit. The tension is ASTOUNDING at time. I remember some of those 9th innings when we had Valverde up trying to close out a game in the playoffs. God that would be so much pressure to take.

I would say basketball is easily the worst. Boring as **** to watch, the scores are almost meaningless with how many points are made in a game, and it takes the least amount of skill of any sport. I mean seriously, 75% of being a basketball star is just being freakishly tall so you can reach to stupid net...

[QUOTE="raven_squad"]It can't be the worst in a world in which lacrosse exists.worlock77

Box lacrosse is awesome. I played for years, travelled a lot, great off-season game for rugby players. Field lacrosse however sucks.

Baseball is the most boring sport of them all to me, I'm sure it takes some kind of skill...but really, when your top "athletes" look like:

Baseball Fielder]

And your games take 4-5 hours due to crotch scratching...there is a problem.

Awesome, you found one fat player. That must mean that all of the hundreds of Major League ballplayers are fat as well. I guess all rugby players look like this:

fat-rugby-player-2.jpg

45 fat players who are top notch :P The rugby player you posted is not a professional...those baseball players are.

Also, rugby means running for 85 minutes, baseball is all standing.

i love baseball. i wish i still played.

i think it's hard to be a casual fan because most people don't really understand the mental aspect of the game.

also, hitting a ball with a bat isn't easy, especially when it's going 90+mph and isn't even going in a straight line.

Fine, if you think it doesn't take much skill...Then you hit a ball smaller than your fist going 95 miles an hour. Boring, yes....Not taking much skill....Hardly.

I'd say no, and to the people who say baseball takes no skill--you're wrong. Now, I think batting has been adequately covered, and maybe pitching, but fielding, let's look at that. You need to be able to get your hands on the ball and then throw it accurately and quickly enough to get the batter out (let's exclude fly-outs and snap decision-making for now). The actual catching is one thing, the accurate and fast throwing is another. Then, you have to be able to do it again. And again. Basically, you have to be able to scoop up that ball and make the out 100% of the time. Consistency is the name of the game. Consistency is why innings end and runs don't get scored. And consistency is why the pros get paid the big bucks (that is, your average pro and the average big bucks).

Of course, many say the sport is boring to watch, and even fans of the sport say that MLB is boring to watch. Well, I guess that is attributable to consistency as well. For people to get on base and for runs to be scored, mistakes have to be made. Naturally, such mistakes are more likely to be made below the professional level.

Now golf, well, I put golf in the same category as games like billiards, darts, bowling, etc. It's just that golf is, quite literally, bigger.

Iszdope

Garbage.

(Except for the "bigger" part)

Well, golf also offers fresher air and quieter applause. And of course, you need bigger body parts to manage the general bigger-ness of golf. Naturally. :P

No its having good Eyehand coordination. You havent played baseball before have you? I have for over 10 years IT takes skill to stand in front of a pitcher and try to hit the baseball he is throwing at you (witch comes at high speeds, curves, low speeds etc..) Once you hit the ball you have to run to first base witch requires having sprinting speed (running fast) Stealing bases requires quickness and caution. If your not fast you will not be able to steal bases. You have to be smart to be a good base runner in baseball, gotta understand and watch the pitchers routine. Know when you can steal a base safely. If you havent played baseball witch im pretty sure you havent, it takes good hand eye coordination to make plays in the infield and outfield. Being a Pitcher wich I was takes a strong arm and good form, and alot of endurance as your arm tires out over the several innings. Baseball is not easy to play by any means.

Not easy, sure... But much easier than the other major sports

Ok then, 45 players out of the tens of thousands who have played the game over the last century or so. And no, not all of those players are top notch. Case in point: Walter Young, whose Major League career lasted a whopping 14 games between September and October 2005. And no, baseball isn't all standing, but far be it from me to stand in the way of ignorance.

Baseball is mostly standing. No one can argue it's a "fast paced" game on any level...it's not fast, it's not cerebral, it certainly doesn't require the skillset and intelligence that rugby or a real sport does. It is literally the worst sport in the world. Thankfully it's dead in Toronto. I did play it at one point when I was young...but I found it tedious. Besides, it took away all of my advantages, like driving my shoulder into people's chins. You know what, the starting pitcher likely gets a decent workout...no one else does. Quite frankly, I've never understood why some of the more athletic guys don't play better games...I guess because a lot of games test for steroids or something.
