It's good to know that we can judge an entire religion based on two people. We hear crap like this all the time from Islam and never from Christianity.[QUOTE="MrGeezer"][QUOTE="Jebus213"]RELIGION OF PEACETopTierHustler
Maybe it's all just a huge coincidence that it happens over and over again in the same religion, and not any other.
umm this stuff does happen with Christians ALOT. ever been to eastern Europe?

What's crazy is how long they got away with it... Did you guys read the article? They murdered her in 2003 in front of her other brothers and sisters as an example and the parents have gotten away with it until recently when one of the younger siblings told police what she saw...
I feel really bad for her... Reading that artcile was kind of eye opening about British Social Services... Several times she reached out and told teachers and social workers she was being abused, she ran away multiple times, had herself declared homeless to get help, and even tried to commit suicide at one point and she was never removed from the home and always sent back... That is disgusting...

You really hate them Pakistanis don't you.GazaAli
I'm guessing he's from India? Understandable.
also: why is he not being insulted for using a dailymail link when I was?
I'm an atheist, secular humanist and a progressive, and I want to make one thing very clear. Despite the fact that the man specifically made it clear this was religiously motivated, anyone blaming Islam is a bigot. Islamophobia is not okay. If he was a Christian, it would be religiously motivated, but Muslims are victims of bigotry and need to be constantly treated like victims. Fundamentalist Christianity is every bit as bad as Radical Islam, if not worse. Also, it's completely bigoted to say that people from the third world immigrating to Western Europe will have any impact on states like the UK. There is no such things as voting wars, and politicians never pander to a growing voting block. Rhazaknawowowowowowowow keep on being politically correct bud

Sick. Who would be crazy enough to destroy their own offspring? Sickening. Life in jail without parole for these hypocritical piles of garbage.
It just isn't England where this has happened, an Egyptian cab driver from Dallas, TX murdered his 18 and 17 year old daughters for the same reasons. One even had a black boyfriend which may have mad the guy even more madder. What is worse is that the mother had run away with the girls at one point, but was talked into returning after the mother returned to the father. She may be busted for enticing the girls back to Dallas from Illinois.
You mean thank god you weren't born into a muslim family?I want to kill myself when I hear stories like this. But instead, I thank God for keeping me alive.

Shame the parents are not like my two Muslim female friends parents, extremely nice people, proud of their daughters (even adopted some western culture). Also doesn't seem to be religiously motivated on the father's part in the murder he just cared for image, a weak man.
Eh it's cultural and a big part of the culture is religion. I don't think we can isolate the two easily with first and possibly second generation immigrants. Down the line...sure Muslims will be westernized.Shame the parents are not like my two Muslim female friends parents, extremely nice people, proud of their daughters (even adopted some western culture). Compare to other religions Islam, most of the aspects of culture are still rooted in the religion such as "Islamic history, for Muslims has an important religious and also legal significance, since it reflects the working out of God's purpose for His Community - those that accept the teachings of Islam and obey its law" -Lewis, 1994 27, what should value is outlined in the Quran and how they organized their societies primarily as patriarchal. What makes me believe this was not religiously motives rather a part of ME culture is if we look at Albanian Muslims honor killings such as this are almost unknown.

IDK if its really fair to blame the religion here. i know that the punishment for apostacy is beheading, but IDK if it says anywhere in muslim texts that you're allowed to execute your daughter for being "western". I may be wrong though, who knows with islam.
How common is it?MrGeezerSignificantly more than it should be. Plus, it happens in all Muslim communities, both Western and Muslim-governed. It is not a trait centered in any specific community, or with any specific denomination. And anyone who commits an honor killing, claims they are following the law of Islam or Sharia. It is hard not to judge an entire religion when it's holy text condones beating women.
You're right. Honor killings are not necessarily Islamic. However, Islam promotes attitudes that indirectly encourage them.IDK if its really fair to blame the religion here. i know that the punishment for apostacy is beheading, but IDK if it says anywhere in muslim texts that you're allowed to execute your daughter for being "western". A lot of the personally know girls and women who have been forced into marriage. It's being bought out into the open more over here in the UK, but they say that it is still happens relatively often back in Pakistan. Even amongst people I know in Bangladesh (the few times I've been there) I have suspected that there is a lot of 'the good muslim woman' types. Obviously no one will say it out in the open, but the signs are visible.

Muslims go to Western countries and dont like their children get Westernized ? then go back to deserts.
I'm sure there are more "honorable killings" like this in the future.
It's a weird quasi-colonialist mindset: they want to maintain their strong cultural presence wherever they go.
