Like I already said, a population that does nothing to combat the extemist faction firing off rockets into Israel gets no sympathy from me.

Are you utterly, totally incapable of applying the same moral standards to everyone?

You WOULD care, though. Don't turn a blind eye to Israel's state terrorism while condemning Hamas'.godwhydoibother

The fact is, I don't. I don't live in Palestine. If I lived in Israel I'd probably want to do the exact same thing I'm advocating right now.

It's funny; Osama used the exact same reasoning to condemn American civilians after 9/11.

Semantics, both Bush and Obama used bombers or drones that have killed Iraqi civilians. What have we as Americans done about that?

Because we all know the Palestians are totally innoceont

I don't think the population could do anything if they even wanted. The extremist and militants are the ones armed. Plus if that link is accurate, 13 Israelis for 1434 Palestinians is overkill to the extreme. I'm not sure why people would think it's a good idea to go on an all out assault in a crowded city to kill a couple extremists firing rockets that most of the time, do nothing.

The dead don't see much of anything. They are dead, after all.

Either way, mistakes do happen in war. But to compare soldiers fighting a war to terrorists is absurd. And if you truly feel that way we have nothing to discuss.

I agree that it would be silly to do nothing, but have you guys ever tried using commandos to assassinate rather than go all out offensive? As far as I'm aware you have one of the best special ops in the world, with only the UK and US being ahead training wise. Or is that just too ineffective?

One photo means nothing. I would love to see an actual link to go with that. Furthermore, collateral damage always happens, an unfortunate byproduct of war.

It's never going to change. But I'd rather support a country just trying to defend itself rather than a country hell-bent on exterminating the Jews.

I agree with the black ops part. It saves so much more lives and money. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to be able penetrate security to get to your target. Airstriking the building the target is in has a higher chance of success.

Mistakes don't happen every single day. The military might be ridiculous sometimes, but not all the time.

Terrorists are not soldiers. They might fancy themselves that way, but the reality is quite difference. Soldiers actually care when collateral damage happens. Terrorists do not.

Difference?

1. Israel could have VERY EASILY killed this family without taking down AN ENTIRE APARTMENT BUILDING.

2. What we're doing in Afghanistan is also shameful. For every terrorist we kill, 1,000 join Al-Qaeda. We're just giving the terrorists a reason to be terrorists.

[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]

Maybe they just have better taste in music? :P

airshocker

Nonsense. :P

Breaking News: Palestinian soldiers take a break for a rap battle. World in shock as one solider mercilessly destroys the other. Talk about potential violation of Geneva conventions.

[QUOTE="grape_of_wrath"][QUOTE="Espada12"]I'm not sure why people would think it's a good idea to go on an all out assault in a crowded city to kill a couple extremists firing rockets that most of the time, do nothing.Espada12

Because having daily shellings puts a population in a state of constant terror and incapacitates the economy of large portion of area containing a lot of cities and towns.it doesn't matter that it rarely causes fatalities-property damage and the fact the society functions poorly(in that area)-is enough excuse. The mentality of the IL public and government-is retaliation to create detterence.it's not even a political thing-left and right IL governments have all done the same thing.Israel exists in peace thanks to detterence... Operation cast lead was an outcome of a year of shellings with almost no retaliation.

I agree that it would be silly to do nothing, but have you guys ever tried using commandos to assassinate rather than go all out offensive? As far as I'm aware you have one of the best special ops in the world, with only the UK and US being ahead training wise. Or is that just too ineffective?

People with no military experience ,usually, overestimate the capabilities of special forces-they aren't hitmen, and they can't operate in a completely hostile area without support.special forces have the job, usually, of supporting a main army force-providing it with intelligence, recon, demolition expertise etc. etc. they aren't supermen.in 2006 the IDF command did one of stupidest thing imaginable-they sent a team of air-servicemen(shaldag unit) to infiltrate tyrus and take out a missile launching team in a multi-story building.the "target"(what stands above the mission) was to wage psychological warfare-make them see we can get them anytime "From the shadows".it ended with the force complicating itself in an escape combat having it rescued by the 669 unit with more than 50% injured....
