I was raised a Catholic. I didn't have to be confirmed at 8, but my school and church kind of set that up as the ceremonial age. Most kids I knew were confirmed at that time, so I was as well.

That is communion not confirmation. Confirmation in the Catholic Church is done between 13-15. NOT 8.:|

Actually if your Maronite Catholic you probably had your comfirmation at an early age, at lease I was.

[QUOTE="Thiago26792"]That's why confirmation exists in Christianism. I don't know about other religions.Marth6781

Well your still to young for that. I got confirmed when I was 13 ...what did I know then about other religions ? Not too much . I was still a child and they told me confirmation is just something I had to do. Anyway you can change your religion at any time unless you are muslim.

wrong

Indeed... I'm not entirely sure of how to even respond to that. It's like saying you can quit college any semester you go except the fall semester of your sophomore year...

Almost 75% of the country is Christian. Where did this people all come from? Most were indoctrinated as children and stuck with the religion.

Correlation does not prove causation. Perhaps they just decided it made sense for them. It's arrogant to assume one can speak for another.;)

Off to work....

Honestly, stop being so naive! Like you really don't see the prevalence of child indoctrination in society. You're not fooling anybody.

I haven't met any adult yet that hasn't made the decision on their own. But hey....perhaps the government should take children when they are born from their parents so no parental influence exists....

If that's the case then I'm going to seek a job working for the government in teaching their children what I want them to believe... :P

I don't think what you are describing is a decision to be religious. It is a decision to continue being religious. Two different things.

Judging from your posts I'm guessing you are not religious. So tell me how you begin to think that you can tell another how/why they made their decision? Oh wait...YOU CAN'T. So leave others to their decision and stop bashing anyone that isn't in line with your opinion. Seems like you want to indoctrinate everyone to your beliefs. How ironic.

If I was born and raised a Christian, and later on in life I decide that I will continue my Christian ways, I'm not making a new, radical choice. I was already a Christian to begin with. I believe that is the decision he was referring to. That is more of a confirmation of my childhood teachings rather than an independant decision.

To make a choice to be Christian, you would have had to have been something else previously. That is a choice most do not make as adults.

I think it's ridiculous to consider it "wrong" to instill religion in your own child. Who is anyone to tell me how to raise my kid? As a parent, it is your job to raise your job the best way you know how - and if instilling a religion in your child at an early age is what you think is best - that's your job.
