When has wealth in the arts been earned by quality? Last time I checked, what makes the most money is what appeals to the lowest common denominator. The lowest common denominator doesn't care about art. I'm sure no one is going to say that she's a great writer because she makes a lot of money, but then again, I'm sure someone will say that.
